It has 62 rooms, all well equipped with private bathroom (with shower or bath), minibar, colour TV with remote control, direct dial telephone with outside, free Wi-Fi connection and air conditioning. So I'm here on business, three days traveling and two working and I have a cold. It sucks being alone, and not speaking the language. But I love this place. The woman working the desk during the day speaks excellent English, and the owner is not to bad ether. But it’s a little spotty beyond that. But that’s Okay. This is Italy, not the US., and not a tourist destination. Get over it. Its where the working everyday people of Italy live. As long as you have a great staff that is willing to work with you to understand your Italian/Spanish/English monstrosity that is spilling out of your mouth, it will all work out. That’s why I love Italy. The history is amazing, the food is awesome, but the people are what makes this country. So on to the hotel. Better that most 3 stars. The rooms are big, but dated. (its not the Marriot but also its ¼ of the price). The restaurant is great. The food and table wine makes you appreciate how good the Italians live. BTW everything is about 1/3 the price as the U.S. I would highly recommend this place. Even if it’s not for business, it’s a great value and a comfortable, clean, and safe place for the night.

Modo Hotel has lovely staff. I was with a conference group. They offered us specialties at breakfast, including meats and cheeses (and not just sweet pastries) and specialty coffees. The same gentlemen who were up at dawn to prepare breakfast were still up late at night closing out the bar. The rooms are a bit odd. Mine had green felt covering the walls (rather like what you find on a billiards table). But the room was comfortable and quiet. The hotel is close to a hospital, and many guests are clearly using it for its proximity. You can expect to see people on crutches or in wheelchairs in the restaurant. It's about a twenty to thirty minute walk into the town center. You can enjoy in the lobby a window case display of model cars, mostly Ferraris. Vercelli is in the center of Italy's rice growing region, and upon departure guests were presented with a lovely cloth sack of the local rice. I've been making some great risottos with it.

Lots of plastic trees and green in the reception. Very old decor and no one speaks English. Food ok but not open late. Breakfast terrible. Room is very basic and not very comfortable with green Velcro walls. I don't think it's a bad location

Modo Hotel is a nice hotel close to Vercelli city-centre. Super friendly and attentive staff. The rooms are great (I think they have modified since the last reviewer posted his/her comments) and spacious. Free wifi (just ask for the password at the desk), and breakfast spread was good. Huge cappuchino's at breakfast. If you're traveling for academic work at the Cathedral, it's about a ten to fifteen minute walk from the Archivo, which isn't too bad at all. I also received a bag of rice upon checking out. Pleasant (if albeit random) surprise!

We checked into the Modo Hotel late night when snow made the roads a bit ugly. The staff was very friendly and the room itself was decent/standard and pretty spacious as Italian hotels go. The problem was the room's smell (it smelled of many other travelers past). The blanket on the bed was dirty (we didn't use it) though the sheets were clean. The bathroom could use some updates but was clean. Internet cost 2 euros per hour. Breakfast was included in the price and was standard. The best part of our stay was the huge cappuccino offered at breakfast. Honestly, if the hotel replaced all the fabric in each room (blankets, curtains, rugs), it would be a significant improvement and I would recommend this hotel. Until that happens, I recommend looking elsewhere.
