We chose this hotel because it was away from the bustle of Bophut and its markets. We were very glad that we did, it is a little gem. The staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble and they are so friendly.
We booked a beach view room which had a little veranda overlooking the sea and beach and we didn't really need to move anywhere else. We were a little perturbed on the first sight as the bed was on a raised platform with steps up and as we are not as young as we would like to be visions of falling came into our minds but it just made us extra careful. The bed was supremely comfortable and when we requested a mosquito net that was provided very quickly.
I had seen a photographic tour advertised online but when I spoke to the receptionist about it it was not run by a tour company that the hotel had heard of so we decided not to book it. Instead she arranged exactly the same tour for us with a local taxi driver that was connected to the hotel and really went above and beyond what one would have expected to do this for us. Excellent service. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon and saw a lot more of the island than we would otherwise have done.
The breakfast buffet was excellent and the food we ate in the restaurant was also very good, as was the service. In particular the shrimp cakes were to die for, I cannot recommend them highly enough.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, it was so relaxing.

Travelling as a couple we spent 4 nights at The Zazen in March 2020. It exceeded expectations in every way. Lovely welcome and the short walk to our beachfront room was stunning, through lush green trees and shrubs and cascading water. Our room was fantatstic, so much space and superb Aircon. The raised bed was quite stunning and unique. The three steps to the lovely beach were easily managebale. The sea was clean, warm and had a protected safe swimmimg area. The beach waiters were so helpful, friendly and efficient. The swimming pool was a dream with plenty of lovely shade from a beautiful tree. Plenty of lovely daybeds and relaxers.
The whole place had an aire of calm and relaxation. The bar and restuarant had panoramic views over the bay and fantastic menus with food cooked to order The whole place was clearly very well managed, clean and the staff immaculately uniformed and attentive.
Food portons were generous and the quality and presentation top class.
Management and owner were around at breakfast and happy to chat. They are so rightly proud of the hotel, staff and services . Thanks to all , especialy Delphine, Robin and Alexander.
This place is truly a most peaceful, relaxing, well manged totaly boutique hotel, set in superbly landscaped grounds . We did treta ourseves to one of the beach villas as we love the sound of the sea. The additional cost was so worth it.
We have travelled many parts of the World and we can safely say The Zazen experience ranks as one of our best . We live in the UK and can happily say, We will be back . Thank you. It was our pleasure to be your guest.

By driving into this lovely place, you can already feel the spirit. All the Zazen team is so friendly, warm welcoming and helpful, couldn't be more personal. This personal approach and passion to take care the guests is also present at the room decoration and throughout the Hotel. Fantastic rooms with good aircon and fan. Nice and private pool to relax. The beach is clean and well taken care and very safe. Thanks to all the wonderful team and to the owners for making my stay unforgettable. Zazen is definitely the best Boutique Hotel with 5 star restaurant I have seen on my many travels. I wish to be back soon. Thank you so much !!!

Hotel Zazen, Excellent Boutique Hotel in Bophut. My wife and I were there a full 7 days from march 10th to the 17th. An authentic boutique hotel on Bophut beach full of charm with beautiful design ( attention given to decor ) and somptuous gardens. Food is oustanding from breakfast, to diner and service throughout is excellent. Actually we had all our meals here for the full week. They serve both delicious authentic thaï cuisine and western ( and europeen). Ideal place for couples, less with children. We had reserved a basic room, with was a bit small and were upgraded after 2 nights in a beautiful large deluxe garden room which was well appreciated. If your going to Samui for a romantic get away, Zazen is not to be missed. Highly recommended. Enjoy! Normand

The service from the time you step in there to the time you leave is exceptional. You really are made to feel special. We where allowed to check in early and check out late to make the most of our stay, which was very much appreciated. You feel like you have walked into a little piece of paradise. The garden are beautiful and spacious. The hotel feels and looks like it belongs in the Middle East looking at it from the beachfront, never seen anything like it. We stayed in a beachfront bungalow, which as described is right on the beach. The room is large and well decorated. To be honest just wasn't a fan of the steps up to the bed, specially at night. But truly this is the only issue, and just personally. You have your own little sitting are outside your room, plus another on the beach for you to sit and have drinks. Plenty of sun beds. The beach towels are the biggest I've ever seen, perfect. The staff by the beach always there to help you with anything you want. The lovely free fruit stick in the middle of the day. The pool is great, lots large daybeds to sit on. Massage on the beach was great. I have written another review on the restaurant so won't say much here except to say, you must go. I don't think I've even said compliments to chief so much, every meal was exceptional. Basically I could go on and on about this place, and the staff and all in the most positive way. We booked to go to this hotel for my husbands 50th birthday in March 2021. The trip was booked in 2020 just before pandemic restrictions hit the UK. We booked directly with the hotel. When the pandemic hit we contacted to request a refund due to the circumstances and this was declined. We were advised we could postpone until 2022. We have tried to contact the hotel on numerous occasions vie email, WhatsApp, phone to request a refund due to the ongoing restrictions in Thailand. We have been completely ignored. We had a number of hotels booked in Vietnam and Thailand who have all now refunded due to the ongoing restrictions. It is disappointing that this hotel do not even see fit to acknowledge us anymore yet are still available to book, so it is fair to assume are still open. We always planned to re-book this trip when restrictions lifted. I do hope the hotel will read this and feel the need to respond and refund as requested in line with other hotels in Thailand.

The hotel has been closed for almost 3 years and we are now working on the re-opening to be accomplished in July 2023. Covid has hit a lot the small family owned businesses as ours, so we took a decision to keep the deposits of non-refundable bookings, but to extend the travelling dates, so our guests can still enjoy their stay with us on a later period - this was a current practice of the local hotels on Samui. We are sorry you didn't get a feedback on your emails - the office was closed for a certain time with a tiny team on the spot. To let you know, we are still happy to rebook you at the property until the 31st of December 2024. I hope you will have the possibility to visit us soon. I could not recommend Zazen more highly. We booked for 2 nights, and ended up staying 2 extra because the space is so lovely. Alexander and his wife are extremely friendly and welcoming, the staff is superb, and the food is delicious. Located right on the beach, it has all the amenities you could ask for; kayaks, SUPs, a fully equipped gym, spacious yoga room, pool table, extensive garden, pool, and great bar/restaurant. Rooms are large and well-decorated and they seem to be keen on making constant additions to the already spectacular property. 10/10, don't miss it!

That place! It amazed us from the very first steps. After a nice welcome drink you go to your room through a real garden. Such a beauty! Everything is designed like in Thai fairytales. Beautiful doors, flowers, fish, trees, hidden places for reading. It looks better than a botanic garden at my homeplace )) Very nice swimming pool under a beautiful tree, beach closeby. The room is very nice also designed in thai style with open bathroom. Everything is very clean! We really enjoyed breakfast as they made fresh shakes and juices by the request, and you can also have champagne for breakfast ;) In the evening there were thai dances in the restaurant. You can rent kayaks and SUPs for free, it is very fun. There is also a snooker table. I will be happy to come again next year!

We loved our stay here. The garden is simply beautiful. At night it is lit up beautifully. It has quite a European influence at breakfast, in my opinion the best I’ve had anywhere in a long time. Great coffee, amazing juices, the apple and ginger was gorgeous. The staff are great. The bed was sooo comfy and the pillows like air. There were some lovely touches... like fresh fruit, cold towels , delicious cold drinks brought around to people by the pool and the beach. Really special place, thank you Robin and all the staff especially the lovely receptionist.

As I am scrolling the restaurants for me to visit, I remembered Zazen, and it's time for me to give them a feedback because they took care of us before! We celebrated the birthday of my partner here in Zazen, and it was superb! We tried their specialties and we didn't regret to order it! The food was amazing! But what makes us more eager to come back here is the staff who made us feel welcomed, upon our arrival in the restaurant until we left, there is always smiles in their faces. Special mention to Ms. Tak for being so nice to us. They even prepared a surprise birthday song and cake for my partner and he was very happy! I hope we can visit again soon!

Good day and I'm happy to hear that you are coming to stay with us.
We provide, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, toothbrush, razor, hairdryer. They are very good and lemongrass smell. However, if you have a specific brand you prefer then I'd kindly advise you to bring your own.
Regarding Zazen Restaurant, a reservation is not mandatory, however if you wish to secure a good table by the sea view, for example, I would advise you to reserve. Allow me to inform you that on Thursdays and Sunday's we have a Traditional Thai Dance Show performance during the dinner period, from 8 pm-9 pm.
