Aircon, sunbeds and Wifi are all at extra costs. no pool towels, normal bathroom towels are not clean (stained). No hairdryer so better take the credit card. Free water dispenser in reception was always empty. the transfer from Chania airport to hotel is not 45 mins it is double. Rooms in barracks we stayed in are not cleaned every day which made it even dirtier as bathroom always flooded, curtains were mouldy. We took it all on as we thought we wanted a holiday and enjoyed spending time with friends & kids, little did we know we got this. But I know that some holiday companies have taken hotel off their website as there were too many complaints. I would not go back to this hotel
No hot drink making facilities but there was a particularly grimy fridge.
Asked for a room change and offered to pay for an upgrade. We were offered a smaller room of similar appearance. Many of the other guests had similar experience to ours and all had also booked through Love Holidays. Draw your own conclusion.
The is a total lack of communication from the hotel regarding fundamental details such as location of pool and restaurant and meal times.
The resort was advertised as a spa with an indoor pool and two outdoor pools. Due to renovations there was only one outdoor pool.
The food was pretty good and staff were generally ok.
All things considered though I would strongly recommend you stay away from this awful place.
When locals, who are all friendly, discovered where we were staying there either winced, laughed or apologised.
Upon arrival, our expectations were shattered when we were only given one Seaview room instead of the two we had booked and paid for. To add insult to injury, both rooms were nothing short of appalling. They were extremely outdated, dirty, and the bathrooms were in terrible condition. One of the rooms lacked air conditioning, leaving us to suffer through uncomfortably hot nights. Worse yet, the door lock in room number 14 was broken from the inside, rendering it completely unsafe and putting our security at risk. For seven nights, we had to endure a room with an unlocked door, and despite raising this concern daily, the hotel failed to address it.
After lodging a formal complaint, we were eventually given new Seaview rooms. However, the manner in which the hotel receptionist handled the situation was utterly unprofessional. I was coerced into signing a declaration that everything was resolved, without even having the chance to inspect the new room properly. To our dismay, the replacement rooms also had broken air conditioning units, leaving us with no escape from the oppressive heat.
Throughout our stay, I made it a point to report these issues to the hotel staff every single morning. Additionally, I took the initiative to write an email outlining our grievances, but to our utter dismay, we were met with complete silence and indifference from the hotel management.
The overall lack of concern for guests' well-being and the hotel's refusal to address our valid complaints has left us deeply disheartened. We expected to enjoy a relaxing and enjoyable vacation after working hard all year and saving up for this special occasion. Instead, we were met with incompetence, discomfort, and a complete disregard for our safety and comfort.
In conclusion, I urge prospective travelers to avoid Fereniki Resort & Spa at all costs. The experience we endured was nothing short of a nightmare, and I would not wish this on anyone else. It is my sincere hope that this review serves as a cautionary tale, prompting the hotel management to take necessary measures to improve their services and facilities.
No self-respecting person would book this hotel if they knew what it was really like. There’s no pool here as allegedly theirs is under construction but you can use another hotel’s pool but it’s still not great. The room was very dirty, mould in large dark patches, stray hairs, air conditioning systems that were fluffy with dirt/dust and thus unusable in the raging heat. The noise levels at night are unbelievable given the paper thin walls. No bounce in the mattress whatsoever. Cleaning staff don’t come everyday and do the bare minimum.
Food passable but still the lowest standard I’ve experienced in an all-inc.
It’s true what people say in the other reviews, the locals are full of bad things to say about this hotel, one person telling us it’s notoriously bad and other hotels often have guests from Fereniki begging for a room. Stay away.
The shower was hit and miss, there was limited hot water especially at night and the floors were constantly dirty as you'd feel bits on your feet after walking around the room.
Paying for Aircon in a country that hot is a disgrace, the TV belongs in a museum and there was no signal 70% of the time.
The only good thing about the hotel is what surrounds it, the mountain views were spectacular and the hotel is right on the beach with just a small walk to a lively town and plenty of amazing authentic restaurants. We ate out as often as we could afford as the food at Ferenki is the worst part of our stay.
Breakfast was probably the only half decent meal with eggs, beans, potatoes and a few other options but it was very limited, the cereal was cardboard and there was a small fruit bowl with a few apples and oranges but nothing fresh on display with yogurts as expected.
Any juice, wine or beverage was heavily watered down, almost undrinkable, the wine and beers in the evening were warm and there were no other alcoholic options.
Whatever was out at lunch was certainly recycled for dinner, I'm a fussy eater so I stuck with rice, chips and pasta but my partner eats anything going and even this food put him off, we tossed most the meat to the stray dogs lingering next to the restaurant.
I wish we'd of paid more for a better hotel because with the amount we spent in the local shop on basic food to get us through the day, we could've had a beautiful stay in this gorgeous country. But instead it was tarnished by this hotel that puts Greece to shame.
This was, the worst holiday experience I have ever encountered, and I strongly advise against staying at this hotel. The level of service and the condition of the accommodations do not even come close to what one would expect from a 3-star hotel.
They don’t have water to allow us to have a shower when we came back from the beach to the room.
The bed was old, the TV doesn’t work and they don’t do nothing to change it.
In conclusion, I strongly recommend to all travellers to avoid Fereniki Resort & Spa at all costs. The experience we endured was nothing short of a nightmare, and I would not wish this on anyone else. It is my sincere hope that this review serves as a cautionary tale, prompting the hotel management to take necessary measures to improve their services and facilities.
