Filion Suites Resort & Spa is often lauded for its friendly service and lively atmosphere, complete with traditional entertainment like Greek dancing. While the hotel's mountain location is praised for its tranquility, the seclusion may pose a challenge for easy access. The rooms and maintenance receive mixed reviews, with guests enjoying the cleanliness of pools but finding room conditions and upkeep inconsistent. Opinions on value and amenities are divided, as some guests appreciate the offerings but others feel the experience doesn't align with the hotel's 5-star rating.

We had an amazing stay at The Filion suite and spa hotel. The food has a wide variety and caters to both vegetarian and meat eaters, with a beautiful view to sit and eat with.
Our rooms were always clean, and made up with fresh towels everyday and beds were made, the air con was just right after a day of being in the sun, fridge provided to keep your drinks cold and refreshing.
Entertainment was on every night from 8oclock, for both children and adults, great way to get everyone involved which created a great evening atmosphere.
Plenty of sunbeds and we were never left without one, there are three pools with ample space and the hygiene standards of the pool are 10/10, they are cleaned daily, all the sunbeds are washed down aswell as the floors. Bars snacks offer gyros and burgers and serve your own ice cream.
The bar staff were always happy to help and were very friendly, drinks were served very quickly and without fuss
The reception staff and staff around the hotel were very welcoming and always greeted with a smile. And most importantly the WiFi! It is quick and reaches around the entire hotel. Overall we were very happy with our stay and would love to come back again.

Sorry if you find this quite long but I’m trying to give a good overview for those travelling here next year. So I’d like to start with the location. It is beautiful , a slog from Chania airport 2.5 hrs, so would advise Heraklion if possible. High up in the mountains, about a mile or so from Bali town. Fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. Arrived to find reception organised, we got a courtesy bus to our room, not because it was far but it was hilly.
Was allocated a double room but was with my daughter so asked to change to a twin which they accommodated the next day, in fact we got an upgrade to a suite with pool views. Rooms are spotless and well serviced. Regina on reception is great and cannot do enough for you. The hotel, grounds, pools are spotless, it is very quiet with only a hint of background music from the pool bar. The hotel had a good mix of nationalities, whilst watching the magician one night, we found there were English, Irish, Italian, Spanish & Germans in the audience.
That brings me onto the entertainment, we went to watch it every night at 9pm, the magician was the best one there, it wasn’t the magic/comic more the audience participation. The remaining nights consisted mainly of traditional Greek music or entertainment, mainly duo’s so if you’re used to more theatrical shows etc then this won’t be for you.
The main let down for me with the hotel was the food, We managed to eat every morning and almost every evening, we found after a good breakfast we didn’t require lunch and grabbed fruit from the pool bar.
The size of the food islands aren’t very big hence there is limited choice, there was a salad bar then cold meats and cheeses and a grill area. There was always chicken of some description, sometimes with a pork dish and on two occasions there was fish, pasta & rice are plentiful . We found the food quite bland, nothing with any kick and it was quite repetitive. The food also wasn’t overly warm.
The courtesy bus into Bali was a god send, it was good to get out for an hour during the day, we ate in Bali one day to break up the usual routine and it was cheap.
To summarise, a lovely quiet hotel, great staff, beautiful but quite remote location, clean and hygienic but could be even better if food was improved.
Overall a 4 ⭐️ hotel at best.
We used Bali Travel for a trip to Elifonisi Beach and Chania Town, would recommend them again.

Filion suites Resort & Spa is a facility that allows you to be in contact with uncontaminated nature.

It is just a few minutes' drive from the sea and Bali and a shuttle service is available for transfer to the Resort's private beach.

The rooms have a beautiful view and are clean.
Equally clean and cared for is the pool area that is available at any time of day

In the evening there are shows typical of Greek and Cretan culture for the entertainment of guests.

The Resort also has a tennis court, gym and Spa (which we did not use)

The courteous and helpful staff and the freshly made crepes at breakfast are definitely the icing on the cake of our stay.

My stay at Filion Suites Resort and Spa was, without a doubt, the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had.

The hotel is noticeably old, which wouldn’t be an issue if proper maintenance and cleaning were in place—but unfortunately, they aren’t. Our bathroom smelled strongly of sewage, with mold on the walls. The shower door was missing a handle, and the shower head had no mount, leaving it to dangle awkwardly. We reported this issue on the first day, but nothing was done. After following up the next day, they "fixed" it, but the shower head still wouldn’t stay in place.

We paid extra for a mountain view, given the hotel’s location, but were instead placed on the ground floor with a balcony completely obstructed by trees. While this provided privacy, it completely blocked the view we had paid for. When we raised this issue with reception, they simply ignored our request to change rooms.

Room service was equally disappointing—our room wasn’t properly cleaned, and both the towels and sheets were stained. The hotel’s three pools were dirty and seemed unmaintained; the water was cloudy and far from the clear, inviting appearance you’d expect.

The food and drink offerings were another letdown. The buffet was repetitive and lacked variety, with the same subpar options every day. It was clear that the hotel opted for the cheapest ingredients. Drinks were of equally poor quality, with the bar limiting guests to two drinks at a time, both served from a tap. The only upside was that the beer was decent.

As for the staff, the only pleasant interaction we had was with the morning receptionist. Beyond that, service was consistently rude and unprofessional. The bartender was particularly unpleasant, treating guests poorly. At no point during our stay did we feel welcomed.

If you're expecting a five-star experience—or even just the basics—you’ll be deeply disappointed here. This hotel failed on every front, from cleanliness to service, and I would strongly advise against staying here.

avoid this hotel at all costs stayed with family end of June arrived to a dirty room, me and my daughter got severe stomach cramps during the first night we can only put this down to the hotel food! the food was slop and reheated from lunch and served at dinner most evenings me and my family ate at the beach most days, you are in the middle of no where with the hotel shop charging for overpriced items, bottled water is not supplied even at the bar it’s tap water they give you, the beach is about a 20 min drive so where the hotel tells you it’s within walking distance well you can walk but your risking your live as on a main road with no foot path and has very steep hills, the pool was unclean for most of our time there, hotel rooms around the hotel involve lots of steep steps and hills I’m fairly fit but even I struggled, the drinks yes they do cocktails but these are made with deluted juice not fresh fruit juices these cocktails come at a cost and most of the cocktails contain raki and ouzo, we witnessed the bar staff adding tap water to the drinks also to water them down! the only positives are with this hotel is the incredible location it’s beautiful and the hotel in itself could be 5 star as rooms are spacious but need cleaned better and revamped showering in scum on the floor and mould everywhere is just not acceptable, the manager Micheal and Regina on reception ignore your complaints they just advise about the good ones however one of the staff advised me that he had left a review to say he had stayed here so I do believe they most of these reviews are not valid well the good ones anyhow, most of the hotel staff are lovely the bar staff especially they are just working and trying there best, also towels in the hotel room were not changed regular with the maid telling me the hotel do not have enough to go round! Bali is beautiful the beach lovely with friendly staff but please choose another hotel my family are currently in a dispute with Thomas cook and I have told the manager after the amount we paid I’m going to make it my mission to have the hotel investigated so it loses it’s 5 star rating.

This is listed as a 5 star resort. It is definitely not 5 star. The problem with having a 5 star rating is the tourist tax is quite high, €10 per room per night, which was a bit of a shock.
Our room was a bit tired. There was a lightweight duvet, which had no cover on and had dark stains that looked like blood. Very unpleasant.
The shower cubicle had a large overhead shower head, which would have been great, if it worked. The flexible hose shower mounted lower down the wall had to be balanced on top of the other shower head.
The hot water was not hot and sometimes was not even warm. A kettle in the room was a nice touch. However no cups supplied or tea/coffee/milk.
The food was good. The staff were pleasant.
The bar area furniture was mostly quite shabby.
This resort is quite a trek from Bali. There is a free transfer minibus. It only holds 8 people so there can be a problem at busy times. The bus stops running at 5ish so no trawling the delights of Bali at night.
The pool areas are nice, the pools well maintained.

Firstly the hotel offers good value for money but I do not know how it is classed as five star? The suites are a good size and we had a large balcony to enjoy the view. The atmosphere is good but it was very early on in the season - I think it would be a very different matter in the Summer. This is a good time to go on a diet as the food is very poor. The drinks are also poorly made and served .We went to the local shop and bought our own drinks as the beer is very weak. In the evening the older bar man does not seem to know anything about serving drinks and the service is slow. It is the only hotel I have ever visited in Europe when they have never asked for my passport but immediately took the tourist tax. Maintenance around the hotel is poor and you rarely see staff doing any work to improve the environment. Overall though if you want a short break that does not cost a lot to enjoy the sunshine it is worth going to lose weight !

the hotel deserves max two stars, not five! and has many cons, it's an old resort located between a hill, that's mean you are far away from the beach. food wasn't as good as it supposed be, unclean glasses in restaurant. at start when we arived, the hotel want to charge me double 10 euro per day tax (i paid earlier that tax) and that's not cool at all! They add to transanstion extra "markup" fee 4.33% (DCC) that's second thing uncool. i have master card, never had that kind of issue. the rooms are very old, beds are stinking of sweat. elevator only for some guest, problems with magnetic card, it stoped works and we can't enter to our room for a while, if you wanna rent a car in reception the cost is very expensive :) About pros, fresh orange juice every morning, quiet resort and that very cool, cleaned three pools, tasty gin&tonic, a/c works very well, no extra fee for parking, early breakfast available, the rooms were cleaned every day even when you hang sign "don't disturb".

Six of us, ie 3couples stayed at the hotel for a week in October this year. The hotel has amazing views, excellent food and brilliant staff.
It's a great place to stay if you drive your own car as the hotel is in quite a remote place high up in the mountains. The hotel provides a shuttle service every hour to the nearby beach as it's too far to walk
That's all the good stuff.

The bad stuff was when we arrived the rooms we booked were not available and they tried to persuade us to share a 4 bed villa with only 2 bathrooms. When we insisted that we need 3 bathrooms as we're 3 couples they finally found us 3 rooms with bathrooms. But the PROBLEM WAS THERE WAS NO HOT WATER! We complained many times to the hotel, they assured us they'll fix it or that they've fixed it but the water was just lukewarm at most. One of our party became ill after coughing all night and we had to cancel a trip we had planned. Then I complained to Travelodeal who organised the holidays for us, their apology came the day of our departure from the hotel. Back home for a week now I've been very ill as well with very bad cough and temperature.
I feel they put us in an older part of the hotel where the plumbing and boiler were not working as it should as we used to get occasional sewer smell from the wash basin!!!

Just got back from a wonderful 10 day holiday staying at the Filion Hotel in Crete. this has to be one of our best hidays to date ,the staff at the hotel cannot do enough to make your holiday a memorable time.
Rooms are always cleaned to a high standard everyday with a good selection of food at the main restaurant to cater for all of the family.
Defeninatly worth coming back with the family soon
