We stayed for 5 days 4 nights in Kalimaya.
Arrived in Bima airport and it took around 1.5 hours to reach the resort. They managed the transportation and you just sit, relax and enjoy the view during the ride.
You will pass the city of Bima, Sape and finally arrived in Poja, where the resort is located.
As soon as we arrived, we are blown away by the view and warm hospitality. The room had direct access to the beach and it gave you sense of privacy between one bungalow to the others.
View was amazing as you can see the sunrise directly from your room every morning.
Room was clean, had AC, big enough size to put the lugage and semi outdoor bathroom. Room had refrigerator with cold water which they refill everyday in eco bottle. It is certainly a plus since weather was hot during the day and love how they use all eco friendly bottles in the resort.

Food was great with choice of Asian and Western cuisine.
As for diving, we had nothing but praise for the whole team in Kalimaya. They took such a good care of us and making sure the diving trip was a memorable one.
From the manager, Adjie and Taylor, Jimmy the local dive guide and the boat kru (Habibie and Iskandar), they all did a wonderful job and showing us amazing diving spots in Sumbawa with amazing surface interval spot too.
Make sure you visit pink beach during your trip here.
Diving was excellent and you had a sense of total safe and peace with these highly expereinced kru.

It was amazing stay in Kalimaya. One thing that you need to be prepared is cell phone connection. If you use other than Telkomsel provider, then you won't get any signal there.
It does not mean a bad thing too since you can have time to recharge and disconnect for a while.

Again thank you Kalimaya for amazing trip and stay.
Kalimaya is truly a gem in Sumbawa. Nothing but praise for the whole team there who took such a good care of us during our stay.

Terima kasih

Everything in the resort was smooth flowing and the managers (Taylor and Aji) really made sure everything was carefree for myself and all i needed to do was jump in the water and relax.

The boat crew, Capt Habibie and Guide Jimmy were great fun and made sure i had a great time on the boat and underwater at all times.
Food was great, different menu every day when i stayed there, kitchen ladies were always smily and friendly. Nothing more i could say other then it was a perfect getaway, especially during these special times.

Just enjoyed a lovely stay here, it’s truly the place to get away from it all. The house reef is stunning, the rooms are bright and simple with comfortable beds... combined with the waves gently lapping the beach I slept better than ever.
The food was great with a nice restaurant setting overlooking the pool and sea. Added to the location the relaxed and friendly vibe created by Taylor and Aji made this a place that you just don’t want to leave... five stars and I hope to make it back some day!

I travel & dive a lot and Kalimaya definitely hit all the right spots. Diving there is great (and well organized) - the night dives at black sand were among the best ones I've done in recent years. The resort is very lovely, food good - really no downsides. If you're like me and need to stay connected, make sure to bring phone with Telkomsel - it's possible to get ok internet speed at the right spot.

I went to Kalimay for diving.
The resort is beautiful on its own white sand beach with pretty and comfy bungalows.
Food was good and diving great. Not too many big fishes as there are many fisherman but many cold nudibranches and critters + many sharks.
Had a great time there and the people are super friendly

We spent 3 nights in this fantastic hotel. The food was amazing, the manager Aji and his team were wonderful. We went also diving with them on Gili Banta. We saw beautiful Mantas and the diving team was really professional. I warmly recommend this place and I will definitely come back.

Kalimaya joins the ranks of our favourite dive destinations. The Resort offers everything we value in a dive holiday.
The staff, from owners, Lauren and Eric, to the gardeners were all incredibly friendly and helpful.
The managers, Tegan and Stu are wonderful, always on hand to ensure every aspect of the stay goes smoothly.
We specially enjoyed their company at the communal dining area.

The food was outstanding, mostly very tasty Indonesian based, we really looked forward to each meal. Dining room staff and chef are to be congratulated. As is common in boutique dive resorts the dining is at communal tables, where we enjoyed excellent company from the small group of divers staying.

The bungalow rooms are very comfortable, great beds, great bathroom facilities , amazing private view out to sea, amazing sunrise.

Diving! This is what we came for. Kalimaya has a fantastic range of dive sites, including pelagic, macro and also interesting underwater terrain. We added several new nudies to our collection, saw many frog fish, mantas, many other species, several new to us, even after 6 years of dive holidays in Indonesia. Visibility was generally excellent, water temp. 28 deg mostly - very pleasant for us. Unfortunately the last days were quite windy, but Tegan and Stu did a great job placing us on sheltered sites that were still excellent. “Ilhams Surprise” rates in our top 20 muck dives after over 30 years diving.
Safety was always stressed by the staff without be suffocating, good balance.
Kalimaya’s dive centre, dive boats and staff and routines make the diving really smooth and fun.

Overall, can’t fault the operation of Kalimaya from airport pickup to drop off. We had a fantastic dive holiday and will return.

If you want to go on holiday, where no one else goes: this is the spot!
This resort is far away from any tourists. All the bungalows are clever designed and beautifully finished. You wake up, as if you where the only one directly on the beach. The pool is great too.
Diving is phenomenal, as you dive the west side of Komodo with Mantas, sharks, Napoleons, snakes, most amazing reefs and stunning macro life. Some trips go to a close by volcano. In the afternoon and for night-dives you can dive the house-reef, which is crawling with octopus, nudies, crabs, shrimps, frogfish and all other sorts of aliens.
Food is served for breakfast, lunch and dinner and you can have coffee and tea and cookies all day long. It's really tasty and always freshly cooked with local ingredients.

If you are looking for a getaway far far from other tourists, with fantastic diving, and no worries about looking at your phone or emails (because you do barely have any phone connection). This is the spot!

Just dive eat sleep repeat - same like being on a liveaboard, just better.

In a world that constantly evolves it gets harder and harder to go to places where not many others have been before you. Kalimaya is a destination where until now you will find your expectations fulfilled. Whilst already Bima introduce itself as almost untouched by tourism it will get more serious at Sape. Where when you one and a half hours later finally arrived at the retreat you are cut off from your former constraints. At the moment there are 10 Bungalows facing the sea and providing an exclusive view to the morning sunrise and two boats which are sufficient when the retreat is only partly complete, but also in conditions when sea is bumpy a bigger boat would mean more comfort. The new building hosting the dive Center has just opened and there is abundant space to clean and store cameras and equipment. The retreat has developed to a tropical green garden containing bananas, papayas, bougainvillea and lots of lemongrass, due to the never-ending care of Stu and Tegan, the two managers who devote themselves to provide everybody a good time. Rio and Aldi behind the bar will always be at service to serve your demands and the cook must have been fallen in love with French desserts, which means that you will get ile flottant, moelleux au chocolat, crème caramel or crème brullée. We did come for diving of course, but live is far more than that and if your belly is satisfied, you are easier with yourself and your company. Not to forget that there is always a veggie option available and afternoon cake.
Now diving is awesome! The second day we had during forty minutes seven mantas around us, there is an abundance of corals and many nudies that we have spotted for the first time. The diversity of dive sites is great from coral gardens, volcanic muck, walls and the guides choose the sites according to the tidal situation. We have had sharks, turtles and Barracudas during our dives and it is true, there is a Rhinopia at the house reef, which to find is the specialty of our guide Ilham. The scenery above water is terrific as well as there are uninhabited islands, the active Sangean volcano and finally Komodo with its dragons that we have visited during a surface interval. Water temperatures changed from 28 to 24°Celcius, Visibility at the house reef was best during the morning, but this may depend on the season and weather.
As I had to stay off the water for a couple of days, I enjoyed the pool, the view and appreciated the support by Tegan and Stu on how to make my day. We really enjoyed our stay and wishing Kalimaya all the best for the future!

Upon arriving the first thing you notice is the lush tropical garden. Banana trees, papaya plants, palms and flowers everywhere. The bungalows are all new and clean. Cold aircon and hot water, plenty of outlets for charging, comfortable mattresses and duvets. Everything you need in a room plus the VIEW! While every room had heavy drapes to cover the front windows, if you choose to leave them open you would not be disappointed by the gentle sunrise over the sea wakeup call. There were plenty of spots to relax by the pool or in private beach barugas.
Food... never went hungry. I loved that breakfast was plated and made to order. You can pick and choose as you like, be it healthy fruits up to a full english. Each meal was a new delicious treat. The chocolate desserts were my favorite.
Staff were attentive and friendly. They made great efforts to remember my name and how I liked my coffee, a small detail that makes a big differnce!
DIVING! A true adventure. I've been diving in Komodo for years so it was on my bucketlist to get to the far away places unreachable from Flores. Komodo is famous for its diversity, but being so large most operators only go to the 'popular' places, leaving the vast majority of the park untouched. Diving some of these never before seen places was the highlight of my trip and didn't disappoint. Mantas, rhinopias, sharks, frogfish.. prepare to bring all your camera lenses!
This holiday is one I won't soon forget. Im already planning for my next visit and excited to see how the new dive shop and camera room turn out.
Thanks for a fantastic time!
