Just got back from from Crete. Nice holiday with friends, great weather. This hotel is not a 3.5 or 4 star hotel as some websites say, the pix hotel advertises with are NOT what we have seen, we had a room in old Army barracks, everything run down, no shower curtains so when you shower the whole bathroom is under water, including toilet seat and else. Staff is not friendly as some fake reviews say. Most customers, travellers who we met had asked hotel to change rooms, at times 3-4 times. Food is alright. Drinks are limited and you do NOT get real big brands, all cheap versions. We also did not see a spa or pool as advertised.
Aircon, sunbeds and Wifi are all at extra costs. no pool towels, normal bathroom towels are not clean (stained). No hairdryer so better take the credit card. Free water dispenser in reception was always empty. the transfer from Chania airport to hotel is not 45 mins it is double. Rooms in barracks we stayed in are not cleaned every day which made it even dirtier as bathroom always flooded, curtains were mouldy. We took it all on as we thought we wanted a holiday and enjoyed spending time with friends & kids, little did we know we got this. But I know that some holiday companies have taken hotel off their website as there were too many complaints. I would not go back to this hotel

Our room was in a part of the complex used a staff quarters. It was grubby, dated and the bathroom was mouldy.
No hot drink making facilities but there was a particularly grimy fridge.
Asked for a room change and offered to pay for an upgrade. We were offered a smaller room of similar appearance. Many of the other guests had similar experience to ours and all had also booked through Love Holidays. Draw your own conclusion.
The is a total lack of communication from the hotel regarding fundamental details such as location of pool and restaurant and meal times.
The resort was advertised as a spa with an indoor pool and two outdoor pools. Due to renovations there was only one outdoor pool.
The food was pretty good and staff were generally ok.
All things considered though I would strongly recommend you stay away from this awful place.
When locals, who are all friendly, discovered where we were staying there either winced, laughed or apologised.

I stayed in the Fereniki hotel 5 years ago and that’s why I booked it again, we turned up only to find that the hotel was under complete renovation and a building site. We were put in an appalling block of rooms that were so run down 😥 we were moved to a different room and building, it was basic but we had no choice. The staff were brilliant, George the porter (groom as they’re known) was so friendly and helpful as were all the other staff, who totally understood the situation that a lot of guests were experiencing. I’m amazed that holiday companies are still selling the hotel rooms for a hotel that is under construction 🤬 totally being miss sold. Also the all inclusive drinks by the pool are different from the other hotels that share the pool, so you’re only allowed the local spirits (🤢 even for cocktails) but everyone else is allowed the full menu of drinks. The barman is brilliant (Pete I think his name was) The room was cleaned daily , so very impressed with the housekeeping team. When the hotel is fully finished and ready I’m sure it will be amazing.

We have basically been homeless in Georgioupolous for a week. The room is so awful that we were up early to get out, spent as long as we could out that horrible room, and came back late hoping we were so tired that the awful conditions couldn’t keep us awake. The NOISE is unbelievable. I kid you not, we actually preferred showering down the beach because it was like an actual shower and not so much like being hosed down. There’s nothing in the rooms and I mean nothing. There’s a fridge but no glasses or plates and if you ask for them they say they’ll bring one tomorrow then just never do. Reception is clouded by other guests making complaints. We heard one guy complaining about the pool (or lack there of) and the reply was basically use the one in our other hotel or try and sneak into a better one! Food and drinks in another location next door and pretty abysmal, same thing day in and day out, drinks extremely limited. Oh and the sun beds down the beach are more comfortable than the bed in the hotel and in our delirium and desperation we almost went for it. Be smart, book somewhere else

My recent experience at Fereniki Resort & Spa was nothing short of a nightmare, and I feel compelled to share my disappointment to warn other travelers. This was, by far, the worst holiday experience I have ever encountered, and I strongly advise against staying at this hotel. The level of service and the condition of the accommodations do not even come close to what one would expect from a 3-star hotel.

Upon arrival, our expectations were shattered when we were only given one Seaview room instead of the two we had booked and paid for. To add insult to injury, both rooms were nothing short of appalling. They were extremely outdated, dirty, and the bathrooms were in terrible condition. One of the rooms lacked air conditioning, leaving us to suffer through uncomfortably hot nights. Worse yet, the door lock in room number 14 was broken from the inside, rendering it completely unsafe and putting our security at risk. For seven nights, we had to endure a room with an unlocked door, and despite raising this concern daily, the hotel failed to address it.

After lodging a formal complaint, we were eventually given new Seaview rooms. However, the manner in which the hotel receptionist handled the situation was utterly unprofessional. I was coerced into signing a declaration that everything was resolved, without even having the chance to inspect the new room properly. To our dismay, the replacement rooms also had broken air conditioning units, leaving us with no escape from the oppressive heat.

Throughout our stay, I made it a point to report these issues to the hotel staff every single morning. Additionally, I took the initiative to write an email outlining our grievances, but to our utter dismay, we were met with complete silence and indifference from the hotel management.

The overall lack of concern for guests' well-being and the hotel's refusal to address our valid complaints has left us deeply disheartened. We expected to enjoy a relaxing and enjoyable vacation after working hard all year and saving up for this special occasion. Instead, we were met with incompetence, discomfort, and a complete disregard for our safety and comfort.

In conclusion, I urge prospective travelers to avoid Fereniki Resort & Spa at all costs. The experience we endured was nothing short of a nightmare, and I would not wish this on anyone else. It is my sincere hope that this review serves as a cautionary tale, prompting the hotel management to take necessary measures to improve their services and facilities.

Please don’t listen to the five star reviews, they are written by the hotel staff.

No self-respecting person would book this hotel if they knew what it was really like. There’s no pool here as allegedly theirs is under construction but you can use another hotel’s pool but it’s still not great. The room was very dirty, mould in large dark patches, stray hairs, air conditioning systems that were fluffy with dirt/dust and thus unusable in the raging heat. The noise levels at night are unbelievable given the paper thin walls. No bounce in the mattress whatsoever. Cleaning staff don’t come everyday and do the bare minimum.
Food passable but still the lowest standard I’ve experienced in an all-inc.
It’s true what people say in the other reviews, the locals are full of bad things to say about this hotel, one person telling us it’s notoriously bad and other hotels often have guests from Fereniki begging for a room. Stay away.

I must say it was a delightful experience. The resort is situated extremely close to the beach, which is perfect for anyone who loves to take a swim in the sea or simply relax on the golden sands. The rooms are clean and comfortable with a breathtaking view of the sea. The restaurant staff were incredibly charming and always eager to help with anything guests needed. The food was also delicious, and I definitely recommend trying out the local cuisine. Additionally, the resort's transfer services provided excellent value for money by offering several day trips around Crete.

Bam în Georgioupolis for a solo trip and stayed at this wonderful budget hotel! The rooms are old but clean and we'll maintained. The cleaners are attentive and the reception girl (Helena) is very cooperative with requests. Food was OK at the all inclusive restaurant, I will come back!

I cannot believe this hotel is still in business! I stayed here a few years ago and it has to be the worst hotel I've ever been to. Constant fatigue from a mere few hours sleep every night as the curtains were almost see through so at sunrise it was impossible to stay asleep, not that I wanted to remain any longer in the rock hard bed with one lifeless pillow.

The shower was hit and miss, there was limited hot water especially at night and the floors were constantly dirty as you'd feel bits on your feet after walking around the room.
Paying for Aircon in a country that hot is a disgrace, the TV belongs in a museum and there was no signal 70% of the time.

The only good thing about the hotel is what surrounds it, the mountain views were spectacular and the hotel is right on the beach with just a small walk to a lively town and plenty of amazing authentic restaurants. We ate out as often as we could afford as the food at Ferenki is the worst part of our stay.
Breakfast was probably the only half decent meal with eggs, beans, potatoes and a few other options but it was very limited, the cereal was cardboard and there was a small fruit bowl with a few apples and oranges but nothing fresh on display with yogurts as expected.
Any juice, wine or beverage was heavily watered down, almost undrinkable, the wine and beers in the evening were warm and there were no other alcoholic options.
Whatever was out at lunch was certainly recycled for dinner, I'm a fussy eater so I stuck with rice, chips and pasta but my partner eats anything going and even this food put him off, we tossed most the meat to the stray dogs lingering next to the restaurant.

I wish we'd of paid more for a better hotel because with the amount we spent in the local shop on basic food to get us through the day, we could've had a beautiful stay in this gorgeous country. But instead it was tarnished by this hotel that puts Greece to shame.

Hi...if you are still looking to book this please don't. It is truly awful. Much better hotels in the resort but if you look at Summer Beach, be aware they let Fereniki guests use it and you are like sardines around it. Not enough beds or space. They use the restaurant at the Fereniki so it will become manic in June / July/ August.
