Everything in the resort was smooth flowing and the managers (Taylor and Aji) really made sure everything was carefree for myself and all i needed to do was jump in the water and relax. The boat crew, Capt Habibie and Guide Jimmy were great fun and made sure i had a great time on the boat and underwater at all times. Food was great, different menu every day when i stayed there, kitchen ladies were always smily and friendly. Nothing more i could say other then it was a perfect getaway, especially during these special times.
My review will not suffice or give due justice to the overall amazing experience I had at Kalimaya Dive Resort in the latter part of March, 2020. Let me begin by stating that in my research for a unique solo dive trip in Southeast Asia, I came across Kalimaya Dive Resort. Despite it not being around Bali or the typical advertised Indonesian diving hot spots, their website and description of dive sites unique to their area as well as beach side bungalows (to accommodate a small or underwhelming amount of guests, so I knew I could have some relaxation and isolation in my dive retreat if I wanted it away from other guests) completely drew me in almost “to good to be true,” but the haven was indeed true and much more. I ended up planning an overseas excursion to Indonesia COMPLETELY…
Having been to Kalimaya about a year and a half ago, I am not sure why I waited so long to come back. The place is stunning, service is top-notch with impeccable service from the booking process, pickups & on-site. I usually go there as a family and all the staff is welcoming and careful with kids. It's a proper relaxing time. The beach & surroundings are perfect for kids allowing you as a parent to enjoy your time while your children are playing. The managers are lovely and will make sure to provide you with everything (within reason) you need. The rooms are overseeing their private beach and there is so much attention to detail. From the beach bag they provide you to go around, to the reusable bottles in the fridge that you can buy onsite to reduce plastic. There is no…
We stayed as a couple beginning of November at the Kalimaya dive resort and would definitely recommend this place to other diving couples. Advance communication with the resort was throughout highly responsive and helpful. In terms of the trip organization everything worked out very smoothly. We arrived on a Friday at Bima Airport which was a bit chaotic but okay. The driver organized by the resort pick us up at the airport and brought us on a two hour ride to Kalimaya. The streets to get their are quiet curvy but the view and the impressions are definitely worth to accept the inconveniences. At the time of our arrival there was a lot of fume from farming fires all over the island and we were quite concerned that we will have a smelly time, but at Kalimaya itself the air was…
Everything went a smooth as clockwork from pickup from airport, check-in, stay and diving. Very well run resort with fabulous accommodation, wonderful meals, fantastic staff and a great common area with a pool. Dive side equally well run and terrific facilities where nothing was a problem, and our dive guide Jimmy was just wonderful.
I had a fun filled and peaceful diving week at Kalimaya. I travelled as a solo diver but never felt lonely, and got the space and privavcy i wanted. 18 dives - every one was enjoyable. The coral is mindblowing at every site. the Mantas lovely and I didnt need to fight big current to see them. Fish is abundant including things i'd never seen before - nearly swallowed all my air in one when the guide pointed out a Giant Frogfish! Black sand night dives were awesome. If you go be sure to take your macro lens! The small stuff is plentiful and everywhere. Tiny shrimp, spectacular nudi, even a pygmey seahorse. On the black sand nightdive we got even more small stuff including baby everything... long arm baby octupus was stunning. And we never met a other dive group. Usually…
My father and I had a great week at the Kalimaya Dive restort with Tegan and Stu. I was a bit sick in the beginning of the week and Tegan an her staff helped me with medicine and food. Thank you so much for that!
My husband and I had an amazing vacation at Kalimaya. We were looking for a dive destination away from all the crowds with great accomodations, amenities and diving. Kalimaya exceeded our expectations and looking forward to going back. The managers (Tegan and Stuart), staff and dive crew were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed Tegan and Stuart's conversations at meal time; it creates a great family/friend atmosphere. The rooms were great; bungalow style on the beach. We could see the sunrise over the water from our room. AC in the bedroom and outdoor shower in the back. Meals were served at a common table. Breakfast fare consisted of fruit, cereal and several choices for hot items. Lunch is 2-course and dinner is 3 courses; again options available. There were homemade snacks…
How can I possibly put in words what I think about this place?!? The resort lies nestled into this private bay in the middle of nowhere on the north east tip of Sumbawa. It's beautifully landscaped. It features the best sunrise in the world. The bungalows are specious and super clean. The food is just excellent! And the diving unreal. Talk about being away from the crowd!!! The corals are just stunning. I don't think I have seen such a biodiversity and healthy coral life anywhere else. The muck diving is to die for! Spool many different species of nudies, octopus, frogfish etc. And let's not forget the mantas and sharks! A-mazing. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful in all areas: dive crew, housekeeping, chefs and waiters and of course the managers! Job well done. I…
The location of this resort is incredible, with breathtaking views from each bungalow looking out across the beach. You can even watch the sunrise over Komodo from the comfort of your own bed. These same views follow through to the open dining area and pool, just a few steps away from the bungalows. The bungalows themselves have ample space, including a balcony, bedroom and outside shower room/WC (all with AC). All is tasteful decorated and feels like great quality throughout. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served each day. There are a couple of menu choices for each course and we very much enjoyed every single meal. By far the best food we have experienced on any dive trip. The diving was exceptional. We dived on 7 days and did not once see any other divers or dive…
