This is a real gem. The hotel is small, clean and ideally situated in the middle of the small town or Armamar. The owner, Bruno, is a delight. He likes telling stories about the local area and could not be more supportive of us travelers. His staff prepares homemade jams and desserts from his farm nearby. He also presents fresh fruit... My husband and I spent three nights at the Casa da Farmacia and I can't say enough good things about the experience. Everything was terrific - far exceeding all expectations! The room was lovely, the breakfast was fabulous (wonderful fresh figs and other fruits from the family farm!) but, best of all was Bruno, owner and manager of the hotel.... More

This place is simply awesome! Our room was cozy and comfortable, breakfast was the best we've had during our entire trip but what makes this place extraordinary is the hospitality of Bruno, the owner. We got to taste the wine and other products he makes. He told us a lot about the region and the local products of Douro Valley.... More

Lovely welcome and outstanding service from all the staff throughout our stay. Very spacious, comfortable room with a balcony facing the town. Relaxing public rooms and lovely breakfast room where we enjoyed a fabulous breakfast. Bruno, the owner, is a real star, suggesting some interesting excursions for us to take, all of them spot on. The only downside, and it's... More

In September 2015 we had pleasure to stay one night in Armamar. Luckily our friend made reservation in the hotel Casa da Farmacia. 12 people team arrived by bicycles from Pihao tied and wet because of driving last 10km just up. Representative of the hotel welcome us and in very polite and fast way send to the rooms, recommended and... More

Where do I begin.... This place met and surpassed any expectation I ever had or could have for the perfect holiday destination. The Casa is beautiful, we both felt like we were stepping into another world when we entered the cobbled courtyard with paper lanterns hanging from the trees. Our host, Bruno, was beyond accommodating and he made our visit... More

Had a wonderful time at Casa da Farmacia. The place itself is great, but where it excels is the way they treat their guests. Bruno is the perfect host and goes a long way to make sure you make the best of your stay. Great breakfast too!

We also booked here due to others' comments, and we were so glad we did. We were treated like family, and indeed we wish we were. When we arrived, we were told of several interesting places to visit before we headed to our next destinations right on the Douro over the next few days, and we also visited the Fonte... More

We stayed here for 1 night in May 2015. Our reservation was made few months ago for a twin room, based on the good reviews in Tripadvisor! On arrival, we realised that the room we were given was a tiny (hardly room to move or put more than 1 suitcase!), claustrophobic, dated (even the TV was small old type) double... More
