We came to the Waterfront on December 24th, to spend Christmas and New year. We had such a fabulous time that we stayed an extra few days. Owner Robin and his small staff were so friendly, Mai especially went above and beyond, she was lovely, even bringing us 'treats' such as iced tea or breakfast sticky rice. The rooms are well equipped, shower great, with hot water! Swimming pool was lovely, proper steps to get in/out, full frontal beach view. There are two restaurants right outside, authentic Thai. The one on the corner makes lovely iced coffee, and is very busy with food deliveries. The accommodation is at the end of Fisherman Village, a short walk (about 150-200 metres) brings you to the start of the village, with its many restaurants and bars. So much food choice! We loved the Waterfront and the village so much that we returned later in January to stay for another 2 weeks, and cannot wait to stay again. Robin even picks up and drops you off at the airport, about a 10 minute drive away. …
Stayed for 8 days at the end of March. Great location on the beach, incredible view, around the corner from tourist amenities. Lots of options for dining, drinking and snacks. The hotel, like the entire area was devasted from the lockdowns and the loss of tourism. They are trying to claw their way back. As tourists begin to return, the hotel will be able to bring back more staff and re-open more facilities. This quiet little resort has great friendly staff and definitely provides for a relaxing comfortable stay. Relaxation was my goal for this trip, I was not dissapointed. I look forward to returning.
Overall nice clean hotel good pool well maintained every morning beach just ok Lots of restaurants and bars nearby Good restaurant for steak called the shack Lots of other places to eat and drink Hotel rooms good and clean
I stayed in bungalow 1 at The Waterfront for 10 days at the end of a 3 month trek through Thailand. My whole trip, all I wanted was a bungalow ON the beach (not near, not a view of, but ON) and a pool. You’d be amazed at how hard that is to find at a reasonable price. As soon as I walked through the entrance to the garden and saw the sign for reception, I knew I had finally found it. It felt like Fantasy Island. Bungalows edge the pool, and then there’s sand and water, and Koh Phangan in the background. For 10 glorious days, I was surrounded by the peace and serenity I was looking for. COVID has taken its toll on a lot of small hotels in the area and shut them down completely, others have been able to scale back additional service offerings and provide premium accommodations. The Waterfront is by far the best example of this, and they are poised to return to full operation as travel restrictions ease. Every day I saw members of staff maintaining and improving the grounds. Random thoughts: Air conditioning was cold. Refrigerator was cold. Shower was hot. Bed was super comfortable. The pool is kept meticulously clean. The landscaping is beautifully manicured. There’s a fantastic lounge area by reception with books to borrow. They offered access to the kitchen area for longer-term guests as the restaurant is currently shut down. While the beach isn’t the best for swimming, as there is a lot of coral and it is quite shallow, the benefit of this is that there are not tons of people sitting on the beach in front of your magnificent view. There are no jet skis flying in front of you making a bunch of noise. Bottles of water are delivered to the room every day, and fresh linens and towels were available every time I asked. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. The front desk booked taxis and restaurant reservations for me. Great conversation as well. I am looking forward to the day that the restaurant reopens and they offer their cooking class again. If I find myself on Samui long-term again, I will be sure to stay at the waterfront.…
Loved this place! Wished we could of stayed longer. Gorgeous views, very friendly staff and amazing location. Plenty of choices to eat and drink on your doorstep whilst having the gorgeous beach to wake up to each morning. Clean, spacious room with all toiletries etc that we needed. Clean pool. We couldn't want for more. Thanks for a great stay :)
This is a must if ever in Koh Samui. Robin the owner is a man after my own heart, loves his cricket! So friendly, warm and welcoming. The hotel is the perfect location, so peaceful with the most amazing views. Our villa was right on the beach, waking up to the most incredible scenery! If our stay was longer, would have been here for weeks. Covid has meant many businesses going through very hard times, so everyone very grateful for the visit. We will be back!
The Waterfront makes me feel a bit like Robinson Crusoe. The beach was virtually on our doorstep. Peaceful . Tranquil. Our room was spacious . Both aircon & fan & plenty of hot water. Swimming pool very clean. Staff quietly went about their work. Our owner/host Robin is a perfect gentleman & very helpful. Fabulous Thai Restaurant across the road and the glamour of Fisherman's Village shops, restaurants & bars only a 5 minute stroll away. This is my second stay at The Waterfront and it will be my permanent stay on future Samui visits.
I wanted to review this hotel after visiting for one night whilst in transit to Koh Tao. The reviews in general on here are excellent, so l just wanted to give the good and bad. Plus points- great location, right on the beach, quiet, great to be collected from the airport by Robin (no charge). Staff are friendly. Clean. Not so good- this resort is tired, our blind in the room was disintegrating and stuck together with sellotape! (See photo). The curtains were also well passed their sell by date. I do appreciate that thinks have been very difficult for these places with COVID and l don’t mean to appear picky, however, I wanted to give a more balanced view. We paid £30 for our night, which was fine, but l would have been disappointed to pay much more.
Perfect location, really friendly staff and rooms were very clean! We booked for 1 week initially then ended up staying for 2! Owner and staff would do anything for you, highly recommend this place! Right on the beach, peaceful but only a 5minute walk from the main restaurants and bars in Fisherman’s Village.
Not knowing the Fisherman Village area of Koh Samui, I initially only booked this hotel for two nights. After my two night stay I feel in love with both the hotel, the staff and the area and booked the remaining 45 nights at this hotel. You can conveniently walk to the main restaurant and bar area of Fisherman Village, 7/11 and Tesco without having to hire a taxi or motorcycle. The area has fantastic French, Australian, Italian, English Pub and Thai red restaurants mixed in as well as pubs with easy listening live music. The hotel is located right in the beachfront with a nice sparkling pool and lounge chairs. Each of the rooms has a view of the beach and water. My entire stay I had no issues with noise as this property was attracting mature adults and couples. The rooms are clean and had plenty of space as well as nice size bathrooms with hot water. Several rooms are separated bungalows with no common walls. Due to Covid no breakfast was available but there were several great choices for breakfast within walking distance. Even with Covid the owner Robin had enough staff to handle cleaning rooms, maintaining pool, raking leaves, etc. With my extended stay I really got to know the owner and his staff who really made my stay special. If you are coming to Koh Samui and want a quiet area with a nice boutique hotel experience, don’t miss the Waterfront Boutique Hotel. It was difficult leaving when my time was up to go home. I will definitely be back on future trips. These small hotels with this kind of staff are getting more difficult to find. It’s a little gem.…
