Detailed Reviews
I was looking for somewhere to stay on Koh Samui that met the following criteria:
* somewhere comfortable where I could self isolate with the minimum of contact with others;
* where I could prepare my own meals;
* close to the airport while I sorted out flights out of Samui;
* where I could stay for an indefinite amount of time.
Samui Boat Lagoon ticked all the boxes.
After checking in and one of the staff showing me how everything worked, I did not need to interact with them again until I checked out. There was no walking through hotel lobbies with lots of people.
Every villa was very private with a high fence all around. Inside was a large bedroom with a king size bed and plenty of wardrobe space, and the largest bathroom I think I have ever seen, with a walk-in shower and twin wash basins. There is an area outside under cover for sitting and a table and two chairs. The amenities include an electric jug, toaster, microwave, cook-top, sink and a good size fridge. Along with pots and pans, plates and cutlery and even a first aid kit. The TV is in this section. Between this living area and the bedroom is your very own plunge pool with two sun lounges and umbrella.
If you like to swim laps there is a huge public pool just a few meters away. There is direct beach access which is usually quite deserted, a car park and is walking distance to a 7/11 shop for basic needs The staff can arrange the rental of a motor bike or car if needed. Best of all is the proximity of the airport with a booking office just ten minutes drive away.
Samui Boat Lagoon will be open for all of April and there were some other guests who were stuck trying to get international flights home who had decided to extend their holiday and had booked in for a month.
For me this was a safe and comfortable haven in these very challenging and uncertain times.

The location was fantastic. The free airport transfer was great. They also offer a free transfer daily to a big beach nearby. The front desk will assist with any excursions you are interested in. The hotel itself doesn't have a restaurant but the one next door will deliver room service. We ate there a number of times during our stay and loved the food. We used the safe in the room without any trouble. Overall, we were surprised at how safe we felt on the entire island. We stayed in a one bedroom villa and was impressed by how spacious it was. Very secluded, romantic, beautiful gardens, friendly staff and great wifi. The closest 7-11 is a three minuet walk to the left and the best massages we had were at the place right across the street - C&N - the lovely ladies were very responsive to our personal needs unlike most others we tried. We used the hotel laundry service. We were told it would take 48 hours but everything was returned within 24 hours and in perfect condition. We would stay here again.

This hotel is beautiful and so peaceful. Lovely staff and though the beach may not be perfect to some it is quiet, very pretty and the water is fine for cooling off even if it’s not deep enough to swim.
Contrary to other reviews there are a few restaurants, a very good massage/beauty salon, laundry, bike/car rental, 7-11 and street food stalls, all within 5 minutes walk. A 5-10 minute walk takes you to the main Bangrak strip close to Big Buddha where you can find everything you need, with Choeng Mon only 5 minutes by songthaew in one direction, less than 10 minutes to Bo Phut and Fisherman’s Village in the other direction.
This place is fabulous and having stayed at many different places in Thailand over the last 36 years this is one I will definitely return to for peace and R&R.

We stayed at the Samui boat lagoon for 5 nights in March. They arranged pick up at Samui airport and it’s a short drive to the accommodation. On check in the first words out of the receptionist mouth was “you’ll have to change villa tomorrow at 2pm as we have a guest arriving h who has resisted the villa your staying in and we are fully booked” as you can imagine, not a great start and I advised that my booking had been made 14 months ago so there really was no need for this to happen!!! I really wasn’t getting anywhere with it! Wouldn’t say customer service is great here. The villas however are lovely as you have an outside kitchen area and obviously a lovely plunge pool. However they certainly aren’t the cleanest I’ve been in and found I was antibacterial spraying every service, don’t forget this isn’t an SHA+ accommodation and now I can see why!
If there’s one thing I can advise is to bring a suitcase full of mosquito repellent! The mosquitoes are the worst I’ve ever seen and I know Samui has a tropical climate so it’s to be expected but it doesn’t help that you have an outside shower (which is lovely) but what isn’t lovely is that there is no drainage for the water to run away, it just runs into soil beside the shower and this is where the mosquitoes are nesting…not nice at all!
There is no bar or restaurant at the property however you can order in or walk a couple of minutes down the road to a place called stop@sopa. The food is absolutely beautiful as is the staff! Very good pricing too. There also a 7 11 at the end of the driveway to the property.
It Also states that the property is right on the beach…..it’s not, given it’s only a 2 minute walk away but it certainly isn’t a beach for lounging, it’s more of a working beach.
So going back to the changing of villas. We we told a time between 12 &2 that we had to pack our stuff up again and move so really that day was wasted as we had to pack our things up again and move to another villa and then unpack again.
the reception isn’t 24/7 either so for example our safe wouldn’t open, all of our cards and money was in there and thankfully it was 5.30pm when we noticed so ran down to the reception where they were packing up to leave for the night, if we’d missed them we wouldn’t have been able to go for dinner that night, there is literally no one else to speak to when the reception closes!
If it wasn’t for the fact we had a private pool I would certainly not be staying here again as I think you can get better value for money elsewhere.
It states in the little book we had in our villa that they strongly advise scooter rental, I don’t see why as it’s like every other small island. As long as you know how to ride and wear a helmet you’ll be fine, if you didn’t have s scooter you’d be stranded!!!!

Samui boat lagoon falsely advertised and unsafe
We’d booked to stay three weeks on Koh Samui at Samui boat Lagoon Luxury pool villas.
Nothing is luxury about this place.
I will be adding more pictures and videos text, but am still on Koh Samui having my vacation break which I’ve worked had for and was looking forward to. But I feel it is only fare to other travels not to let them go through what me and my partner have just had to endure, by staying at Samui boat Lagoon Villas.
There doesn’t seem to be may reviews of this place, why? As it’s still a building site, you’d never guess from the price though or what they tell you when your booking and paying them.
Nobody picked us up from the airport, we were delayed but they had all our flight details, no reimbursement of our taxi fares was offered.
We arrived to be taken down a very small alleyway (the back entrance) to our Luxury pool villa where our first question was that swimming pool doesn’t look large enough?
Upon trying to find someone as there are no telephones in the villas, I quickly found lots of builders (local builders who don’t speak English, but hey not their fault, I can’t speak Thai either) who pointed me to the manager. He confirmed the pools were only 5 by 2 metres not 6 by 3 meters long and that it wasn’t his fault if our holiday agent has a different size on their site. Also the main pool was a complete mess of floating dirt and debris and wasn’t ready.
I expressed mine and my partner’s displeasure at the building works and they offered us a full refund, but at the busiest time on Koh Samui it took us three days of running up international mobile phone charges (calling the UK at £0.85 per min calling hotels in Thailand at £2.25 per minute) and taking taxi’s around the island to try and find accommodation. Having just spent several months prior to coming, this wasn’t the vacation I was looking for. I’d be surprised if my phone bill for these three days comes in at under £500
The owner moved us to the beach Villas which he kept telling us he charges £250 per night for.
1) It wasn’t booked, so it shut us up and allowed us to look for other accommodation.
2) The main pool and swimming pool we’d booked was as published/ completely finished so hardly what we though we were getting for a holiday. Although he considered it an upgrade or gesture of goodwill on his part, it was no hardship on the owner’s part to put us in an un booked villa for 3 days and in no way made up for the lies we had been told to get us to book here in the first place. We were unable to enjoy this villa as we spent all our time trying to find alternative accommodation. Also, on booking us in to this villa the manager advised we sleep in one of the back bedrooms to minimise the noise disturbance from the continual comings and goings of the boats – an immediate admission to the villas being in a noisy area.
My partner didn’t use the swimming pool in the GRAND luxury pool beach villas, but I did. After two days I had come up in blisters and a spotty rash all over my lower body. I own a professional swimming pool company dealing with commercial and domestic swimming pools. I asked the owner and manager what they did to maintain the water quality between guests, their response was there is nothing wrong with the water and maybe I wasn’t used to the sun! I advised them that with many guests and families using the swimming pools is it possible that maybe a child or adult may have had an upset stomach and may have passed bacteria into the pool water? I know from work that sometimes pools have to be disinfected if people with upset stomachs may have been in and passed something to the water. They knew nothing of water treatment or pool maintenance, which personally I believe is their responsibility and something they should be aware of.
There are not shops or vending machines at Samui boat lagoon, it is 15 mins walk to a “7 eleven” and the nearest restaurant isn’t walking distance you will need a car to stay at this place.
Be aware of the entire street dog when you walk to the shops they aren’t the friendliest animals late at nigh
There are no guest services or tour helpers, at Samui boat lagoon or near by get ready to go on line if you can get a signal and if you brought a laptop.
There isn’t any internet facility unless you brought your own computer and as long as you can pick up the limited slow Wi-Fi this worked in the beach villa but not by the pool or the other villa.
The villas, including the luxury beach villas “I-Pod docking music players” is actually a cable plugged into an old stereo which you’ll need assistance with tuning in to get the right settings to play your music. The stereo I guess was purchase second hand or was given to them, another example of them cutting costs and prompting something which we didn’t expect.
There is cable TV but in Thai with very few English channels.

At first when I booked through booking.com hotels were limited so I selected what I thought would be an experience and an opportunity to spoil myself even though the price was steep! After 2 weeks of my booking I found out hotels options in koh Samui were available I found a better hotel at a more affordable price and couldn't change my booking as the Samui Boat Lagoon has already taken off payment from my card.
Arrival shuttle from airport poor no communication no greeting no assistance! Check in poor un- in inviting, was just given my room key no explanations were given on hotel facilities, restaurants or where reception is even located.
Having your own villa was wow! But what's the point linen used is torn, housekeeping poor they only change of linen if you ask them to, pillow covers ripped n bed sheet stains were torn.
Bathroom amenities limited only shampoo, shower gel n cotton buds so if you forgot your toothbrush or cotton pads forget it you will get nothing. No facial tissue I had to call in for hotel to get me a box of Kleenex.
General housekeeping poor for the standard advertised and price. Housekeeping staff not polite and don't replenish supposedly.
No restaurant on site so no breakfast, closet supermarket or mini market is a 15 minute walk. Restaurant near by is a 10 to 15 minute walk,be prepared to be bitten by a 1000 of mosquitoes on route. In house menu can be arranged from outside provided you order over 300bht n more and certain times only.
Hotel location very bad far from the beach you can take hotel shuttle but only three times a day for trips. Far from the Main Street n even further from the action areas like a mall etc. if you ask reception to organise you a taxi be prepared to pay triple the rate.
My room was the furthest room
31 so a good 6 minute walk to reception.
Reception and Front Office staff the worst I have ever experienced, not helpful, not knowledgable, poor attitude, no guest interaction and very rude. Don't ever take their advice cause it's all about commission on where they recommend you e.g the spa I asked about. Paid a fortune for crap! My fault I didn't research well. Ensure that Ms. Tom reception staff does not attend to you as she's absolutely unfriendly and extremely stern and abrupt. She doesn't understand English and thinks she knows what you want and in the end the total opposite.
In general hotel overly priced, bad location, poor service and not a perfect getaway for relaxation. Oh! N hotel is a mosquito paradise I had to go to a doctor and to a pharmacy for medical attention. Research well in the area for better hotels with affordable prices and for great guest satisfaction. Met friends while on holiday and when I discovered their hotels n what they paid I was speechless.

we were collected from the airport, wee delay but nothing major. Villa is very nice just like the pictures. Cleaned every day if you wish, some roadworks going on round about you don't here them, just make your journey to the main road a bit tricky but certainly not a big issue. Pool was such a bonus , reception very helpful . We hired a scooter for 3 days and saw the whole island and more for less than £20 including petrol. Drive sensibly keep yer eyes open and don't drink, and you shouldn't have any issues, out of hotel first hire place on your left, they will give you discount for more than 2 days. Lots of local wild life it is sub tropical so you will see lizards, dragon flies etc in your garden Mosquitos are the worst so get some protection or bring it with you. So all in all very nice stay and value for money would certainly return. Take the wee complimentary torch out with you at night, if for no other reason than to let the locals on scooters know you are there.

Travelled with 5 adults and 3 kids and we decided to stay in Samui Boat Lagoon. We love the place with its own private pool, kitchen and dining. The problem is on the transportation, it is not easy access to restaurant or shopping. It's also expensive to rent a call from hotel to outside. Have to walk about 10 minutes to reach 7-11. The good things are the place is very quiet and relaxing for big group of people. Remember to bring mosquito killer...the rest is all fine

My partner and I just stayed here for 10 nights. I booked this hotel based on other tripadvisor reviews. I was not disappointed. Clean, easy to access, friendly staff. We hardly ventured out to the resort pool because we had our own private pool. There are a few restaurants near by, walk out of the resort driveway and turn right to acces them. Thai Garden is the closest but not the cheapest. Diva resort is nice if you are looking for something a little more special for dinner on the beach. They also do happy hour cocktails! Sopa just a little more walk down the road as you head out doesnt look like much during the day but at night it is very good.
Hire a bike! We did for about 200-300 baht a day. A taxi to Chaweng will cost you about 400baht one way, so you do the maths. It's not so bad on a bike, you need to just be careful and go with the flow.
There are about 3 bike hire places a stones throw away. WEAR YOUR HELMETS! please....
You can hire massages from the resort although its a bit more expensive at 500baht the ladies are good and they come to your villa.
Very basic kitchen cooking equipment but we managed to do a full cooked breakfast most days after we had been shopping for ingredients. You have a microwave, toaster, kettle, few pots and pans and cutlery. There is a family mart and 7 eleven on the corner as you enter the road to the resort. Can do this on foot but will take you about 15 mins. Basic food items available like eggs, bread, butter, milk, snacks and chocolate etc etc and booze! BEWARE, they only take cash no card!
If you stay in villas by the resort pool it could get noisy.
The resort staff can book tours for you. It's easier for them to do it then you, better communication. You will be charged a 3% credit card surcharge.
This resort has no restaurant or bar so you will need to head out for drinks and food everyday unless you stock up your full sized fridge with supplies. The resort will stock you with 2 bottle of water each day.
The beach is non existent, nice for an early morning stroll to watch the fishermen go about their day.
It takes about 20mins on foot to get to the Big Buddha. Do not miss the temples on the main road to the resort, before you hit the 7 eleven shops. Not advertised much to tourists and possibly the best we visited on the entire island. It has about 4 temples on this huge complex and a lake filled with hungry huge catfish that you can feed, costs about 20baht for fish food. You can walk there from the resort. Turn right out of the driveway and head down the road for about 5 mins. The temples are on your left, tucked away from the roadside, just walk in the driveway. Its called Wat Plai Laem. Ask the staff they will tell you the way.
All in all a wonderful place to rest your weary head. Beds are hard but hey just get a massage!

Sorry I don't know this wasn't a trip that we undertook.
Hi! There are a few of these villa's with private pool, and I think there will be sun and shaded pool's, our one had mostly sun, but the villa's with two seperate room have the pool squeezed in the middle, and might have more shade.
Hope that helps, maybe request what you need at booking.
Regards
Marilese
