Detailed Review! Room Our room was nice, light and airy decor and a nice big shower. It was cleaned every day and we were always given clean towels when we wanted them. You need to leave the towels in the bathroom to get new ones. The bed frame was very squeaky at the smallest movements which woke us up in the first night, we just put the mattress on the floor which solved this. The air con was very good and we were given a bottle of wine and a mousse cake as it was our anniversary which was a nice touch. Hotel The hotel is very clean across the whole site, there’s a cat feeding station just outside the arcade/game room where there would always be two lovely ginger tom cats waiting. All the staff are very pleasant other than one girl who was serving crepes on the Saturday (24th sep 2022) who had a very bad attitude but we never complained. There is free Wi-Fi which was always consistently good across the whole hotel grounds. We would especially like to compliment Vagia at the lounge bar by reception who was always pleasant, Kassiani who waited on us in the evening in the lounge who was really friendly, making sure our drink order had been taken and her English is amazing and Stefanos who again was always pleasant and polite. Pools There are 4 pools, the garden pool on the southern side was nice and quiet most of the time, the salt water pool and the pool outside the Asian restaurant are generally quite busy, we never stayed by the main pool by the buffet but it always looked fairly busy. Luckily we never failed to find loungers but there was only 2 of us. You could borrow beach towels from next to the pools but we always brought out own. Guests We were surprised at how many children were about with it being term-time. There are no adult only areas so it was difficult for us to relax as there was always crying and screaming in the outdoor spaces, and we tried all of them. There was a mix of mostly English and German guests and everyone was quite polite. Food Food was always nice, the selection doesn’t change much day to day and could have been a tad bit warmer sometimes. The pizza was great and the beef/calf and pork was super soft and seasoned nicely. There was always a selection of cold meats and cheeses, salad, bread, and spreads. A form of chicken, pork and beef, rice, chips, mash (which was surprisingly good) and roasted vegetables. The traditional sausage at breakfast was our go to as it is delicious and the fried eggs always had a runny yolk! Other We rented a Nissan Micra from the man that sits up in the Tui room which only cost €110 for 2 days The shops on site are a little more expensive than the shops which are less than a 10 minute walk away in Panormo

There are very mixed reviews when it comes to this resort. From our experience, we will say it comes down to expectations and value for money. We had high expectations before we went because: (1) the hotel brands itself as 5 stars (2) the prices we paid were in line with 5 stars (3) the hotel website was very well done and suggested an upmarket resort that was very pristine and well maintained. As soon as arrived at the hotel lobby for our holiday, we couldn’t help but had a wave of disappointment. The lobby was dimly lit, looking dated and a bit run down. And the theme continued throughout the whole resort (except for a wing of rooms that were more recently added). You couldn’t help but feel the place really deserved an update and refresh. The bath tub in our room even had a serious number of scratches and proper dents. Other reasons this hotel was short of 5 stars: - Toiletries were limited. There was no supply of hair conditioner, and once the small bottles of shampoo and shower gel were finished, we were not given new ones despite a week's stay. We ended up buying our own supplies from local shops. - Cleaning was ok but very basic. Bed sheets stained by sunscreen remained stained for the week, sand brought back from beach also stayed. - The variety of restaurants was one of the reasons why we booked. However, actually we could only book ONE (yes, one) meal out of the whole week in an a la carte restaurant of choice. All but one meal for the week took place in the buffet restaurant for us. - All restaurants have exactly the same generic decorations. You don’t get a full dining out experience. - There were actually 3 kids clubs but two were tied in with specific tour groups from specific countries. Resources seem limited in the only club identified as international / English speaking and our child didn’t want to go there at all. Things great about the hotel: - The setting of the resort was stunning. It was on the cliff front and there was a panoramic sea view from many corners of the resort. - There were 3 different swimming pools and they were all well maintained. - It has its own private access to beach front. Though a relatively short beach, it was sandy and the water was calm. There was also a hotel refreshment station on the beach which was convenient. - The water park seemed fun enough, though we had only used it for a half day. - Food was fresh and good quality. Varieties were decent, though at lunch time the selection was much smaller. - Catering staff were very pleasant and helpful. - It has a good selection of sports activities – though nothing was listed on the guest portal or reception, we would have to check out the programs at the sports centre. So the conclusion was, it depends on what you expected and how much you paid. My observation was, by adding a young child (who consumed very little food and drinks on the all-inclusive basis) to the same room the adults occupied, we paid almost another full person’s fare in the packaged holiday. This makes this a relatively expensive option among the hotels in the area (some 5-star options waived the first child’s fares), and we felt that our expectations were not met accordingly.

Dear TheGlobetrotter100, First we would like to thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience here with us and for choosing our Resort for your most recent vacation. Allow us to start by noting that as a member GRECOTEL Hotels & Resorts, we always strive to provide with the best accommodation experience as well as create the best environment for relaxing and carefree time. We are indeed saddened by your feedback, as this is not the quality of service that the team of Marine Palace serves for 22 consecutive years now and we are truly sorry for not being able to live up to your expectations. Although, we wish that you had contacted our Reception team or our Guest Services department to raise your concerns and give us the opportunity to alter this impression that you created for our Resort and our team. On the other hand, we are thrilled to read your positive comments in regards with the location, the food quality and the service of our team in the restaurants. We can assure you that our aim at Marine Palace & Aqua Park, is to always exceed the expectations of all our guests and to create exceptional experiences. Clearly this was not the case for you and for this we are truly sorry. We would love the opportunity to have you stay with us again to demonstrate and highlight that not all of our accommodation is of the standard you experienced. If you would allow us to, I would like to personally take care of your next reservation and ensure you are well looked after, thereby restoring your faith in Marine Palace & Aqua Park. Kind regards, Georgios Kotsifis General Manager

In fairness to the hotel management they acknowledge this is a hotel for families, unfortunately for us the travel company did not sell the hotel in the same way. Had I read more reviews I probably would have avoided this hotel. It is very clean with a stunning entrance which gives the impression of a high-class hotel. This does not extend to the rooms which are in need of updating and are functional rather than welcoming. This restaurants are okay but have an issue serving hot food: the buffet food was warm unless you got something that was freshly cooked. This was the same in the three restaurants we experienced. And thereby lies another issue - you have to book restaurants in advance. In some ways it makes sense, however we quickly found that some restaurants were fully-booked for the period of our stay. Perhaps limiting how far in advance guests can book would overcome this. There are plenty of pool areas to sit around and one near the sea that does not have a pool. Sunbeds are plentiful but there is the usual issue of people reserving their beds with towels but not using them. There is a small beach which was very popular with families. Oh yes, children - there were lots of them. Don’t get me wrong, I have children and a grandchild, but I have never seen as many at a hotel. When going for our evening meal you could feel and hear them well before getting there. Unfortunately we had one day of poor weather which really highlighted the problem for us as no matter where we went we couldn’t escape them - it was just incredible seeing all these little people running around at full speed and at full volume. We ended up going back to our room just to escape the noise . An adults-only area, an adults restaurant and adults bar would be useful. I cannot fault the staff who were always polite and helpful. And the layout of the site is very clever being done in the style of a Cretian village. But if you are travelling without children, think carefully before booking.

PROS: Lobby nice View nice Beach nice (if you can ever get on it) Main bar and terrace nice. CONS We booked a 2 bed bungalow. We were on the SECOND floor, which with a 10 month old and a pram was an ordeal. The second ‘bedroom’ was just two single beds in the hallway. We pre ordered a number of items for the baby so that we didn’t need to travel with them, they were not in the room and never materialised after several requests. No Wi-Fi in bedrooms. Which, when the only way to contact reception is via WhatsApp is poor.

so, the bad. 1. Room 805 may have once had a sea view but your trees are now BIGGER. You may need to just keep it as a family room. 2. The German family disco (5 times a week) felt a bit awkward after a while for anyone not German. Not bad but sort of uncomfortable. 3. Sun Loungers, seem to have relationships with brown towels but rarely people until after 11. Sort of annoying to be stuck on grass for the whole week. 4. The door keys die a lot and this place is built on a hill, I actually did all my daily active minutes and steps walking too and from reception getting door keys refreshed every few hours, 5. Booking the themed restaurant’s only one choice available the week we stayed, The italian which was the same buffet as normal but on the side of the road with a full bottle of wine. What gets the stars up to 2. 1. Room cleaners are good. 2. Coffee machines in various places. 3. Decent view from the main reception bar. 4. Main buffet restaurant staff are good. For the price we paid it was OK. Would we return, absolutely not. If i hadn’t lost 7 hours of my holiday continually changing door keys this would have been 3 stars but it become such a pain.

We booked this hotel with our eyes open knowing it wasn’t an adults only hotel but my gosh I have never seen so many children in one hotel. It is insane. The noise volume in restaurant and bars when they are all running around screaming is mind blowing. If I had realised how many families there would be here would never have booked so I would warn any couples this is not the hotel for you. The food in the restaurants is ok but never very warm especially the buffet and when we ate at one restaurant they actually came to us just after 9.30 to say did we want anything else as they were going to close. If that is the case don’t offer 9.00pm bookings. The booking of restaurants is a joke and there is limited or no availability as they get booked up quick. There should be a limit on how far ahead you can book to make it fair. If you can’t get in a restaurant you have to go to main buffet with screaming children even at 9.00. The bar area is the same. The rooms are very tired and stark however they are very clean. If you get sunbeds away from pool then it is quieter but if you want to go in the pool you would be joining many babies and toddlers Would I stay here again - NO . As I have said I booked this knowing there could be children and have stayed in similar resorts before but the number here blown my mind. For this reason I can’t blame anyone though perhaps the tour companies could stress it is a family hotel and not suitable for couples. Take note anyone travelling without children this is not likely to be hotel for you.

Currently staying here with my husband and daughter as we always go abroad this time of year. The hotel is lovely although very big. After speaking with some other guests we agreed that the rooms are very dated. We were pleasantly surprised when we were upgraded to a suite from a bungalow room which we thought would be really lovely. Unfortunately this wasn't the case, the rooms are extremely dated. FYI class this hotel as a 4star. Personally I wouldn't class it a 4* at all based on the quality of the rooms which is a terrible shame. The queue for the main buffer last night was rediculous. Families still queuing for their meal at 8.30 is just not acceptable in my opinion. I think based on what we've experienced so far we wouldn't return to this hotel.

This was the first time of me holidaying abroad since I was wheelchair bound, I was a little bit worried about what I should feel like.i got to be honest it was brilliant, the staff couldn't do enough for me. The food was good ,but it could have been a tad warmer, if my wife could eat something every day it says a lot about the choice on offer. She is one of the most choosy about what she would eat.i had no problem about getting about, there was ramps everywhere. Only thing I could fault them on was the toaster,it is a bit slow.would I go back, definitely, their was close on forty of us there and it was a holiday to remember. Thank you grecotel for a holiday to remember.

Only book this resort if you love the sound of screaming children. There are no child free areas - even the deeper pool have lots of parents holding their infants making it impossible to swim. The aerobic and sports activities are good. Food isn’t that great either but the bar areas are really nice and the cocktails are good.
