Nice place. During the day a great view over Praia do Espelho, south. Dishes are ok, but nothing especial or a highlight. Service was in low Season a bit chaotic and could had been more sympatic. Not Bad, but a lot of possibilities for improvements.
This region of the Espelho beach has a couple of good alternatives to stay and this is one. On the top of the Falesia,in a cosy and nice village inside a private condominium, this hotel has the advantage of wonderful sunset and sunrise views from its mirante but you have to walk a 5-10 minutes walk to the beach below. It has good rooms, a nice pool also facing the sunset, a good restaurant with prices better than the village ones.
Outeiro can only be reached via an unsealed road off the Porto Seguro main road. During heavy rainfall the road can easily be floooded and passing in the mud is impossible (we nearly got stuck on the way back after 10 hours of rain only). The pousada is located on a cliff and you are overlooking the bays and Atlantic. Staff is very welcoming and caring and speaks English. The pool area is inviting, though the walk down the cliffs is worth every step. A nearby beach club day pass was included in our rate. Ants were passing through our room remembered us still being in the tropics, which was nevertheless very clean. A (quite pricy) excellent restaurant is just opposite the reception buidling. It is cheaper to go down to the bay.
We stayed 5 nights in all at Pousada do Outeiro as part of a riding holiday trip and we just loved it. The rooms are simple but very comfortable; the public areas and swimming pool are just delightful; the food was excellent and the setting is just wonderful with miles of deserted beaches just moments away. It was lovely and quiet and nothing was too much trouble for the staff and management. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back.
We chose the pousada based on the positive comments we got. It was supposed to be a dream vacation. We were extremely disappointed to find the pousada doens't have a generator strong enough to support the rooms. Therefore, to our dispair, we couldn't sleep for 3 nights due to the collapse of the air conditioning. We decided to come back earlier and they refused to refund us. All the guests were furious and the manager, who is very nice, just repeated she couldn't do anything about it... it is true that the electricity fails in Espelho, but the other Pousadas bought generators big enough to deal with the problem. On top of it, they infomed us the golf course was ready and in soft opening. This is far of being true...No one can play with a grass like that! and on top of it no Internet connection, no phones...niente, nada, nothing! I suggest the owners invest where they make their money!…
