No person going on a birding trip to Namibia should ever miss this incredible place. Peter was an excellent host who ensured we got to see all the birds we wanted, especially the Cinderella Waxbill. The sunset cruise with Peter was also excellent and we got to see and photograph the most beautiful sunset. The facilities was great and we especially enjoyed the beautiful swimming pool during the heat of the day. Breakfast and dinner on the deck with the most stunning views over the Kunene River was wonderful. The best however was the wonderful service we received from all the personnel. Raurinda, Freddie, Jenisa and Frandina, you were all wonderful and we enjoyed your friendliness and conversations every time we met. We especially enjoyed the mulberries that Freddie got specially for us. Its that kind of service that makes one remember a place and its people forever. The chefs did a wonderful job and we could not believe the quality of the Chicken Cordon Bleu that was served on our last evening. Out of this world "lekker". We enjoyed every moment of our stay and if we ever get the chance we will definitely be back. The only thing that we really battled with was the quality of the WiFi reception. Thanks very much Peter. This was brilliant and one our most memorable stays in Namibia.

This is a beautiful campsite along the Kunene River. We had a lovely large stand with grass and everything you need. There is also a swimming pool, which the children really enjoyed.
The bathrooms are neat and there was hot water, just sorry the drainage of the showers is very poor so you are standing in a shower up to your ankles in the water.

We stayed in our roof tent on a very nice pitch under the trees overlooking the river. We loved the place.
The road to Epupa Falls is brillant now so it took us only 4 hours to go to Epupa Falls.
We we go in this area again - we will stay at Kunene River Lodge Campsite again.

The selling point of the lodge is its location and that's pretty much where it ends. The staff is friendly but it's unclear who manages the lodge and who does exactly what. And there's none of the personal touch left with the new owners of the lodge.

The food is ridiculously overpriced. I could make better food at home to be honest. Th reservation office didn't inform the lodge that I'm vegetarian, and the first night I was offered beef steak...I settled for extra veggies and chips. The second night when staff was now aware of my preferences, I was served a big plate of mac and cheese. My family's meals were equally unimpressive. What's more, the reservation office didn't inform us that the water levels at the Kunene would be too low for a sunset boat cruise, and that was really what we were looking forward to most. There's clearly a lack of communication between the reservation office and the lodge.

Great location but I honestly wouldn't recommend this place, which is sad because under the management of the previous owners the reviews were wonderful.

At most I would camp here, check the water levels beforehand and avoid the food.

The view, swimming pool, boating and food were exceptional. The bedroom were too hot. Blankets not pleasing. Mobile network was in short range, not accessible from bedrooms. WiFi was too expensive which supposed to be a free service to tenants.

Delighted you enjoyed our pool, boating and our food. Many of our rooms are air conditioned and the remaining rooms have fans. The beds all have fitted and flat sheets, duvets and there are blankets available should it be very cold. In very warm weather it is only necessary to use the sheets. MTC has limited connectivity. We do have a booster in reception for both MTC and the upgraded WiFi system. It is restricted to the reception, lapa, bar and restaurant area so people will not be disturbed in their rooms or campsites with people using their phones. As a new WiFi sytem has been installed, which gives a faster connection, it has been necessary to make a nominal charge for this enhanced service. Thank you for taking time to send in your review

Very friendly and welcoming staff.
Campsite had soft grass to pitch tent on as well as braai area with sink and electric point. Communal toilets and showers.
Very nice child friendly swimming pool.
Staff were relaxed about checkout time as campsite was not full.

If you are planning a trip to the Kunene River area this is a great place to stay. Then setting is spectacular. The food and service are excellent. The rooms have everything you need. The owners and staff are very knowledgable about the local birdlife, wildlife and flora, and go out of their way to be helpful. I really hope we will be able to visit again!

Very comfortable and peaceful. Boat rides and data are more expensive than most although the river ride was very enjoyable. lots of shade with the trees and very good bird life in the camp. Was able to get in some MTB rides on the roads around the camp.

Awesome Lodge along the Kunene River, apart from the stunning views, various bird species and the curious monkeys. The hosts where exceptional from the management to the waiters, they made our stay memorable, with in depth knowledge of the area and its history made our stay worth the while. We will be back!

The potential of this Lodge was somewhat a disappointment. We expected so much more especially in the line of birding and /or a birding cruise. The staff were by and large rather unwilling to help out with some other accommodation issues whereby we needed a phone number etc. The campsite was fine and we enjoyed some days relaxing. The kitchen/restaurant is basically not functioning. It was the only place where we had to PAY for wifi. Hopefully the new owners will take the time to improve this lodge.

Hello, how much are your tours to the Himba village and what's included?

Hi. I can't remember the price but it included a short transfer to visit a local family unit. We had a guide/interpreter and sat in a hut with family members learning about the himba culture. We also saw their kitchen hut. We asked lots of questions and this wasn't a problem. It's clearly a culture and way of life that's under pressure. I think we were there for about an hour and a half. I'm sure you can get the price from the lodge.
