I was arriving at SJO in the afternoon and didn't want to have to drive at night so picked the B and B. As is turns out, my flight was 2 hours late arriving (mechanical) so I had to find the hotel in the dark which was not a problem. Its a lovely place, with beautiful grounds and very fresh air. I had one of the rooms by the pool which was lovely and very comfortable. The owner's dog became my friend. Smallish pool but I was able to do laps in the morning. Nice breakfast. Wifi worked great. Highly recommend for peace and quiet.
My boyfriend brought me here as a surprised. I had been very stressed. The bed and breakfast was beautiful. The owner and her dog are the sweetest. My boyfriend hired someone to give me a massage beside the pool. It was wonderful. The views were amazing. The room was clean, comfortable, and stylish. Our breakfast was amazing! It was a rejuvenating, peaceful, and relaxing experience. I will go back, for sure.
This charming b&b is not far from the airport but in nature, near the top of a hill overlooking the valley. The view from the pool is fantastic. Also the owner is super-friendly. A great introduction to Costa Rica.
We stayed here for a several times now and always had a great experience. Stunning views of the valley, fresh cool breeze, helpful, honest and welcoming staff, delicious breakfasts, tranquility and wonderful owner Vera, who is always trying that your stay will be comfortable and unforgettable. We will return soon!!!
We started and finished our family trip through Costa Rica at Vista Athenas. We liked it a lot. A beautiful location, fantastisch view, beautiful garden with kolibries and butterflies, nice and clean rooms, very nice owner and staff, we enjoyed the swimming pool and the wonderful breakfast to start the day with fresh fruits!
We stayed here 1 night en route from the coast to San Jose and wish it could have been more, and will certainly return. The peaceful quiet of this hillside B&B only 30 minutes from SJO airport is a welcome respite from the urban centers of the Vallle Central. Wonderful staff, very comfortable room, beautiful gardens and view, and just outside the clean and friendly small city of Atenas. We recommend con gusto!
I found this B&B on Trip Advisor and planned my agenda so I could spend the evening there. It ended up being one of the highlights of my trip to Costa Rica! Vera and Sedi were incredibly hospitable from the moment I arrived to our goodbyes in the morning as I drove away to visit Poas Volcano. The location high on a mountainside is amazing. My neighbors were very quiet, so I was able to enjoy the gorgeous sunset by myself overlooking the patio just outside my door. My room was sparkling clean and appeared to be recently refurbished with modern paint colors and a small but modern, clean bathroom. The bed and pillows were both very comfortable and the ceiling fan allowed me to regulate the temperature to my liking. I loved the huge glass windows on my wall and door that allowed me to enjoy the views even from my bed. Of course, this was all made even better by the stunning weather I had both in the evening and when I got up in the morning. Thanks, Vera and Sedi, for a lovely visit! I hope to bring my husband back for a visit.…
The view outside our room was even more breathtaking than pictures can do justice. The staff at the B&B were outstandingly helpful and always smiling. Anna was always nearby to help . The owner Vera helped us right from the start, arranging a taxi to pick us up from the airport when we inquired. Having no real plans upon arrival, her suggestions for things to do nearby were all wonderful including a coffee tour, a wildlife refuge & waterfall to explore. There is a nearby restaurant that was lovely for a lunch or dinner and just a short walk up to get to. Breakfast, made by William, was delicious including beautifully arranged local fresh fruit and fantastic coffee! The bed was a perfect firmness and the cooler evenings and bird songs lulled us to sleep every night. We will definitely return!…
Stayed here for 2 nights in December, using Atenas as transfer point between San Jose airport and Uvita. We got a ride here from the airport and enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing evening after our flight. We took a taxi into town for dinner where there are a number of good restaurants with a nice variety of food and styles. Then we spent the rest of the evening sitting by the pool and looking out over the valley lights. The beds were comfortable. The highlight was breakfast! An attractive presentation of fresh fruit, followed by eggs cooked to order with Costa Rican coffee. And guava jelly for the toast! I’m now addicted… Vera and her staff Sadie, William and Anna were all very friendly. William and Anna helped me with my (very limited) Spanish. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. The view is fantastic. Couldn’t ask for anything more. Will definitely be staying here again and would not hesitate to recommend. If you are new to driving in Costa Rica, I’d recommend getting a ride from the airport (I think Vera or Sadie can help you with that) and picking your car up later. It helps to be familiar with the drive to Vista Atenas, the entrance to the B&B is up the mountain, around a couple of sharp curves, and over a hump then down a steep driveway. My boyfriend was ready to have a heart attack as he thought we drove off a cliff! …
We enjoyed 2 wonderful weeks at Vista, surprising us every morning with the fantastic view one enjoys here daily. The room was bright, pretty with a very comfortable king size bed and pleasantly quiet during night time. Breakfast always started with fresh fruit and juice, and the hostess Vera greeted us, finding out, if everything was to our liking, could she help with our daily planning, restaurants, tours, etc. and that helped us tremendously. Vera and her team are definitely one of a kind, super friendly and helpful, making the experience unforgettable. In fact, we already booked our next stay for Nov. this year and look very much forward to it!
