Very nice small hotel situated in the pleasant village of Arkasa in the Greek Island of Karpathos. Five minutes walk from Agios Nikolaus beach. The hotel has a nice swimming- pool . Rooms are very clean and the hotel is well maintained. Breakfast is rich and has a verity of ingredients. The staff is helpful and Foteini -the owner is always there to assist. She is a sweet person.

OK so firstly, this was our 15th hotel in Greece in the last 12 years so we know and understand what to expect from a Greek hotel. However it was our first time to book a 4* hotel, instead of the usual 2* or 3* one. It was a mistake, because it was the worst hotel so far. Where did we see the problems? The breakfast. When preparing food in the pool hut one must question the hygiene standards. When seeing fresh fruit on the counter inside a white plastic bucket (like the one you buy your paint in) and the service lady taking it out with a hand and putting it on a plate then you get suspicions. So the breakfast was not self service, first time for me, but OK, not a problem. You get to choose eggs, greek yoghurt, plate of fruit, melted butter and an artificial jam. None of the above was edible, especially because everything was out of the refrigerator for a long time and when you have this sort of food outside at at least 25C in the morning for a couple of hours your risk of getting sick is quite high. We cancelled breakfast from the second day onward and it was said we'll get a refund, waiting for that. The room. The room was quite big; however, they could put some extra effort in cleaning it. The bins weren’t cleaned on the third day. We found animal excrements in the wardrobe, but couldn’t figure out from which animal. The floor was semi clean and so were the walls. Maybe this is not a big deal, but the way they made out the bed was a slight problem to us. The sheets were folded in a way so that you couldn’t figure out where your leg side was. Well they didn’t change the bedding in a whole week so I guess our legs were on the all sides. Also the toilet paper belong in the bathroom and it shouldn’t be left on the only night table in the room. The air-conditioning was directed directly to the bed so prepare for some headaches. The wi-fi was not working for the first 3 day, later it was working, but the connection was not that strong. The bathroom. Yes it was outdated and it could be cleaner also. First problem was that there was no shower gel and the hand soap was so much diluted that it didn’t even foamed. Have you ever seen a 4* hotel without a shower gel? When we bought one and we took shower, the foam began to come out of siphon and it was like that until the end. They tried to repair it, but in the end, they just said it’s normal and that they have same situation at home. The bathroom was slippery and we were cleaning it every night with a towel. After two days we saw that they will not change the towels on their own, so we threw them on the floor the get the new ones. They should be changed every two days in our opinion. I hope this review was helpful to you.

At first, in my opinion, Arkasa town is best place to stay on island either for lying on the beach or wandering around sland. Also vicinity of the airport is a good point. Truth is that location of hotel isn`t directly on the beach /cca 10 min walking/ but if you go to Karpathos you probably don`t rush for it because there is dozens to be explored in other corners of the island. Hotel was neat, with nice indoor area, maintained garden and calm that I appreciated the most. I mean no spanish disco thrusting from all around. Just decent beats from pool bar. Staff was was honestly friendly, not with that big false smile like in the most big hotels desk and bars.We were treated by them like a family. Food was delicious. Surprisingly at the breakfast no buffet, just orders but meal was made of fresh ingredients and really tasty. Smart way of not wasting the sources and giving even better services. Room, studio was spacious enough, clean , with ac and little balcony. Such a great stay.
