We were a group of 6 adults family and friends, first time on Koh Samui. First impression was not good as the entrance to the resort was a narrow unmade track with no indication that a hotel was there. After that we had a warm welcome and very friendly reception crew. Our original villa booked was not available as not finished being made, but we were upgraded at no extra cost to the 3 bed beach front villa. Highly recommend booking this option as you get gorgeous views of the beach and sea. The whole place is very clean as it’s all quite new. It’s a great location on the beach, not too far from the airport and walking distance from the Fishermans Village for eating and drinks. We did eat at the Karma resort and the food was delicious. The reception arranged taxi minibuses for our group for short trips and days out. All very reasonable. Few teething issues but Charly was quick to respond. The only downside we found was the outside loo and bathrooms were a challenge as not air conditioned like the bedrooms and a fight with mosquitoes as you sit on the loo! The floor near the pool and the Lilly pad stepping stones were very slippery when wet. Some complimentary drinks in the villa was a nice touch too. Overall we would recommend it, but possibly not with small children.

Karma Resort is a boutique hotel or rather a series of contemporary villas set amongst tropical gardens and a giant Koi pond. Each one accessed via a central walkway which snakes though the resort.
The rooms are great. The bed was comfy and the rooms were clean and relaxing. Ours had a courtyard with private plunge pool which was perfect to cool down in at the end of a hot day while our bathroom had an outdoor shower which was also a nice touch.
The staff are always helpful and friendly. Queen at reception is brilliant at recommending places, organising taxis or transfers, scooters etc. She's always onto a request straight away. The cleaning staff always say hello and make sure you're being taken care of too; bringing extra bottled water to your room if you need it etc.
The restaurant was good for meals. Breakfast was delicious with a good selection of healthy and filling breakfast options and we also visited a couple of times for evening meals too. The food was always good - although their pizzas do strangely resemble a basic pizza with a lot of salad and toppings delicately placed on top, rather than baked into?!
The Spa had a competitive menu of treatments. We sought a couple of aloe vera massages after being caught out in the sun one morning and found them thoroughly relaxing. The gym had a decent selection of equipment also, if you fancy a workout.
It might be worth noting that the resort is a decent 15 minute walk along the beach from the main area of Fisherman's Bay (even longer via the main road) and the sand can be a bit of a challenge at the end of an evening. If you want to be near the action it maybe worth staying somewhere a little more central or hiring a scooter. We tended to get a taxi or tuk-tuk.
Overall we had a very enjoyable time at Karma and would definitely recommend the resort if you want somewhere a little more quiet and a little further from the hustle and bustle of Fisherman's Bay.

What a place! What a service! 💖 We stayed at Karma from 22nd Dec 2024 for a week in a 4 person villa. I must say it was the best place we’ve ever stayed at. We are to adults, and two boys, aged 12 & 16.
We were greeted at the airport on Koh Samui and our driver handled all our luggage, and the short drive to the resort was comfortable and cool. Lovely service at the reception, which greeted us with cold Thai tea and cool towels. And again our luggage was taken care of to our villa, which a member of staff took us to. We had free bottled water as much as we needed, which was refilled every day, and free spirits for a little drink in the afternoon.
Our villa was immaculate. Fully equipped kitchen, including a bbq and a pool bar. Clean, delicate rooms, bathrooms and kitchen, and the pool was clean (and cleaned & tested by pool maintenance whilst we were there).
The food is lovely, which you can order delivered to your room (breakfast, lunch & dinner) or enjoy at the peaceful restaurant. Fresh, delicious and delicate courses. And the restaurant staff help you reserve a sun lounger or a sunbed if you wish. You get fresh towels any time you want.
All the staff, from housekeeping, receptionists, staff at the restaurant and management were all so lovely and helpful. They didn’t let us do anything, and they were so service minded at all levels. The spa is amazing! So friendly and helpful. We all had different treatments each, and loved them all.
We are now staying at a different resort and we were so disappointed coming here. So we have asked to come back to Karma for our last few days. They managed to get us in due to a cancellation, and offered to pick us up for free, as returning customers.
From Karma you can walk to many different lovely restaurants and Fisherman’s Village with a great night market and some more vibrant life.
I cannot recommend Karma enough. Love it, and so do the rest of the family too!

We booked 15 days at the Karma and changed hotels after 9 days! The owners do good marketing, but that's about it. We had a room with a terrace, but you couldn't use it when it rained because the seats got completely soaked. You can't use it either because of a permanent construction site next door. The grinder, drill, etc. roar from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The terrace is so dimly lit that you can't even find the lock on the entrance door. The seat cushions inside and outside are stained; if you're sensitive, it's better to put a towel under them. There's a 3 cm gap between the outside shower and the bathroom, which means that when it rains, the entire bathroom is under water. The outside shower only has cold water, although there are taps for hot and cold water. The inside shower is not separated from the bathroom, and here too the water sits on the stone floor, which can be very slippery. There's no shelf for shower utensils; you can just put everything on the floor. The shower is not height adjustable, otherwise the whole rod would come out of the wall. The cleanliness of the fittings, sinks, floors and the soap dispensers provided is abysmal. The path to the hotel is not lit, so always have a flashlight with you. If you want to relax from the construction noise and the wet terrace, the best thing to do is go to the beach... and lie down in the sand, that's easier on your back, because the hotel has pretty shabby wooden loungers without cushions! You'll get sick of breakfast after a few days. This might be enough for a day trip, but if you're planning on staying here longer, we can only advise against it! Maybe we didn't understand the motto of this accommodation, but to adorn yourself with 4 stars is almost cheeky for the price.

The concept and design are nice with a lot beautiful plants. The location is convenient at a walking distance to fisherman’s village and a short ride from the airport or the Lomprayah pier to Ko Tao/Pangan.
But overall the service is below from what is expected at this price point. Some of the staff were nice but mostly the atmosphere isn’t great and staff don’t seem very happy, not necessarily welcoming or friendly. Also although the design and ideas are nice, it is not very well constructed and is not aging nicely as it doesn’t seem to be getting the maintenance it would need. Taps and shower only half kind of work with some broken faucets, the outdoor shower even though very appealing as a concept, didn’t work properly. Everything is chipped, scratched or stained and mould is growing in many areas. Cleanliness wasn’t on point either, with stains left in many locations, in the bathroom, toilets, floors, furniture and curtains…
Another unpleasant thing, was to be informed of construction noise occurring during the day as a new resort is being built next door at the moment (April 2023). I was informed only after the non refundable booking was fully processed, without being given the option for a refund. I suspect they made bookings to be non refundable only for this reason.

Dreamlike hotel, good food, extremely friendly and fun team both in the restaurant and in the beach area. We were there 12 days and had a room with private pool - is highly recommended! - especially the room "Kundalini" (there are no leaves falling into the pool). Sunbeds on the beach are always available (let the desired ones be reserved the night before). Thanks to the great team - it was a wonderful stay with you. Sandra and Martin

We stayed at the Karma resort for 8 magical days, to sum this up: luxury in the Thai boho-chic style . The resort is beautifully designed, pool big enough , amazing private beach and a boutique atmosphere - calm, pleasant, not crowded. Breakfast is served by the plate - much better than a big buffet where you eat too much … The stag is kind, professional and attentive . Location not far from the fisherman village (10 min walk). Near the resort there are cheap washing machines, Thai food restaurants, the best place for massage and more … a perfect combination between isolated quite resort while close to market and restaurants WOW is the one word to describe the whole experience

First things first: We have travelled a fair bit and have seen quite a few hotels. I have to say that Karma is among the top when it comes to style. Be it the style of the villas, the ponds and plants or the interior design - somebody did invest a lot of thought (and likely money) into this. The room was big enough for us and our two children (one in an extra bed, the other one in our bed). It was nice to have our own little pool as the main pool area can get pretty busy, especially on weekends. This is also due to the fact that outside guests are allowed to the pool area. As a result, you need to book your spot a day in advance. In our opinion hotel guests should be given preference. We were there for six days and during the day there was noisy building work right next to the hotel (see picture). We presume that Karma will get an extension, but we do not know for sure. We found the noise to be quite loud at times and felt that this should have been communicated by the hotel before arrival in order to give guests the opportunity to cancel. The room included breakfast but we had to pay another 500BHT/day for the breakfast of our second child. Given that the choice of breakfasts is big enough yet limited (e.g. only one hot drink included), we think that breakfast is overpriced. Also, we felt rushed at times, as restaurant staff tried to take away our plates immediately after we had finished (or even before). Altogether, it‘s a great hotel with a lot of style. However, given the issues regarding noise, pool area and breakfast, we would probably not return.

Today, my partner and I went to the Karma Resort (hotel, Beach Club & Restaurant) to have lunch and swim in the sea and in the pool. The hotel and bar/restaurant premises and the pool are beautiful. Despite making a reservation, when we arrived at 11 am nobody knew about it or received us, and we spent more than 30 minutes lying on the pool beds without any attention or service. Then I decided to approach the manager/bar tender?, a very friendly Canadian citizen, and requested him towels and a drink list. There was a slim local waiter wandering around but he was of no help. I had to start opening the big umbrella, because this guy was good for nothing. Finally, after one hour a waitress came to take our drink order, and believe it or not the Resort had run out of tomato juice for the Bloody Maries, so I have to order a Mai Thai instead. For lunch, we ordered a Shrimp ceviche and Beach Flower scallops as appetizers, and a Pork chop and a Lab tuna for seconds, but the waitress brought all the dishes together!!! Adding two sodas, the billI came for 2,320 Bahts ($67.35), which was reasonable for the good food. Happily, they did not charge us the usual 10% of service, because this was the worst of the experience. I will return when they change the waiters.
