I’m extremely sad to say that although the hotel is amazing and I cannot fault the pool bar staff, the cleaners and the animation team who have gone above and beyond to make us feel welcome as guests here on our holiday… the experience myself and my two friends have had whilst dining in the main restaurant at breakfast and dinner has been nothing but appalling due to the staff. I cannot think of any reason why we have been singled out from all the other guests apart from how my friend is medically exempt from wearing a face mask and that we are the only people of colour, I’m extremely embarrassed at how unprofessional this has been handled infront of all the other guests and every single day we are made to feel so uncomfortable. It’s clear we have been discriminated against and unfortunately I wouldn’t advise anyone of colour to visit this hotel.

This review could have been amazing however my dining experience has been terrible and left me with no choice but to write a bad review. Dining at this hotel has made me feel too uncomfortable to sit down and enjoy my meal. Instead of being asked nicely to wear a mask in the buffet area I was shouted at and intimidated by the staff who think it is acceptable to shout and argue with a guest. Since this incident the staff has continued to gossip, laugh and treat us differently to the other guest at the hotel. The manager has done nothing about it and clearly thinks it’s acceptable for his staff to speak to guests that way. I am so disappointed and let down that I have spent nearly a thousand pounds to feel intimidated and uncomfortable all holiday. I do want to say thank you to the animation team, bar staff and cleaners, they have been amazing and made us feel so comfortable and welcomed us with open arms!

Extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with the dining experience. From day 1 myself my daughter and friend have been singled out and treated in a way that is unacceptable. We are one of very few English groups staying in the hotel and currently the only people of colour. On a daily basis, both breakfast and dinner we are pointed at, stared at, laughed at and made to feel uncomfortable by the staff including the managers. I have witnessed staff talking to other guests, looking at us and laughing. This could very well be a racist issue and I’m sad to say my experience so far has been unsatisfactory. The dining experience of a holiday is supposed to be special and we have had nothing but distress and embarrassment caused by restaurant staff to the point that we no longer want to use the services we have already paid for due to intimidation and bullying behaviour. I’d like to show my appreciation to the pool bar staff, cleaners and animation team who have treated us as an equal and made us feel as welcome as we should be made to feel. My complaint extends to the restaurant staff only and my hope for the future is that this issue is dealt with at a higher level, I’ve travelled world wide at many 5 star resorts and have never been treated so appallingly. The holiday is only half way through and we would be happier leaving than staying due to the constant abuse and intimidation.

We had an amazing experience during our first vacation as a family with our newborn. Everyone was very kind, helpful and professional from the time we checked-in until the time we checked-out. The hygiene measures due to COVID were very well adopted by everyone in the hotel and we felt very safe both in our room as well as in all common areas. Our room was thoroughly cleaned every day. It was quiet, bright and comfortable. We were provided with a travel cot and cot sheets for our baby. The staff in the reception was very responsive to our needs. Every area in the hotel was neat and clean, and the staff took care of every day maintenance works in a very discreet manner. Among many other facilities, the hotel has four pool areas, two big restaurants, one tavern on the seaside and one burger house. A new high-scale fine dinning restaurant & wine bar was about to open in the resort which, unfortunately, we missed one day before our departure. The food variety and quality in all food areas was unexpectedly exceptional. I also had a very nice and relaxing massage experience in the spa of the resort. The beach in front of the resort is very beautiful with crystal clear waters. Water sports are also available. Every evening several events take place in the resort for children and adults. It is also very nice to take a walk along the beach and watch the sunset in the evening. Overall, the resort is a very good choice for families which would like to have restful vacation without worrying about looking for places to visit, activities and food. We are looking forward to visit again!

1. General Facilities & Services I will start my review in a very positive manner. Generally, everything considered, the hotel offers a very nice vacation experience for both families and couples. Overall, the personnel is very friendly and very accommodating whenever possible (this depends on various circumstances) and their main goal is to have satisfied guests who will enjoy their vacation. This is indeed very much appreciated. There are small issues that could be further improved of course but nothing too serious. I will try to focus my review on multiple categories below. a. Breakfast / dining area & Food quality The buffet for breakfast and dinner is located in the main building next to the main pool area and offers exceptional views especially at dinner time during sunset. The food choice is really various and, in my opinion, offers high quality food both for breakfast and dinner. Of course, certain dishes recur some days but that is the case in all hotels. Important to note is that the food is always fresh, mostly well prepared and served in an appealing way in the restaurant. Sometimes, some of the food dries under the heat in order to stay warm and this is a potential problem for some type of meat, fries etc. For breakfast, there is huge choice of cereals, milk types, croissants, pancakes, different serving of eggs, sausages, toasts, fresh salads, yoghourts and many local greek specialties. For the people with a sweet tooth, there are always fresh fruits in the morning and many sweet pastries (also local) which are well diverse. Beverages included in the breakfast are: juices (not fresh), water, black filter coffee and sometimes fresh smoothies. Additional drinks and types of coffees are available with pay which I find surprising in this kind of Resort category. At least local drinks and local coffees like Frappe should be included. For dinner, the food is very much different than for the breakfast in the morning as expected. I find the quality of the food on a high level and well prepared and presented in the buffet. There are various types of meat dishes, various local dishes and pastries, many different types of salads, cheeses, fresh vegetables, cooked vegetables, pasta, fish, fries and probably few more things that I forgot to mention. The desert buffet has great deserts and many different types of them. 30%-40% of the food is changed daily although some people might find it repetitive. To be absolutely objective with this point, I cannot imagine that people eat so different food at home every day, so any complaints based on this I consider absolutely irrelevant. The whole restaurant personal tries very hard to keep all food fresh and to replace it almost immediately when something runs out. The only time when the food is not replaced is if you come very late to breakfast and dinner at almost closing times. No drinks are included for dinner, so whatever you order from the menu, you will be charged extra for that. Not even water was provided by the hotel although the normal water is not drinkable typically in Greece. And water more or less is the most basic beverage. Other local drinks or wines were quite good and always server properly. The dining area I find to be too small when many people try to get food from the buffet. There were many chaotic scenarios with children and adults just holding the line or people jumping between other people trying to take something from the buffet. This is no fault of the hotel, but general behavior problem of some people. However, I think the buffet concept could be improved to allow more moving space and smarter way to get food. COVID-19 Measures: The current buffet concept is probably due to all the covid-19 measures which more or less were on an extremely high level in the hotel and restaurant in general. For the buffet, people had to wear face masks and gloves and, in most cases, this was observed by the personnel. On every table and on multiple stations around the buffet there were disinfection bottles which guests were encouraged to use. There were cases were people behaved ignorant and did not wear gloves and masks and in occasions when few restaurant managers were standing there and just observing the dynamics, they did not approach these people to instruct them to abide by the protection guidelines. So, these situations were mostly ignored and that I think should not be the case. On a fair note, the restaurant staff was extremely nice and extremely busy all the time bringing drinks, cleaning tables as fast as possible and welcoming new dinner gusts. That was very nice. Huge thank you to all the restaurant staff that did their very best to keep all gusts happy with everything. For German gusts, some of them spoke German and they could manage all the orders in German language. b. Bars The hotel has several bars throughout the premises. Everything you will order there is with extra charge as this is not an all-inclusive hotel. Staff was extremely nice and the quality of the drinks was absolutely fine. Some of the cocktails are presented in a unique way and they are not extremely overpriced, maybe just a bit higher price than normal. There was a bar around every pool area and also directly at the beach if you would like to get refreshments during a sunny day at the beach. c. Pool area The Pool area, as everything on the Hotel premises is very well maintained and it looks very nice, especially in pictures and selfies. The pools were clean and the water was with adequate temperature. The only problem with the pool area in general is that there were not enough sun beds and too many guests reserve the sun beds with towels in the morning. The towel problem is general in all hotels in the world. At the moment, the limitation of sun beds number is due to COVID-19 and because of the distancing recommendation so the hotel management was quite strict about that, as they should be during a pandemic. All in all, probably during a normal season, there are much more sun beds available, because there is a lot of free space for sure to accommodate that. All in all, the hotel has 4 pool areas with bars and sun beds and tables in the shade so this really is nice if you are a pool person and you enjoy that. All is clean and perfectly maintained. i. Towels Towels are not provided for free at this hotel and they are available for 4€ each. 3 times per week the towels can be replaced Mon-Wed-Fri. I don‘t personally understand why towels are not included in the price even though it might be for hygienic reasons. This is something that could be improved in the future. d. SPA & Gym This hotel has a SPA area which includes a gym as well. The prices for SPA services (treatments, massages etc.) seemed reasonable and the staff working in the SPA was also very friendly. They would explain any questions you might have and even help you if you would like to find specific treatments for yourself, partner or your family. The gym is well equipped for a hotel, the only concern is that if the hotel is full, then the gym is too small for all guests. Maybe a bigger gym or a second gym would make more sense for a full hotel. Just as a reference, this hotel has 350+ Rooms which means if it is full there would be at least 700-900 people (incl. families). If only 10% of the guests use the gym it is already 70 people and the GYM cannot manage that capacity. What I could observe during this vacation is that there were always people in the gym using it and only 8 people were allowed there at the same time due to covid restrictions. e. Reception - Check in / Check out & questions during your stay Simply put, the check-in experience is pleasant and nice. The staff is very welcoming, they speak both English and German (some speak german) and they will explain everything you need to know in the beginning, incl. COVID-19 protocols, buildings, premises, restaurants etc. The regular check-in time was at 15:00, but for many arriving guests I have observed that they could get into their rooms much earlier, so that is very nice if the room is ready. The staff would not let you wait just because check-in is at 15:00. Once you arrive, you are transported with a buggy to your room with all your luggage. Additional charge that should be considered is the safe-deposit box in your room. This is not included in the price and costs 3€ per day. We paid this, but in general this hotel is very safe and I don’t think something would be stolen from your room. So, this might not even be necessary to be used. Check-out is at 11:00. Late check-out is possible with charge of 35€. Many hotels implement this tactic, but many hotels also let you check-out for free if the room is available. There are different reasons for this, and it is based on different management of the hotel. In this particular case, the hotel was, at maximum, 50% full and there were enough rooms to offer a free check-out as an extra perk during your stay. So, my feelings here are mixed, as I totally understand both perspectives of this problem. Due to so many restrictions and decreased number of guests, the hotel must also earn enough money for the ongoing operational expenses therefore don’t be quick to judge. The staff is more than happy to clarify any questions that you might have and they approach problem-solving in a very professional way. If they can do something and help you out, they will most definitely do that. Sometimes they have restrictions from management what and if they can offer something for free. 2. Hotel premises Absolutely amazing. The garden and the overall premises is just astonishing and beautiful. Extremely well-maintained trees, grass, walking paths, pool and bar areas, bathrooms etc. Everything is extremely clean all the time. There are many disinfection stations inside and outside of the hotel buildings. There are showers around every pool, trash bins etc. This is probably one of the most amazing gardens that I have seen in a vacation hotel. 3. Room The room was spacious, well maintained and modern. The beds were comfortable, there was enough storage space for clothes and an extra sofa with a club table. On all windows mosquito nets were installed so you can sleep comfortable at nights with open balcony doors. The AC in the room worked well. Sometimes there was bad smell from the sewage in the bathroom that seemed to disappear by itself. There is a safe deposit box in the room but costs 3€ per day. I consider this hotel and the area safe enough, so choose wisely if you need to pay for this – I did it anyway. To this next experience is not only about the room – in the Resort premises in in our room, as well as in rooms of other people that I could talk to, there are ants. I am not sure if it is due to the terrain, the climate or just the island, but there are ants. They will not kill, probably they will not harm you, but it is not very appealing to see ants in your room and outside the room all the time! I reported these few times to the reception and they said with complete calmness that they will spray and do not worry. As this happened continuously, I can only conclude that it is not my job to report this during my stay, but it is the duty of the hotel to ensure this does not happen! Or even if it happens, the guests should not even be aware of this problem if managed properly. However, as I said, nobody will die by some ants. Had to ask for about to days to get replacement for shampoos and body wash and at the end the cleaning staff left an abundant amount of both 😊. Very funny to see the bathroom full of shampoo, but the request was fulfilled 😊. The room was cleaned perfectly every day! No water is provided for the guests, and I have failed to understand this in Greece. Water is not drinkable, and water is cheap, but the basic human right about access to clean drinkable water is not maintained. In hotels where there is no filtration system for water, they should provide enough water for the day. Anyway, was not a deal breaker but something to be improved as a “convenience”. 4. Beach area Great beach, very accessible with direct access to a bar/restaurant and toilets. Restaurant had normal prices, the quality was good and the staff was very friendly. The toilets throughout the resort were impeccably clean and maintained. The problem! You have to pay 6€ per day for 2 sunbeds and an umbrella! It does not seem much but it is a problem when you book a Beach Resort hotel directly at the sea! The explanation was that the hotel does not own the beach but rents it from the State. Ok, so are all the other beaches throughout Greece and in all previous Resorts I have been I never paid for a sunbed at the beach. This is something that should be provided as “facility” when booking this sort of “luxury” vacation! The other explanation that did not made sense at all was that the sunbeds in the Pool area are free and those could be used…??? Oookay… Not relevant at all as a explanation but we received It nonetheless. In all other beaches throughout the island in the beach clubs and restaurants the sunbeds and the umbrella were free if you ordered something like a coffee (2€ for a frappe). Other Resort hotels also had free sunbeds at the beach! So long story short, this is an inconvenience and the logical conclusion is that the hotel wants to provide the basic accommodation facilities for its clients, probably keeping the price acceptable per night per person, and everything else to be paid additionally. Very close to the beach there was a surfing school/club where you could take lessons and learn an extra skill on your vacation 😊. Feel free to explore other beaches and small villages on this island, you will be pleasantly surprised. 5. Personnel The personnel were great, polite and friendly. At reception English and German is spoken, not by all people though. If you have a problem, they will solve it for sure 6. Parking Parking provided in front of the hotel, for free. There was always a security guard so it is safe. 7. 3rd party services – Rent a Car This was something that was amazing. There was a Rent a Car service provided by a 3rd party company in the hotel – KOSMOS if I remember right, but the prices were insane. Toyota Aigo 75€ per day!!! 20% discount was possible, but it was still too much! I am a person that uses rent a car for business travels and I travel a lot for business. These prices were a rip-off. The service was not even friendly even if you decided to rent a car from there. Alternatively, I found a great rent a car place in Mastihari, 5 minutes’ drive from the hotel, west-bound. There is a bus you can take in that direction or a taxi for 8€. So, in this small town there are few tourist agencies. The one that I visited and I can recommend is HELIOS TRAVEL & CAR RENTAL. The people working there were extremely nice, spoke German and English, and they had fair prices for Car rental. The same Toyota Aigo that was offered do me at the hotel for obscene 300€ (240€ with 20% discount), I got it here for 85€ (regular price was 35€ per day, 100€ for 3 days. As I said, the owner was very nice and friendly, and as I needed the car for 4 days only, that fitted excellent in their schedule so they even offered us the car for 85€ for 3 days and 1 day for free. Really appreciate that. So don’t be afraid to explore the local businesses and don’t leave all your money at the 3rd party hotel vendors.
