We've visited Crete for the last four years and have always stayed at Idili Traditional House. It's perfectly situated in the middle of the island on the North coast. Markos is an amazing host. Nothing is too much trouble and with our limited Greek and his limited English, communication isn't a problem. Steph who helps at the House is English. We met her for the first time this year and she serves up a lovely breakfast! She's definitely my favorite as she thought I was 15 years younger than I am! :) The House is in a quiet street away from traffic so a good nights sleep is always had. Both the beach and plenty of cafes/restaurants are just a short walk away. Looking forward to going back in July 2020!
We arrived early in the morning about 6 o'clock and the owner Markos offered us Greek coffee, before we went to have a few hours sleep. We had a very nice breakfast in the lovely garden at 9:30, which Stephanie made for us. We had egg, bread, youghurt, Honey, fresh fruit, fresh pressed oranges, coffeee etc. for EUR7 per person. As it is a traditional stone house, you will find dark wooden furniture. The bed was on the "first floor" up some stairs. The bed was very comfortable. There was aircondition, however, since the bed was Upstairs it got a bit warm even though the aircondition was on. There was a lovely balcony, exactly as shown in the Photos and we loved just to sit there looking out over the garden or down to the sea. There was a sofa on which my husband took a nap and another sofa, where I could relax in the shadow with a book. We only had breakfast on the day we arrived, the other days we made breakfast ourselves and had it on hour balcony in the shadow. Markos is very friendly and he will do anything to help you. He kindly suggested sights to go to and during our stay he offered us coffee and beer. In the garden in the outdoor kitchen you could go and take a draght beer whenever you felt like it. Markos even served it on our terrace, thanks! Stephanie helps Markos with the cleaning of the rooms and they have decided to use eco/green or nature friendly soaps to clean with. Stephanie is English, so if there is anything you need or need to ask Markos and he is not there, you just speak with Stephanie. There are a lot of small tavernas in the small town. The roads are closed in the evenings and the restaurants have tables in the street. We tried almost all the restaurants and our favourite with the best food was Kastro - about 10 minutes from Idili. Very good value for the money, and the staff very attentive. We strongly recommend a stay at Idili if you want something authentic opposed to the hotels. You should be aware that the room Hyachint is the best room, which also has the seaview balcony. The second room has a nice balcony on the groundfloor in the garden, but no seaview and the third only a very small terrace on the street.…

Beautiful, traditional accommodation. The owner Markos and his Sister Maria are so very welcoming without being at all intrusive - wonderful, kind and generous hosts. I would definitely return. Very pretty peaceful private garden to sit in. A hop, skip and a jump to beaches, tavernas and supermarket in this quaint little village.
We loved our stay at Idili with our two small children. Location perfect down lovely quiet streets and close to all you need. Markos was very helpful and drove us to our next accomodation!n. I'd definitely stay here again!
