Our stay did not start well. We did not see the hotel driver and it took quite a while before we were picked up. Turned out it was an outside car. We were told when we got back to the hotel they sometimes use outside car service to pickup their guests and it did leave us with a not so good first impression. Fortunately we really enjoyed the rest of our stay. First of all, the property was amazingly beautiful. It was like living in a jungle surrounded by the soothing sound of nature. We stayed at the Ocean Front Pool Villa Suite for 4 nights. Overall the room was nice except for the second bathroom with indoor shower which we never use. There was a strong smell of sewage and we did not want to get in there. The housekeeper also noticed that and she always left the bathroom door opened after cleaning and she burned essential oil inside to cover the smell. On the other hand, the outdoor shower in the main bathroom was wonderful so we totally forgot the other bathroom. Breakfast was really good. On top of a wide selection of items from the buffet, there was a menu for cook to order dishes. It is sad that they have a new chef for Dining on the Rocks and everything is different from what we had when we visited 3 years ago. The food is kind of boring now. This is a stunning venue and it deserves a more exciting menu. They gave out ice cream daily and there was complimentary cocktails and canapés during sunset hour sometime. We did grab a few free drinks with tasty snacks while we were watching the mesmerizing sunset by the pool. We visited the Spa twice and we enjoyed our treatments. Our bookings were made before our arrival to the resort. When we tried to add extra treatments, they were full booked for the day we preferred. To avoid disappointment, we highly suggest making spa appointments before you visit. We stayed at the Fourseasons, Ritz Carlton an W Samui in the past and we like this resort the most. We highly recommend this magical place and we will return for sure.…
Our stay did not start well, the promised drivers did not meet us at the Airport,or the Ferry. The General Manager apologised in person and saw to it that our stay was really enjoyable. We had New Year and then a birthday, and both occasions were truly memorable. Breakfasts were superb every day, and the foodie members of our group managed to try everything somehow. Our Villa with pool showed us a beautiful sunrise each morning from our bed, the Villas were well appointed and having a pool suited us. Like so much of the Island , the hotel was closed until March, and everyone is clearly trying to catch up on two years lost time and revenue. It is a credit to the staff and management that they have managed to deliver after such a short time back in business. It is the tropics , so use the provided insect repellent, and lots of sunscreen. Our GEM, Aumm, was lovely.…
This is an incredible hotel, so well maintained and manicured with such friendly and helpful staff. We had dinner twice on the rocks - which juts out into the sea, a stunning location. Rooms were immaculate and well maintained. Breakfast was great, loads of options of healthy and not so healthy. There were a couple of cocktail hours where they laid on complimentary cocktails and nibbles, good for mingling and nibbles were tasty! My only complaint would be the dining on the rocks - it’s trying to be fine dining but not quite getting there (yet). Sides dishes were extremely poor (yet pricey), something that could be so easily addressed, e.g. frozen fat fries (not the good type), absolutely terrible mash option that was definitely not made fresh and suspect it came in powder form. For these prices, that’s unacceptable and does not blend with fine dining. That said, all addressable and we had an incredible 4 nights there. Shout out to Kau Pim for the best massage ever, and Beth for looking after us so well!…
@sixsensessamui is a sanctuary of unspoiled natural splendor and serenity that feels vastly different from the party scene raging in Bangkok, Thailand. It’s not always easy to maintain a friendly environment. Six Senses steeped in local authenticity and implemented into local themed activities, such as Making Herbal Inhaler, Tibetan Singing Bowl, Co-Creative Space, Sustainability walk / Farm Experience, etc. That's what I like during my stay, truly an unforgettable experience! We had a pool villa, it was perfect! It features a private pool which is a decent size and well maintained, there is a sitting area on the pool terrace, so you can request for an in room dining. The main room was cozy with a high ceiling, air conditioning was excellent with an electric ceiling fan for extra cooling, indoor – outdoor living areas (cabana), working desk, mini bar, and spacious bathroom with an outdoor shower. It’s a perfect layout for a family. Overall, I would highly recommend this experience, especially to you who are looking for a honeymoon / family trip. Where to start…… considering the hotel was just really getting the ball rolling after nearly 3 years of Covid shut down it was superb. The location and the villas were great and considering it has been through 3 monsoon seasons empty any small points of fault would be being picky. The hotel is gradually sorting the wear and tear out….but it is nothing that gets in the way of the experience. Every time we drove up the drive you realised why you were staying there…the luxury and wonderful lighting at night drove it home. Fantastic…… The staff were excellent. A special mention to Kong who looked after us when we ate on the rocks and to Aot who works like a trojan by the infinity pool and he always had a big smile on his face! The food was very good and we made use of the fact that you could have a Thai cookery class….. which was brilliant. The menu on the rocks is slightly more western whilst the hill is real Thai. Prices were competitive with what could be found at the Fisherman’s Village and the only thing that was expensive everywhere was wine. Our villa and infinity pool was superb….. however we found that the sun didn’t find it’s way into the seating area before sun set….. not that that mattered as the main infinity pool was the place to be!! Aot kept us topped up with iced water and Singha!! There is also a spa which offers Thai massage and this is very professionally laid out. The rooms were tidied up everyday and the blinds and insect net dropped before we got back at night. Marieke (Dijkhuis), the general manager, was available and “about” ensuring that everyone was happy and content. She has a great team and Six Sense are lucky to have them all. All in all it was a holiday (Honeymoon!!) to never forget and we will be going back in a couple of years. …
Beautiful location . The room was nice but maintenance needed . Staff were nice but well trained needed . Our room manager , Khun Peung was very nice . She was so friendly , helpful and always giving a service with smile but a female staff with pony tail during the dinner time was awful in terms of service .
From talking with some locals before our stay, clearly Six Senses has carved out a deep respect with the Samui population, and we found out why when we got there. Eco friendly tourism, sustainability, carbon neutral… these environmentally conscious catch phrases are bantered about quite often nowadays, but when going on a luxury stay I’m more concerned about the pampering experience than anything else. Six Senses manages to deliver on both. On day one, we toured around the resort and were surprised by the depth that Six Senses Samui lived up to addressing environmental concerns. They grow a lot of the vegetables that they use themselves, and they did away with cut and burn of vegetation by making their own mulch and keeping a herd of goats on site (a fun pastime for kids is feeding them). They also keep live fish, ducks and chickens, as well as having a workshop dedicated to recycling as much as possible of what they use. The resort is set on a hillside along the coast, allowing natural elevated views of the turquoise sea from our villa, and where most other resorts go for a manicured look, here you’re most definitely a part of nature. This unfortunately results in a downside of there being mosquitoes around, which the resort deals with by providing free repellant everywhere in different forms. The views are spectacular, and the luxurious thatched roofed villas fit in nicely to its surroundings. Even though our villa has its own pool we still enjoyed using the larger resort infinity pool because of its beautiful setting. The sun sets directly opposite from where you sit beside the pool allowing for some stunning photo ops. They also have a great beachside pool too that gives great Instagram'able shots. They also offer a lot of health and well-being activities, cooking classes and an assortment of water sports. We tried the couple’s spa. The open-air milk bath facing the sea was very memorable, and the masseuses were some of the best we’ve ever experienced. Most memorable moment though had to be our dinner at their Dining on the Rocks restaurant, which is a must try for any romantic getaway, let alone a honeymoon. The premier table there is table 99, which sits apart from the rest of the restaurant so is quite private, but it’s completely outdoors so it’s only available when the weather is good. It’s also in high demand so book it well in advance! The table comes with a bed seating which we lounged on between courses. When you do go there make sure you go before the sun sets so you get to really enjoy the view, because when it gets dark you can’t see that much out past the cliff. But, of course, you still have the moon and stars to gaze upon. Oh, and the food there is fantastic too!…
It was a different type of experience, a beautiful and happy one. Marieke and her staff spare no effort to help and provide all needed to really enjoy. The App we used was helpful and made communications so easy and planning timely Everyone was serving was a smile. The views from the room are stunning. The food is amazing. Everything was perfect. Thanks slso yo MAY, our GEM
Six Senses offered extremely comfortable beds and rooms, and the villa pool was great. And very enviro friendly, no plastics, recycling everything possible, and working hard to minimise waste and impact of environment. Lots of free eco-friendly activities available, like painting with natural dyes, Thai floral arranging, making degradable drinking straws, farm visit, goat feeding, etc. Beach stuff too, kayak, volleyball and swimming in the cove. A very good indoor fitness centre, and cool outdoor workout area with wooden weights. The restaurants were fabo, great food, and welcoming staff. Yum, yum, yum. The gardens and grounds are beautiful for walking or running around. And as it is on a peninsula, if the weather is windy on one side, the other is calm. And the wellness and Spa offers are amazing, with sensational massages and invigorating yoga. A great resort retreat to unwind, chill out and reenergize. I loved it, and recommend it highly.…
We have just come back from the most wonderful 9days at the resort . The care and attention provided by the staff was fantastic . Not intrusive but very responsive to any question or query we had . Special thanks go to Ploy our GEM who was so knowledgable and looked after for our stay and came in on her day off to say goodbye . We spent time at the spa and would absolutely recommend the Indian head massage and Nourishing ritual treatment . The girls are lovely and very good at what they do . Everything about the resort from the food to accommodation was of such a high standard . We would recommend it as well as a trip out the the night market and fire show on the beach at Coco Tams in Fisherman’s village .
