The saccharum hotel is an amazing holiday destination, with the beach located opposite. The hotel is beautiful, the attention to detail is outstanding, it has an infinity pool, a beautiful spa, a lounge and plenty more. The members of staff are attentive and helpful. One member of staff in particular named Diageo, made our stay even more memorable by going above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our holiday, this involved him planning day trips for us. He made our holiday perfect! We will definitely be visiting again soon.
An incredible resort hotel with everything you would want. Fabulous ocean views. An exclusive section dedicated to those wanting more privacy and service. Two outdoor adult pools (1 being an amazing infinity pool), children's pool, and an indoor pool. A very comprehensive spa facility available at additional cost. Several restaurants and bars. Excellent buffet for breakfast and dinner. Entertainment and activities are provided. Super room with rainforest shower stall. Robes and slippers are provided. A great balcony on some rooms with view. Security controlled access to hotel floors. Manuel at Reception was very helpful and courteous. Only negative is the lighting inside the hotel is a bit dark.
I visited this hotel with a friend for a few days in May. We wanted a chilled out time and that is exactly what we got and so much more! LOCATION - the hotel is located in Calheta, a small marina area about 40 minutes drive from the airport. The hotel overlooks the sea and has mountains behind. There are two small man made beaches in Calheta & a rocky beach. There is a few more hotels and a small strip of restaurants. There is also a small supermarket a short stroll from the hotel too. There are stunning views of the sunset from the hotel. ROOMS - the rooms here are amazing! We had a sea view room and had a large balcony to enjoy the views, with two chairs and a table. The hotel is dimly lit with mood lighting and the corridors have the room numbers on the ceiling. When you enter the room it is straight into the bathroom area. It had a large sink area with mirror and hairdryer. There is a toilet and bidet surrounded by a darkened glass surround and sliding door. There was also a large glass walk in shower that has frosted glass, but no door! The shower is actually see through, so this can be a bit awkward when travelling with friends.i think this hotel is definitely designed for couples. But regardless of this the room was still great. The second part of the room had a very large bed which was so comfortable! The tv was huge and champagne was left on ice for us because it was my birthday. The room had blackout curtains and a range of lighting. It was very designer and modern. FACILITIES- the hotel had an indoor pool, a kids pool, an amazing infinity pool and a few other small pools. The main pool area was on the roof and had amazing views of the sea and mountains. It was extremely calms and peaceful, the perfect chill out place. There was a bar/restaurant and the cocktails were lovely. On a night there was a bar overlooking t here sunset with live music and again this was so chilled out. It had comfy chairs and bean bags. There Was a well equipped gym and a beautiful spa. The reception are was so amazingly beautiful with lit up stairway and dimmer lighting, flowers and candles. There was also a carpark there for those with cars. FOOD - the breakfast here was so lovely and a large variety of food. Cold meats, fish, sausages, eggs, freshly cooked omelettes & pancakes, pastries, cheeses, breads and the list is endless. We were definitely spoiled for choice and loved breakfast time. We ordered food to our room one night and it was delicious! Every item of food we ordered was absolute gorgeous and we are very impressed with the quality of food. OVERALL- we loved this hotel and Madeira, both are totally beautiful & perfect in every way. I will definitely return to this hotel, i missed it since I stepped out the door. It is the most chilled out place I’ve been and I f felt totally refreshed and rejuvenated after my stay there. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Just perfect.…
We haven't even checked out yet but I have to write this glowing review. This hotel is amazing! First and foremost the staff provide the absolute best service and are so kind, attentive and go the extra mile to make your stay special. We have had a double celebration with an anniversary and birthday and on both occasions the staff have remembered and complimented us with champagne in our room, a lovely surprise....thank you so much! Our room is perfect with the most idyllic view and I thank the cleaning staff for the welcome tidy and perfectly clean room that we come back to each day. The hotel as a whole is luxurious, relaxing and extremely peaceful and we especially love the 8th floor facilities with infinity pool and its incredible views and the whole layout centred around the bar/restaurant. We had the most memorable afternoons lazing on this level gazing out on the beautiful ocean in front of us. Other details? Breakfast - so many choices, something for everyone and fresh delicious food as well as champagne if you're in the mood for celebrating like we were. As I've said before, the staff are beyond brilliant! People making other people happy, it's that simple! No fake charm, genuine human warmth! Thank you Saccharum, we will be back again, and again and again......…
We had a clean, large room, a good breakfast, and the hotel grounds were well maintained and had a relaxing ambience. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. Good service for excursions and the transfer to Funchal. Simply great: the hotel team thought of my birthday and surprised me with champagne and cake. Thanks very much!
this hotel has an upscale vibe, very nice as you walk in, breakfast, pool, etc but the rooms are missing basic things, like no place to open your suitcase, no lamp by the table to work on, no sitting area, there was an awkward armchair and an empty corner (as if missing a lamp or a couch or a small table), not enough hangers. no iron (they have one iron in the hotel, ridiculous), and to get one with steam is impossible. second time staying here and always have the same impression - super nice in the lobby but I always get annoyed when I go into the room they give me. Second time I stayed with a friend, they said 2 beds but it was one, no room to unpack 2 small suitcases, no sitting area for 2 people. weird layout. overpriced for what it offers
Just one night but room very clean and confortable. Has a very good breakfast with lot of food variety. People were very nice and warm and the location of the hotel is nice. Near the sea and beside the cliff.
The hotel has a great ambience, with dimmed lighting and art created from the old machinery of the sugar cane industry. Great variety of food on different themes every night in the Engnenho Restaurant. The Rock Room in the Spa is also a highlight. Excellent service and of course the sea and cliffs make a stroll magic too.
Very friendly, professional personnel. The room was fantastic: a room with a view and a very beautiful design (eye for detail). The beds were very comfortable. Everything is extremely clean. The food at the Alambique restaurant was delicious! Parking space available.
Very good amenities Excellent food choices at the restaurant Friendly staff Sparkling clean Very good wi fi Big room, very nicely decorated The rooftop is lovely with a lot of flowers and the infinity pool Definitely we recommend this hotel for outstanding experience
