there were pictures of cute bungalows in a lovely garden on all web pages and catalogs, so we booked one for our holiday this year. We were surprised when they gave us a room in a building above an Italian restaurant, some 30 m far from the E75 highway (Chania - Rethymno). We couldn't even guess this building was a part of the hotel. The window of the room faced west, so there was as hot as in a stove in the evenings and the air conditioning could be switched only when the key was in the scanner inside the room. We couldn't open the window due to noise from the highway and couldn't sleep with AC switched on because the stream of cold air blew directly on our heads. After two days of permanent complaints, we succeeded to change the room. Sleep-deprived and totally upset we finally got a room in one of the bungalows. The rest of our stay was fine. Kind people (esp. Maria from reception), a beautiful beach just beside the hotel, tasty food, a jeep safari, and trips to near towns and places of interest (from the bus stop a couple of steps from the hotel) nearly healed us from our traumatic experience. If you have got good luck with your room, you can experience really happy days.

A strange little hotel. Note that we were the only English people there, and the German clientele may or may not be your cup of tea, as they have their unique quirks! It depends what you're after from your holiday of course, but here are my thoughts: Pros: - A lovely welcome and check-out experience from the girl on reception. - Very clean, spacious, and modern rooms. - Some beautiful flowers and plants which were well maintained. - Brilliant beach. Sea very warm for swimming and always lots of sunbeds - some of the reviews mention the stones but these weren't a problem, only when you're getting in and out of the water. - Mountain views and stunning sunsets. - Great fridge in the room and air-con for keeping things chilled. - Good location with a bus stop, supermarkets, bars, and shops just across the road - Nice breakfast: I particularly enjoyed the fresh omelettes, which were always served with a smile. - The manager, who was mid-conversation with someone when we checked out, made a point of approaching us to shake our hands, which was a sweet touch. Cons: - The smell of sewage in the restaurant was at times, unbearable. You have to put all your toilet paper in the bin so I can only guess not everyone obeys the signs and the drains are struggling. - Repetitive and often very salty food. I'm not a fussy eater and will eat most things but we had to go out a couple of times to eat, as we were all-inclusive and got bored. The more traditional options like moussaka were the tastiest. We didn't try the a la carte restaurant because we weren't keen on paying for drinks when we were already all-inclusive. - Noise in the evening from the adjacent French hotel, and in the daytime on the beach from the Italian hotel (not a problem for us but some might find it a bit much). - Disengaged bar staff. One girl in the main restaurant was very standoffish all the time, even though we tried to smile and be friendly with her. Vivien was excellent though and deserves a mention. - The hotel is very quiet in the evenings - there's the odd event but it's the exception rather than the norm, and one night the bar closed well before 10 pm. When there is an event on they close the pool bar, which means everyone is pushed into the restaurant area and you can't have as much freedom over where you sit to eat. - The layout is bizarre, with another hotel in between the two main areas. There's a lot of wasted space (for example in the reception area and behind the main pool), and I feel the hotel would benefit from having more of a central hub where people can come together. There's a beautiful terraced area out the front, leading off reception, which would make a gorgeous bar - The shower lacked power and we sometimes struggled to get hot water in the evenings. - No blackout blind or curtain on our window which let quite a lot of light in the room. - Drink options were limited (and possibly watered down?) and we were disappointed to find the cocktails were ready-made, out of a pre-mixed bottle. No option to have bottled water, so we had to buy ours from the supermarket. This wasn't our main holiday, it was a bonus getaway at the end of summer, so it did the job. But I think I'd have been disappointed if it was my only opportunity for a break. If you're after a cheap and cheerful holiday to sit on the beach and swim in the sea, I'd recommend just going half board or bed and breakfast here and heading out in the evenings for some nightlife (there was a brilliant cafe across the road with live music, and some brilliant tavernas and cocktail bars). If you want a quiet hotel where you can just have a couple of drinks and maybe play cards in the evening, you're all set. Because there are more pros than cons here, it sounds like we had a terrible time, but we made it work by getting out and about in the evenings and because the beach was so lovely and the room was good we did have a nice time. I think if some of the negative points could be addressed though, Happy Days could really shine.

We just came back from Crete, we stayed at Happy Days for one week. My advice: do not waste your money. We booked a “Superior Double Room with Garden View” (paid for since February) and I was extremely disappointed to see that our room had no windows. ZERO windows, just a glass door, matted, like a toilet door. How is that a Superior Double Room with Garden View IF YOU HAVE NO WINDOW? Also, look at the floor in the photo :( Other surprises: the beach is not nice at all, dirty and full of rocks, they offer ZERO service on the beach. If you paid for breakfast + dinner do not expect a 4* experience, as they only offer cheap meals and you will be charged 2 euro for a glass of water during dinner. All in all, it would be a great 2* hotel, my problem is that I had other expectations.

This was our first trip to Greece, Creta. We couldn't be happier for the place we've chosen to stay - Happy Days Hotel, in Georgioupolis. Although we arrived late, we were greeted with nice words and cool drinks :) The hotel is very close to the beach (1 minute walk), has very warm people who serve you and has an extraordinary good food in their restaurant. We were always greeted with kind words, we've found helpful and polite staff whenever we had any needs, a very careful manager - always looking that every little thing is in place and everyone is satisfied. The beach offers a fantastic view, sea on on side, mountains on the other side. Yes, it has some rocks at the shore, some portions of the beach have 2-3 m of them, other portions less. Small rocks, anyway, you can easily pass them barefoot, I had no problems doing that. Some portions of the beach will lead you to very shallow waters (40-50 cm, up to 1m), others will lead you to a bit deeper waters (1.5 m). No problems finding lounge chairs to rent on the beach. The umbrellas were not all in a very good condition, but we've managed to get working ones pretty much always. We've received some massage coupons, I didn't used mine but my girlfriend used hers - she told me she never had anywhere a better massage. And that is coming from a person with back problems for years, after being in quite a few massage places. She was absolutely thrilled. For me personally (although I am not a food-passionate), probably the next best thing after the amazing view of sea and mountains next to each other was the food. The restaurant had an amazing variety of food, both in morning and in the evening (we didn't booked an all-inclusive offer). We had no problems finding tavernas in mid-day, we've tried 3 or 4 in our week there, the food was very good in these places too, we've found warm people there as well :) The restaurant had all the food displayed for everyone to pick anything they like, we were simply amazed by the tasteful and very good looking food they prepared for us. Courteous staff, always careful at clients needs, warm and cheerful people, I've made (for a few days) some friends among them :) Well, I've already passed 2000 characters, so I'm gonna end this review here saying that I personally would always recommend this place to any of my friends and family and I would love to go back there someday :)

My family and I had a very enjoyable stay at The Happy Days Hotel in August 2019: Pros: - Very high-quality food with good choice for both vegetarians and meat eaters - Very accommodating staff who took on any feedback and were very friendly and welcoming - Beautiful pool, warm and inviting - Hotel is right on the beach. No issues getting sun beds - Calm and intimate hotel Cons: - I expect when you have paid for all-inclusive, it should be ALL inclusive. However, I was disappointed to have to pay to use facilities such as darts board, table football etc - Plus, only 4 basic cocktails were included, all other cocktails were full price; no fresh juices included - No evening entertainment Tips for visitors: Would recommend bringing scuba / swim water shoes as there are pebbles along the shore to enter the sea although once you’re in, it’s lovely Overall a solid 4-star hotel – very enjoyable but without that 5* luxurious feel.

This was a holiday with friends; our annual trip before returning to work. Upon arrival we were greeted with a welcome drink. Check-in was very quick and then we were escorted to our room. We did note at this point just how clean and well presented the reception and communal areas were indeed this was a common theme throughout the hotel. Our room was very clean and had been prepared to meet the needs of three people. We did need to ask for more coat hangers; which were delivered very promptly. The bathroom contained a very large shower. The view from the balcony was of the garden walkways and very pleasant. The dining area was located at the end of a beach path. The whole area allows for stunning views of the Ocean. The dining area was clean, furniture well spaced and comfortable As we were all inclusive we were pleased to note the wide variety if food available for breakfast, lunch and evening meal. The variety ensured that diets, cultures and religious needs were met. The food was always hot and tasty. The desserts were amazing with plenty of fresh fruit available. We never struggled to find anything to eat. The staff throughout these areas were always very polite, respectful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. I was even given a birthday cake to celebrate my birthday on the day. The pool areas again were always very clean. The pool bar areas also were very well kept and well stocked. The Hotel itself was a very quiet and tranquil place to spend a week. We were all very impressed and would happily return. If you enjoy quiet places to chill and recharge then this is a very suitable hotel. I would recommend this hotel to others.

I booked a week at this hotel, especially because it was located in Crette. but it was far from what the Crette offered us two years ago. small beach, full of piles of stones, in the water we could barely enter because of the big stones. very little arranged. you have no where to buy a juice, because they have no shops or terraces on the beach. although the hotel claims to be 4 stars, apart from the fact that it was clean, it did not rise to 4 star standards.the staff quite aggressive and not at all welcoming. as if desperate not to empty the canteen of the same food. they did not offer diversity at all. they offered the same food every day. cheap ham, bad quality sausages, the worst bacon (you wouldn't give it to your puppy). They only offer drinks in the morning, the worst quality coffee. they claimed to offer fresh juices and in fact they were acid-free juices of the worst quality. with a horrible taste. we arrived at the hotel around 9 pm and me and my husband were greeted quite badly by the lady at the reception who spoke more German than English. in total, we have been approached 3 times in German, although we have repeatedly told them that we do not come from Germany nor speak the language. we were bombarded with rules about the canteen as soon as we entered there, although we were terribly tired of 15 hours of travel. and we were treated badly. I recommend this hotel and this area only to the elderly who want to have peace of mind and who do not have too high expectations regarding the quality of food and drinks.
