I have ridden through there several times over the years on my mobility scooter . What I have seen of the accommodations is that they are similar to a very basic cottage or hunters camp hut . There is a bar and restaurant but have never tried either . The pool can look good but would question the maintenance as it often looks needed . The people are friendly but I never see other than Cubans there . The BEACH is great .
There was not a single tourist when we went, which was very nice. We had a look into travel lives of the Cuban people, who like to be very social, stay up late, drink a lot, and listen to VERY loud music late into the evening. The music by the pool is almost deafening. There is no where walking distance that sold food, so we bought everything there. It was very cheap and good, but be sure you figure out the hours and reservation system in advance. We were not told we needed a reservation for dinner, and were initially turned away by a VERY huffy woman. they finally took pity on us, since there was no where else to eat. The beach nearby is lovely, warm clear water, very safe, you can leave your stuff by the beach. If you see a woman nicknamed La China renting snorkels on the weekends, she is a wealth of information, and is very caring. The rooms are very basic. The light in the bedroom didn't work, the sheets were dirty, but everything was dirt cheap. An interesting experience.…
We toured Cuba for 7 weeks and stayed mostly in casa particulars. This was an exception. We stayed here for 3 nights. It's in a beautiful location but the facilities are not good. Our allocated cabin was quite basic and worn. The swimming pool was neglected, dirty and in our view unusable. The beach is not very comfortable and there is a lot of litter. The restaurant provided food but needed advance notice and the menu was very limited. Breakfast was small and very poor- no bread, no eggs. There is a cheap onsite shop but it had very few provisions. It ran out of beer on our first day. We mostly paid to use the hotel on the beach for provisions and swimming- a half hour's walk away. If you are looking for any kind of luxury or beach holiday this is not the place to choose. On the other hand the other campers, nearly all Cubans, were mostly very friendly.…
We walked over from Breezes just to check out this place. Oh, I don't think anyone but 3rd world would want to stay here. It is pretty scare, not dure how a bed would fit in these places, and of course no power. I would expect only locals might stay here and I doubt many of them. Sorry
Los Cocos was exactly what I was looking for, a pleasant stay at the beach with nice accommodations but no other tourists. My cabin was spacious, almost new, great A/C, hot water and an environment of friendly Cubans. The beach was OK but I am a Floridian with very high standards. I always ate at the smaller hut overlooking the beach where I was frequently the only one and developed a relationship with both cooks. I created the environment where service was excellent and had no complaints about the food. If you are looking for a place with the look, feel, and culture of your home country, where there is an ever present English speaking wait staff to cater to you, but on the beach in Cuba, this is not the place for you. It is an excellent Cuban "campground" not a tourist resort. The swimming pool was closed. If you want to go to the beach and then swim in a pool instead of the ocean, this is not your kind of place. I took a hike down the beach and toured the Breezes while I was staying at Los Cocos. It is obvious that each place serves its own different market. If what you want is excellent facilities on the beach, where everyone addresses their own needs, and with a great group of Cubans; then Los Cocos Campesimo is the place for you.…
