The hotel is located very conveniently close to the Varkotopos beach; the most expensive rooms with private pools are in fact located directly above the beach. The beach is small and not breathtakingly beautiful, but clean and more than ok if you want to spend a few hours enjoying the waves. For those who don't want to pay 9€ for a set of loungers, there's also a small area without loungers in the easternmost corner of the beach where you can stay for free. The sand is quite fine and a little darker than expected. During our stay, the inflatable waterslide monstrosity was luckily already gone, which meant we had much more space and an overall relaxing experience at the beach. Two other beaches, Livadi and Old Port, are a 10-15 minute walk away. Whether you're looking for souvenirs or food & drinks, there are numerous shopping and dining options in the immediate vicinity of the hotel and beach . Our junior suite with a garden view and shared pool was probably the second best type of room we could get. It was spacious, modern, clean and completely private because of the tall banana tree in front of it. It could use some minor maintenance (broken button on the bidet shower, leakage around the bathroom window, stain on the chair cushion by the pool), but overall it left a very good impression. Despite no wardrobe, there was enough storage space for our belongings on the shelves, rail and in two drawers. The shared pool was very refreshing and we didn't feel the need to use the main hotel pool at all. Not only did we get a lot of towels, but also bathrobes, slippers and coffee. Tea was unfortunately missing. There was a mini fridge, kettle, hairdryer, phone, TV and of course A/C in the room. The wifi signal was reliable. Bedding & towels were replaced once throughout our one-week stay. The toiletries, however, weren't refilled at all and we ended up using our own. The shower was a little extravagant and I would not like to have a similar setup at home, but on a holiday it's part of the experience. The water pressure was excellent. The food in our half board was varied thoughout the stay and always delicious. It included standard "international" options like steak or pasta, as well as local delicacies - stuffed vegetables, excellent stews, fish, lots of typical herbs etc. Gluten-free and lactose-free options were available too, although not as abundant. The only downside is that guests have to pay extra for any drinks at dinner. The staff are absolute stars - very friendly and accommodating, most of them spoke solid English. Whenever we needed help or advice, they were there for us. When we missed dinner because we were on a long trip, we just called the hotel and they brought us cold platters to our room when we arrived. All in all, we had a great time at the Bali Star Resort Hotel ***. If they focused on details such as providing tea in addition to coffee, refilling the toiletries and including at least basic drinks with dinner, I think they might even deserve four stars. If we come again, we would like to try using the in-house spa - it looked very tempting.

The moment I walked in the door, having traveled for the day and delayed flights, I was asked for tourism tax and short changed. Only 3e but still its the principle. We were then shown our room that faced a wall. The electrics in that room tripped that first night. I asked to be moved the next day, the woman behind the reception offered me rooms for exfra money. I ended up paying 70e extra in cash. Second room. TV has no power supply in room and switches itself on, as does air con. So ones jumps awake. Broken card electrics and sink plug stuck. The pictures would have you believe you will be right on the beach, not true, although close. The 2nd restraunt does is not included in the meals, so you actually have to eat in what feels like a clinical hospital Cafe. The Food is good. There is some smiley guy that works 24/7, which understandably gets these good reviews. If I'd payed 441pp and the listings honest about facilities and location then all of this could have been dismisable but having payed a premium, it is a huge let down.

Great room, steps from the beach and restaurants/cafes. Bath towels in the bathroom and included breakfast was great. The staff also extremely helpful and kind. Their restaurant, Mambo, was also great and had an exquisite beach view.

This hotel is beautiful. Greatly located by the see, they have friendly professional service and a modern designed property. Stuff has great hospitality and food is delicious. They have breakfast and dinner included in the reservation price. I would definitely come here again and recommend this hotel to my friends. The beach is also great and well organized but the water is still cold in the beginning of May.

The resort is kept very neat and tidy, clean pools and the resort as a whole is kept to a very good standard. The staff, the general manager, possibly owners were very approachable, helpful and very friendly. The food was really good, with plenty of variety for all nationalities and kids. The deserts were may be a little lacking and could do with more options especially for children. Initially we booked a shared private pool and side sea view room which faced the road, and for me it was too noisy at night as I'm a very light sleeper. I had seen reviews about the noise from the bar/restaurant opposite but the music was always kept at an acceptable level. For me the noise was from the cars/motorbikes of the young locals going up a rather steep hill.. we asked to change rooms to a private/shared pool room with a garden view and to be honest I would say that is the better side as you get more of the afternoon/evening sun and was great to sit on the balcony while the little one slept. We needed to make extra cushions for the outside furniture and honestly the deck chairs are terrible to sit on and could really do with better ones to make the most of the balcony areas. The beaches close by are great, never too busy except Sundays when all the locals are off work too. All in all we were very happy and would happily stay again for sure. This resort and destination was probably the best part of our 6 week trip in Europe 😁

Beautiful hotel, modern, good location, room with private swimming pool, double shower ,spaceful, nice furniture, sea view on Varkotopos beach...great! All u need is near this hotel, a lot of restaurants , Bali travel which organize for u visits in the surroundings and far away in Creta, like Elafinossi beach, Chania...supermarkets, bus stop , rent car. U know what, if u don't believe me, book a stay in this hotel and write a comment ...it's worth! Enjoy!

Modern hotel, clean and reasonably priced. We stayed in room 402 which is the closest to the beach and Mambo beach bar. There is a lounge as you enter with two single beds for the kids and a large flat screen TV, fridge, toilet and shower. There is a sliding glass door separating the master bedroom and then a terrace with steps into the plunge pool which runs in front of the room and adjoining rooms. The master bedroom has a TV and kettle. The pool is surprisingly large and very pleasant at the end of the day and there was space to store inflatables . It was a two minute walk across a very quiet road and onto the beach. I booked direct and got a 12% discount and free airport transfer n a luxury Mercedes minibus just by entering my email to join their membership program. The same minibus was €80 on the return. There are four nearby tavernas, one showing Premiership football and with pool tables and air hockey. Over the small hill there is another part of the resort which has more restaurants and bars with its own bigger beach and motorised water sports. Breakfast was very good.

This was our first time in Greece. We travelled with our 2 kids(6) and a 10months the old baby. We arrived at the hotel at 9:30 in the morning. The staff was very nice and invited us to have breakfast and in the meantime our room will be ready to check in. We requested a baby crib and they had it ready for us. The whole experience was nice. Staff is lovely, caring, smiling all the time. They would talk to our kids every morning. The drinks and ice cream were wonderful. The pool very well maintained. Food lots of selections and variety every night. Mambo restaurant was nice, with attentive staff as well. Our trip was wonderful at this hotel. The beach near by was a bit too small and crowded but we enjoyed it anyway. Thank you all and hope to be back one day!

Booked through Love Holidays, recommend the hoppa.com private transfer excellent value, Mercedes mini bus each way, offered free water for journey, it’s a 50 min transfer from Heraklion. Stayed half board definitely pay extra for the junior or one bed suit with sharing pool, you won’t regret. Garden are south facing and evening sun. Sea view only 3/8 actually have full sea view - rooms 401, 402 & 403. You pay 7 euros for two sun beds plus umbrella on the beach, those at hotel garden or by pool are free. Mambo Beach Bar renovated June 2022, modern, cracking view and lovely staff, has ice cream bar attached. Cocktails and wine 8-10euro large beer 4. Serves food didn’t try as we were half board. Breakfast and Dinner at hotel was ideal - will post photos, blaklava immense. Suites themselves were outstanding. Quiet air con. Soundproof rooms (sea view face on to mambo bar but shut the door you hear nothing). Staff all hard working. Polite and happy to help. Mix up with our half board option but resolved next day no problem. We hired a small Suzuki car for 55euro to get us to water city for the day, great fun. £150 including lunch and drinks for the day. And £20 fuel. Bali itself you’re in the second cove of four, plenty to explore. Souvenir shops all sell the same stuff but laid back holiday vibe switch off brain is accomplished here. Read up on the four coves here on trip advisor and the taverna reviews we found were spot on , our fave was paradiso as it was close to our apartment for own toilet and the beach to nip across for a lovely lunch in the dappled shade. Their toilets aren’t great. But 36euros for pizza, Greek salad, burger chips, two sprites, table water and a small beer. Hope this is helpful.
