I love the setting, the friendliness, the atmosphere, would ideally like to spend at least two nights at the lodge. My clients also felt that they would have loved to spend an extra night at your facility so I will making adjustments to my schedule.
The location of the lodge is really beautiful and the boat trip was definitely worthwhile. The absolution block however, needs more maintenance, as there were running taps and the toilet did not stop flushing.
We stayed in our roof tent on a very nice pitch under the trees overlooking the river. We loved the place. The road to Epupa Falls is brillant now so it took us only 4 hours to go to Epupa Falls. We we go in this area again - we will stay at Kunene River Lodge Campsite again.
We had a lovely time - was very hot but enjoyed the birding. Would have loved to see the cinderella waxbill since we will not be coming so far up north again in our lives. Perhaps to wet the bushes again where cinderella waxbill normally sits - or to track them like Pete used to do.
Kunene River Lodge has great camping sites, right on the river with fantastic views. You camp on grass which was a nice change as compared to all other camp sites around Namibia. The power supply was not earthed, but that would be my only complaint. The swimming pool was lovely and clean, the ablutions in a good condition and the owners were busy with upgrades which is always good to see.
The locarion is extremely beautiful at the river bank. You can feel real vacation there. The road from epupa falls alongside the Kunene river is stunning and not so hard for 4x4. Really nice service and appliances.
The selling point of the lodge is its location and that's pretty much where it ends. The staff is friendly but it's unclear who manages the lodge and who does exactly what. And there's none of the personal touch left with the new owners of the lodge. The food is ridiculously overpriced. I could make better food at home to be honest. Th reservation office didn't inform the lodge that I'm vegetarian, and the first night I was offered beef steak...I settled for extra veggies and chips. The second night when staff was now aware of my preferences, I was served a big plate of mac and cheese. My family's meals were equally unimpressive. What's more, the reservation office didn't inform us that the water levels at the Kunene would be too low for a sunset boat cruise, and that was really what we were looking forward to most. There's clearly a lack of communication between the reservation office and the lodge. Great location but I honestly wouldn't recommend this place, which is sad because under the management of the previous owners the reviews were wonderful. At most I would camp here, check the water levels beforehand and avoid the food. …
What a lovely place to stay over on our trip to Namibia. The camping and the ablution facilities were very good. Will stay over longer when we visit again. Suzanne was a very friendly and great hostess.
If you are planning a trip to the Kunene River area this is a great place to stay. Then setting is spectacular. The food and service are excellent. The rooms have everything you need. The owners and staff are very knowledgable about the local birdlife, wildlife and flora, and go out of their way to be helpful. I really hope we will be able to visit again!
Fantastic campsites, with lots of greenery, big trees and nice grass areas to pitch your tents on. Very friendly and helpful staff. We did some canoeing which was lots of fun. Great location along the Kunene river.
