Had an amazing weekend at Shanti Maurice. Very beautiful, calm and relaxing place to stay. The premises are very clean. The staffs are very welcoming and friendly. Our special thanks to Chef Rakesh Munoruth and his team for being such an excellent host. We greatly appreciate their high level of service and dedication that made our dinner most enjoyable. The dishes and produce were all of the finest quality. The food was excellent with wide choice on buffet. Much appreciated the great service provided by Mr Bhim at the restaurant. He was very helpful during our stay. Looking forward to another stay.

When we chose the Shanti for our second week in Mauritius we were intrigued by the reviews mentioning the very personal touch this resort provides. And yes it does. The staff of the Shanti Maurice make all the difference! From Vandana from Guest Relations who took care of us since arrival, to Hans from the tour desk who introduced us to Mauritius economic development to the great guys from the Rum Shed - Vishal, Vimal and team - who know how to party! Ask them about their smoky secrets when you‘re there ;-) And the hard product does deliver as well: Beautiful tropical gardens, impeculiar rooms (beachfront are the best imho), a great variety of restaurants and cuisines served in inspiring locations (eg La Kaze Mama at night is simply beautiful and Rum Shed even made it into the 111 places in Mauritius you must see), a great spa and so many other things we couldn‘t even try as a week is simply too short for this magical place. Dear Shanti team: We‘ll be back ;-)

This is a beautiful hotel on a lovely beach where the snorkelling and coral reefs are amazing. I wish I could give it 5 stars but one or two things let the hotel down and therefore I must give a balanced review. I’ll start with the positives. The staff and service are all very friendly, polite and professional and the welcome was really encouraging. There was some mix up with meal bookings via reception but we were accommodated in the end. I especially wish to mention the barman Vimal at the rum shed who is a great mixologist and also great fun. Mr Vic who made a great effort with us and Sheila - server at breakfast (the quickest and most attentive there) RUM SHED IS BY FAR THE BEST RESTAURANT ON THE RESORT. The spa treatments were some of the best I have had - I think Petipa? gets the award for being all round excellent. The facilities were fantastic, the games room well stocked and the gym, tennis courts (although could have done with a sweep from the wet leaves) were all great. The cleanliness was very good everywhere too. The water sports hut however were completely disinterested in talking to us - glued to their phones. The reason not 5 stars is that when I spend £4600 for one week hotel bill (3000 B&B and 1600 on all the meals /drinks /treatments and trips) on somewhere that markets itself as a Re-treat resort but is actually a family play park. , I really do not wish to have screaming babies and young children everywhere I go in the complex. I love children but this was not the setting I was expecting to find them in. Despite having a kids club, several kids in the only main adult pool every day splashing and screaming about throwing balls when I’m trying to have a relaxing swim, as late as 9-10pm at dinner - screaming babies, child running up and down in the room above us for the first few nights at 10pm creating a continuing banging, toddler sat on pool table late in eve playing with balls like a soft play place preventing us from playing (staff witnessed and did nothing) . REALLY DISAPPOINTING. I couldn’t escape the pool as room was right next to it so even an afternoon nap was disturbed by screaming and shouting children. I came for a relaxing week, and only had intermittent moments of peace. The manager at the end said we should have complained earlier but when I spoke with Hansley the week prior to arrival he told me the hotel was fully booked that week and could only offer me that room despite me voicing my concerns about being next to pool and staying I have cancer and need a quiet room where I can hear the sea. Fully booked I was told prior to arrival - no other rooms available therefore I knew there would be no chance of changing rooms. Besides, that wouldn’t have solved all the noisy kids everywhere else on the complex from dawn til dusk. Even a child at the meditation that did not speak English and so dad spoke to translate all the way through. What a joke. By the end of the week I felt happy to leave and escape all these kids who the hotel staff appear happy to run free so as not to upset their paying parents - at the expense of the peace and quiet of other guests. Don’t come here if you want an adult only relaxing honeymoon / wedding / spa escape. Furthermore lovely hotel shop but over priced and be prepared to be followed around and a member of staff watch you like a hawk and comment /cross sell on everything you pick up. VERY OFF PUTTING. Also you can walk into local village St Felix and there is a bus station that takes you to lots of places on the island. The village is run down but if you want to escape hotel life and experience true Mauritian life it’s good to go and get a bus from there. 100 rupees for bus versus 3500 from the hotel is a no brainier. Understand it’s a high end hotel and most guests won’t want to walk into the village but 3500 for a trip that would be half the price in the UK is a complete rip off. I don’t mind paying but we had a taxi that took us 10-15k up the road and back for 3500 rupees - ridiculous. Also I was bitten (strangely only on my legs despite covering myself in high strength deet.) I do not believe they were mosquito bites - I know they spray the whole complex regularly but as many staff commented - likely Ants. Lots of ants. Tiny white and red ones and larger black ones. All bites I got at dinner in the evening in the decking at the Stars. One of the lovely ladies in the spa suggested rubbing lemon on my legs - it worked! I got no more after this. I wish I had known this on arrival and I would not have left looking like I had some terrible disease on my legs. Overall feel I paid a lot of money for a week which did not leave me feeling any better that when I arrived which completely defeats the object. Shame as the hotel and beach itself is stunning.

This is our last day at Shanti Maurice Resort. What a superb hotel total luxury and the staff were all amazing. Nothing was too much for them. They were so happy to have guests after such a long time without during the pandemic. We had a renewal of vows in resort and the guest manager Vandana was so so helpful and fantastic wedding coordinator she arranged everything we asked for and enjoyed the ceremony with us. The Rum Shed is the best atmosphere in the evening. Lively fun but still intimate and romantic. Such friendly staff particularly the bar man, Vimal with an excellent knowledge of all their many many rums. Our waiter with a smile Vishal greeted us so welcoming each visit. The personal butler and 24hr service is varied and tasty. We also had great service in the Stars restaurant variation requests were always accommodated and Shelia a really sweet waitress and Ajali helped us with a great knowledge of the local area. The villa was always kept spotless and mini bar topped up. Finally the spa. There is nothing that could compare to it in the UK. The treatments were chosen under the guidance of Dr Pragya Mishra and perfect for those areas that needed attention and therapists were so skilled. Of note the Reiki healing with Anul. We can't thank the managers and staff enough for there kindness and services and genuine happiness we were there. Will be returning for sure.
