Detailed Reviews
Stayed here over Christmas and were not sorry. Nice room with comfortable beds and chairs, good shower. Breakfast buffet more than adequate and the (set) evenings meals (on Xmas eve and day) were well thought out and presented.
Unfortunately the weather was very bad, so having a long walk in the very nice surroundings wasn't a real option, so we might have to go back in another season to make up for that ;-)

our room and beds were OK. Space enough. Outsight lousy. Shower very oldfashioned and water coming out from wrong places. The food was uneatable most of the 3 days. Breakfast was lousy. Hot boiled eggs boiled much too long.

We often stay in Fletcher hotels, and though it is a sort of a chain they are really quite different one from the other. This one has classical old fashioned spacious ground floor for dining, bar and lounge. We had a basic room (budget) which is really small. The bathroom is also very small. One survives but budget is budget. The general atmosphere is somewhat worn, renovation is in order.

We were road-tripping through the Netherlands and decided to stop off at this hotel. Upon arrival the room wasn’t ready yet, but we payed and checked in as it was a 4* hotel centrally located. When we got back to the hotel at 15h00 we were told there were no more rooms in the main hotel and were given a tiny, hot and stuffy room that smelled of urine, across the road … it was simply awful. We went back to the reception to check out and ask for a refund of €200 that we had paid. We were told that this was ‘not possible’. We asked to speak to the manager but were told he wasn’t on site. This whole experience left us feeling deceived.

Very close to the centre of Bergen. The hotel room was nice and clean. Excellent breakfast every morning. Unfortunately the sound insulation is insufficient, and it is not possible to watch TV in the evening without disturbing the neighbours.

We used to live in the very pretty village of Bergen and come back on average once a year to visit family and friends. We have stayed in this hotel numerous times. Main reason of choosing this hotel is its location. It is situated in the centre of the village and all cafes, bars and restaurants are in 5 minutes walking distance. Also the beautiful woods are close by. The hotel used to be ok, not really a 4 star establishment but of an acceptable standard. Unfortunately this hotel is gradually declining and nothing is done about it. Rooms are looking very tired now and the decorations and soft furnishing in some of the rooms are plainly ridiculous. The TV sets are at least 20 years old and hardly work anymore. Housekeeping is appalling and if you stay for more than 1 night the only things what is done to your room is straitening the bed and changing the towels. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided but used tea and coffee is not replaced. During our recent 3 nights stay the bathroom has not been cleaned once (a dirty footprint on the floor was there when we arrived and was still there when we left), toilet paper was not replaced and one day the room was not made up at all. This so called 4 star hotel does not have a head of housekeeping so the work (if any) of the chambermaids is not checked.
Breakfast is adequate, although staff seems indifferent and at busy mornings guests are emptying and laying tables themselves! We did not have dinner in this hotel. Unless this hotel is changing directions and embarks on a major renovation project, we will give the place a miss in the future.

Unfortunately my company booked this hotel for a business meeting. I think I've been in better hostels, and this pretend to be a 4 stars accommodation. Ridiculous. Food is horrible, rooms are small and dirty, tv set of 20 years ago. This is a money loss and irritating place.

On August 6 I have made reservation to this hotel via Booking.com, reservation No. 328578453 for 2 rooms for three nights arriving August 12 (a week away). I was searching a hotel in Bergen Norway. Apparently, there is a city by the same name in The Nederlands where the Fletcher hotel is.
You can see where the problems is going to come from… right?
Upon realizing that the search results for Bergen included hotels in Bergen which is not the Bergen in Norway, I have attempted to cancel the reservation and refund.
The hotel refused, claiming correctly that if I have read the small print their cancelation policy to withhold 85% (or thereabouts) of reservation cost if cancelation is made within 2 weeks of arrival dates.
Needless to say that I have made the booking a week away from arrival date, so immediately I was on the firing line…
It took me several long and unpleasant conversations with hotel management until I was able to get the cancelation cost down to 'only' 379 Euros!!!!
Beware of the Fletcher… very much after your money with very unfriendly and uncommon cancelation policy

On arrival we found the parking of the hotel blocked by a coach (from Danmark). It was the beginning of a lamentable stay, last year. But our experiences should not be unmentioned.
'Marijke' advertises itself as a 4*accommodation, but even in Bergen stars do not just fall from heaven. We had to carry our suitcases up the stars in the absence of an elevator; in the corridor towards the room it was impossible to walk upright as the ceiling was too low. And we are normal length..
The room was noisy, the walls problably of hardboard. The bathroom was small, the shower hardly producing any water. The television set was small as well, with just a few channels to choose from. And the other functions (text, view bill and so on) were not functioning at all.
When we returned in he evening after a (nice) meal in the (nice) village of Bergen we took a drink in the bar. Nice girl to serve the drinks, but she announced at the same time the last round, although it was not that late.
In the morning we were too dejected to try breakfast. Check out was at reception, where the ladies gave the impression that we should be glad to be allowed to stay in this hotel. We were glad to escape as soon as possible and did not go in debate over the fee for the parking that we never could arrive at.
Leaving Bergen we asked ourselves who awarded the four stars to a place that is defititely hardly worth two.

Dear ac123, there is a misunderstanding. Dam square is in amsterdam. Hotel marijke is in bergen-nh, about 40 km north of amsterdam. Maybe 40 min to drive or 1 hr by public transport ( train+bus). Good luck pietro bianchessi
Geen idee. Is een prachtig pand. Sfeervol binnen.
