Hotel Hacienda de Abajo is an enchanting, relaxing and wonderful place to stay in La Palma and a must when visiting the Canary Islands. You will discover unique antiquities and puedes of fine art in every corner of the hotels. The rooms have magnificent furnishings and all the details are perfectly curated. I absolutely love this hotel and it’s restaurant El Sitio awarded with a ☀️ Of Repsol, the Spanish equivalent of a ⭐️ Michelin. The perfect place to enjoy an unforgettable holiday. Highly recommendable!!!
We simply loved this place! Far from the tourist trail and the large holiday resorts on other islands. The hotel consists of several small buildings spread out in a beautiful tropical garden. It’s full of character and the main building is furnished with antiques. The garden is filled with flowers, palm trees, a frog pond, and an attractive pool. The rooms are all individually decorated, but are all beautiful with antiques and paintings. We stayed in a superior room which boasted a balcony. The rooms were spacious, with a large gorgeous bathroom with both a shower and a bathtub. The food was delicous throughout. We dined at the hotel every night in their beautiful dining room with view of the banana plantation and the ocean. The service was attentive and friendly, and the cleaning immaculate. This is an adult only place, which in our opinion added to the serene ambiance of the place. We highly recommend this hotel as an experience in itself, and we hope to return!…
Great atmosphere, great location, great food and great service, but… Glasses are dishwashed, not a problem, but when it forms dried up droplets in the glasses it is, especially when the sunset comes through the windows ánd the prearranged glasses on the tables. As said, great food, but with one thing the chef completly missed it, a grilled fish, with fried smoked paprika and dark fried garlic, oh so bitter and the taste was more that of chorizo than of fish, wonder why, because the rest was prepared beautifully. But the worst is, after not eating and telling the waitress, it still ended up on the bill, 3 stars for that.
We had an amazing seven day stay here. Staff were absolutely amazing. So very friendly. The room was immaculate. The art work was bar none. We are returning to La Palma every April in the future and plan on staying here for one week before staying in a house for one month. The restaurant in the hotel serves the best banana soup. There are other restaurants nearby as well as easy access to two beaches. We met the owner at a “test” pool party. He was very nice and welcoming. The new GM, Barbara, is an amazing woman who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Apparently it is an oddity to have Americans on La Palma. We received quite a bit of attention, which was not uncomfortable. I can’t recommend the hacienda enough. (Peter-you are amazing! See you next April!)
To my wife and I this piece of even has become our second home. The feeling among the unique art, the wonderful service, and the most tasty meals from breakfast to dinner; makes this palace a place you wish it was yours, and you feel like it is. Time just loses its ending, and every day becomes full of joy. The island is also just beautiful, with unbelievable sunsets, and a sky filled with stars. It is so peaceful and silent that you can forget about everything; with a freedom not found anywhere any more. You just turn off as soon as you walk throw the door, up to the time you leave just wishing to have more free time to enjoy it in the future.
This is a restaurant review…. My first visit to this restaurant,as it had been recommended by my parents who live locally. Amazing service, fabulous food of a very high standard. Each course was given with an explanation of the ingredients and their origins. Our server was very knowledgeable on the menu and had good customer service skills and a great sense of humour. This restaurant is in a hotel full of antiques , so should please all antique lovers and foodies alike. Highly recommended!
We have been staying at the Hacienda de Abajo for five nights in the middle of June. It is indeed a very pleasant place to stay, with very welcoming and helpful staff. Online you can see the nice pictures of the hotel of course, but you really have to stay there to fully experience how well everything works. By far the best part of the hotel is the excellent restaurant. We have only used it for breakfast and dinner, in the daytime we went hiking in the mountains. Breakfast has a limited variety on the buffet, but everything available is of excellent quality. Beside the buffet there is also a menu with small dishes like toasts and omelets that you can order. At night there is a wide variety of inventive and beautifully finished dishes with fresh local products. We found this hotel an excellent choice for our holiday. Although our main aim was mountain hiking and walking all day, we also like to get nice food and a comfortable room to be ready for the challenges of the next day. Tazacorte is also a nice little town to stay at, it is literally only a few minutes walking away.…
What a most wonderful place to be than where covid is not spoken about! who cares about Palma De Majorca or Tenerife... La Palma is the place to be! But don't tell everyone... This hotel is very private and only for those that respect nature and art. Its collection goes from the 16th century Europe, to Asia and the American Colonies; and so does its tropical garden all around. So no children allowed and no noise but the birds. The restaurant is just as especial with a mix of the island fresh flavors with a gourmet spice. The service couldn't be more private and they are lovely people. To me is the best place to forget about everything. And if you do feel like socializing they have beautiful events and concerts than don't make you miss any city of Europe. A Pearl in the Atlantic ;)…
This is what a hotel should be. A hotel with charm, beauty, luxury and pure indulgence. The attention to deal is extraordinary. No identikit rooms but individually curated rooms by the owner bursting with antiques and paintings. I am not sure many people are aware of how special some of the antiques and paintings are. The pool and spa area are perfect for passing the day. To top it all off the restaurant is sensational - make sure you try the local red wine from the family estate. A rare feat - 5 stars ⭐️
We have visited for the second time and would love to be back soon. We really enjoy spending time at the hotel and the food at the restaurant. The service is very good, the heated pool is great at this time of the year and the hotel is just gorgeous with many exotic plants and valuable antiques all arround. It is a hotel with a lot of personality and the location in the village of Tazacorte is excellent , always the best sunny climate in the entire island. Absolutely recommend to stay here.
