Travelers' Choice
Originally built as a country escape for the Scott family, Wood Hall Hotel & Spa in Wetherby remains a tranquil country house hotel where today's pressures seem an age away. Ever since the house was completed around 1790, it has been a place of peace and relaxation. Fittingly, it currently stands next door to a Carmelite monastery, home to a order of nuns. However Wood Hall Hotel is not simply about quiet contemplation: the hotel offers 44 bedrooms, a 2 AA Rosette restaurant and a small health club and spa. Inspire your delegates with our training and meeting facilities, take over the house for your dream wedding or celebrate a special occasion in one of our private dining rooms.

Our family of 2 adults, 2 children (15 and 11) and small dog travelled to Wood Hall for a 2 night break. The setting is beautiful and on arrival we were warmly greeted and shown to our rooms. We had adjoining rooms which was ideal for us as a family and it was located to the left of the main hotel, we felt like we had our own cottage. The rooms were dark and could do with an update but appreciate situation regarding Covid and having been closed, no income etc. they were clean and spacious and that was what we wanted. The staff are exceptional, very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The food is very good and there is a good choice. We were given the drawing room to eat in so that the dog could be with us and the fire was lit for us. It is a lovely place and we went on walks, to appreciate the local area and views. Would definitely look to return as the service and setting was excellent.

We found this place via google and took a gamble, as we were looking for a quiet spa break for 1 night. The location is lovely, the hotel is clean and tidy. The girls in the Spa were friendly and the massage was great. Dinner was faultless, we loved the ambience of the dining area and the food was faultless as was the service. Checking in and out was fine, with all the staff being very polite and friendly especially Nicola. We are so pleased we can across this place and look forward to returning

Terrible. Paid for a deluxe dog friendly double room. Size of room was fine, however that was about it. Room was extremely dated, dark and at the back of the hotel, so only view was of a roof top. Service very poor, not really dog friendly, had to eat in the drawing room with our dog with everyone watching as they had their pre-meal drinks. Activities laid on over Xmas were in a room were dogs were not allowed. Service at bar was poor, had to ask at reception for service most times. Xmas evening meal had to wait for over an hour for main course, and it really wasn’t anything special a bit of chicken rapped in ham with one slice of fondant potato. Egg shells found in the eggs benedict at breakfast. Table set for dog friendly meals had to request different chairs as they used longe ones and when we sat on them our chins almost touched the table!! We had booked for 4 nights over Christmas stayed 2 and left on Christmas Day, couldn’t take anymore disappointment. Was told the manager would call us, still waiting 3 days later. One ruined Christmas. Certainly not worth the £2,135 paid

We stayed here for one night, all staff, every single one that we encountered were extremely polite and helpful. The staff really made this stay this little bit extra special. The hotel is in lovely grounds and there is plenty of parking. The decor of the room we stayed in was in keeping with the house although a little tired. The food was very nice and we would definitely stay here again.

Took my husband to Wood Hall for a surprise night to celebrate our 18 year wedding anniversary and his 60th birthday. I’d first been to Wood Hall when I was 14 on a catholic girls retreat and we got married there in November 2003. We’ve been back for meals, but this was the first time we’d stayed. It really didn’t disappoint. For a start, the long drive up to it is such a treat on a sunny day. All the staff were immensely careful and helpful with the pre-booking process and nobody spoiled the surprise for my husband. We stayed in the same Mulberry suite as on our wedding night and discovered that David Bowie had also stayed there! I’d pre-booked massages and, despite being late arriving at the hotel, the spa staff were extremely kind in fitting us in. We enjoyed the swimming pool, spa pool and steam room. Dinner in the restaurant was wonderful and we were so well looked after. Definitely have the Parkin dessert - to die for! The huge sleigh bed was just as comfortable as we’d remembered and there was a great choice of breakfast dishes the next day served at the table in the restaurant. The Christmas decorations had just gone up that day and the whole place looked super special. So excited to be back and we really hope not to leave it so long next time.
