Our family visited Crete in September. Since it was our first family vacation with one year old son we had some concerns to choose the right place. We searched for a smaller baby friendly hotel in a quiet neighbourhood. After a short while of stay we agreed Xidas Hotel is just perfect place for us and our little boy.

The atmosphere of this family hotel is extremely hospitable and friendly. Interior and exterior of the hotel is neat, spacious and well accessible. Our room was kept clean with fresh towels every day. The smiley, communicative and pleased staff did our stay even much enjoyable although our baby gave them a hard time specially in the restaurant :) Water temperature at the pool could be a bit higher. We didn't use it much but if, our son couldn't stay in for a very long. Both baby and adult pools have the same water temperature which is well refreshing for adults but too cold for babies.

The food was mostly what we are used to at home. Lot's of fresh vegetables, fruits, local cheeses, yogurt and everyday choice of meat, fish or seafood. People who expect tons and variety of foods at the buffet might get disappointed. We didn't feel guilty for binge eating at least :)

The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the sand beach with the umbrellas and sun beds to rent for about 7 Euros a day. They will be offered for free if you ordered some foods or drinks at the restaurants nearby. Don't expect the area around the umbrellas to be extra clean. It took us a few minutes to clean it up before we dropped our stuff. The sea water is pure clear and great for swimming or just playing around.

To sum up, we were more than happy to have our first family vacation in Crete with the hospitality of Hotel Xidas Garden. It was the trip which will be remembered as enjoyable, relaxing and safe. The hotel is right choice for the older travellers as well as young families. Crete also provides historical and natural wonders reachable by a car from a local rental.
We can highly recommend it as we often like to bring this nice memories back.

The hotel is stationed slightly on a hill. All employees are very friendly, they take care of the guests' comfort. The hotel itself is very quiet at night. Our room faced the pool where there is also a bar, but there were no problems with noise. The windows and door to the balcony are very well soundproofed and when you close the door, you can't hear anything from the outside. There is also very good sound insulation in the rooms. The air conditioner in the room worked normally, we had it on all night. The rooms are cleaned every day, the floors are washed, towels are changed every 2 or 3 days. The beds are quite comfortable, otherwise a little harder.
The food was very good and healthy. Nothing fried. The only sin was the baked fries :D. There was a lot of choice for vegetarians too.
The only awkward thing for us was that you can't throw toilet paper into the bowl but into the bin. But it's probably like that all over the country. It was also very difficult for us to get used to the fact that the staff carried plates from the tables very quickly. And they have too small cups for coffee :)
In any case, I would still come to Xidas Hotel. Very nice!

Very nice small family hotel with really great staff. The hotel area is more fragmented but has always been perfectly maintained. The rooms were spacious, air-conditioned and beautifully cleaned. There is a swimming pool at the hotel, which was always clean, only in the high season there was a bit of a fight for sunbeds. Working bar cca from 11:00 to 23:00 with a great selection and even better service. In the evening, you can sit here very well. The distance from the hotel to the two sandy beaches is approx. 250m up a steep hill. There is no great noise around the hotel at night.

As for the food, all meals were served buffet style and the selection of meals was good by the standards of a three-star hotel of this capacity. Some might have reservations about the number of dishes, but I personally had no problem always choosing. A possible minor disadvantage may be that during a longer stay, the main dishes and their composition will become slightly repetitive, or if you arrive for dinner later, some of the favorite desserts may no longer be available.

As suggestions for improvement, for example, I would welcome more leisure activities directly in the hotel, such as ping pong, petanque, etc., but it's about preferences and I don't take it as a negative.

I can only warmly recommend the hotel without any complaints. We enjoyed a very nice holiday here!

Awesome family driven hotel. It's not a big Hotel but that's part of the charm. The fact that the hotel is full of regulars says it all.

We've already booked our third trip now and we just love it! The stuff is welcoming and amazing. You just feel like you're part of the family after the first day.

It's nice and quite but everything is within walking distance. I could not ask for any more.

The food selection is small but includes everything you need. A vegetarian alternative is always available. The desert buffet is always full and changes every day.

This hotel was the best hotel I had ever been in my life. The room was clean and bright, they were changing my sheets and the service was excellent. The food was Cretan traditional cuisine and very tasty. The pool bar had many options too. Very quite place, it is perfect for someone who wants to relax. Highly recommended

Small, friendly and well maintained hotel. Our Room had plenty of room and the fridge was handy. The shower was amazing! The hotel generally was spotlessly clean. Staff are friendly and helpful. Food is very tasty and plentiful. Had a wonderful weeks stay.

We spent a magnificent week in Xidas Garden this year (2012). It was the last week of the season, so our experience may have been slightly different from others.
There was nothing we could actually complain about. Of course it is not a 4 or 5 star hotel, but the food and bar drinks (we had all inclusive) were better than expected. Only I would appreciate more various fruits and vegetables, but it may be different during season when there are more than 20 people in the whole hotel.
Swimming pool perfect, rooms just enough large and equipped, modern, clean. Only the toilet curtains have been discussed several times, quite weird and could be improved.
The hotel is more distant from the sea, I do not consider it a disadvantage, but it depends. The Bali resort is very calm, especially at the end of season

We stayed at this hotel for 10 nights in June. We chose Bali as it was centrally located on the island. Before booking the holiday the only reviews I could find on the hotel were in either Czech, German or Russian. The reviews seemed good so I decided to book, and overall I was very pleased.

We booked a standard room, which was below the swimming pool. The room was basic, but large and clean. It was cleaned every day apart from Sunday, but we only had our towells changed 3 times during our stay. The shower was good, but whatever you did you couldn't avoid getting the bathroom floor very wet. We only had 2 breakfasts at the Hotel, which were continental, and were ok. We did not have any evening meals, because we both feel one of the best things about going to Greece is eating at different tavernas and meeting different friendly Greek people. Some guests seemed to just stay by the pool and at the Hotel all day and night. I could never do that.

The hotel has a good sized swimming pool, has a little internet room and a bar by the pool. We can't comment on the evening food as we didn't eat it, but it always smelt nice! Overall the Hotel is of good Greek standard and is reasonable priced. The owner Costas is very friendly and helpful, and his Swiss partner is also helpful. The Hotel is stayed in by people from all over Europe. To me this is not a problem. When we stayed there were lots of Germans, but they were fine! I didn't notice if they put towells out the night before!

Bali is an excellent quiet resort. Nightlife is low key. It has 3 or 4 public beaches which are all of good quality. One or two of them have the Greek Blue flag. The food is good, and great value. My most expensice main course was £7. I enjoyed my 10 days in Crete, but due to the size of the island wish I had 20. I would definitely recommend Xidas Gardens as it is a good Hotel in an excellent quiet resort. I hope this review has been helpful. At last there is now a review in English!

They are about 100 euro , but we do recommend you to use a transfer service which is much cheaper. You can give a look on hoppa resort transfer services.
