Stayed in the hotel with a friend. We had a lovely room with a nice view. The communal roof lounge is also lovely with a nice, relaxed atmosphere. Rooms are tidy and clean, although bathroom could have had a little bit more decorating done to it, as it seemed a little worn out. Staff are lovely and helpful. Breakfast wasnt amazing but still a good selection. The hotel is very close to Isola Bella and a cable car that takes you up to the town centre. Overall - satisfied

We had no booking during a busy period in the region and found this hotel by chance. We managed to get a room with a view over the bay for an extra 40 Euros which was worthwhile. The rooms are pleasant although rather small but with all facilities and well presented. This is a nice place to stay, walking distance to everything including the cable car to Taormina. Moderately expensive but this is what you have to expect during peak season.

We stayed at the Baia Azzurra for a week at the start of September and were disappointed with some aspects of the hotel. For example, I had obviously been hoping for a sea facing room, so when we were booking I asked if this was possible for our stay, to which the man responded very sternly that they were very busy and had nothing to offer until the weekend. Fair enough, I thought, although I did find him quite dismissive but we took ourselves off to our room via a tiny and very slow lift (nobody offered to help us with our bags or show us the way).   The room when we got there was small and claustrophobic. When I went to the windows and pushed up the security blinds I saw about 2 feet of terrace and a young family from the next door room staring at me from across a dividing fence. I think this was the terrace.   I went back down to reception to try to get a better room and the lady was actually quite rude, saying they had nothing available and that it was my fault because I made the reservations. Eventually some disgruntled huffing and puffing she got on the phone and we were moved us to a larger room on the same floor. It still wasn’t brilliant and looked out onto steps where people could walk up and down, so didn’t seem very private either. No, balcony, no view to speak of and the decorating was very dull and a bit dated. The shower was very cramped, the lights switches were wonky, the fuse box was open and the plug sockets were badly positioned. The breakfasts were ok, although the coffee was from a machine. The staff at breakfast weren’t particularly friendly either (in fact the nicest person we met who worked in the hotel was the cleaning lady on our floor). The friendliest people were in the mini-market next to the hotel (when we bought a bottle of gin and tonic to take to our room, he threw in a lemon for free and even sliced it and put it in a plastic container). We didn’t eat or drink in the hotel as we were put off by the initial “welcome.” In fact, we probably would have had a drink in the bar if it had ever been open. In the week that we stayed there I never saw anyone serving behind the bar. Once there was a resident sat at it as we were going out one evening, but although the bar was lit up there was no one behind it. This was a shame, because there was a nice open terrace which looked out over the bay, and they could really make good use of this if they had a mind to.   The hotel was in a good situation, only a few minutes to the beach and the cable car which took you up to Taormina itself was near, but quite expensive. It was 6 euros for a return journey, so  if you might be going up to town during the day and then later for an evening meal it made sense to get a day ticket, but this was still 10 euros, so 20 euros a day was an expense I hadn’t expected. Taormina was lovely, but if I went back again I would stay up in the main part of the town and make sure I got a much nicer hotel with a balcony and a pool.

Hotel with great location, renovated rooms, polite staff and perfect food! Near to cable car that can take you to Taormina center but also 5min walk to Isola Bella beach. Nice balcony with sea view where they serve dinner. Definitely will visit this place again!

I stayed in hotel Baia Azzura in Mazzaro in the last week of May 2019 and therefore just pre-touristic season. I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the hotel, its location and the views. First of all, it is located just next to the cable car (Funivia) that takes to directly up the hill to Taormina. I was allocated a room 325 which had a little balcony with the side view of the hotel but with a good view to the local beach and Isola Bella. The decor of the room was simple and very clean, loved the neutral colours and up-to-date "Scandinavian" look. The bathroom was modern with a great strong shower with hot water running at all times. There is a safe for your valuables in the cupboard. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was fabulous with plenty of choice for continental and English breakfast. Great Lavazza coffee machine too. Staff was very helpful, friendly and polite. For a budget hotel I could not fault it and was pleasantly and unexpectedly surprised. I would definitely be happy to stay in this hotel again.
