This hotel has always been on my list of “must experience” list since reading about it back in 2015. I have been know to create itineraries with destination hotels in mind and our stop here at L’AND was one of those. Unfortunately I was obviously a bit too late. Maybe it was Covid, maybe too much attention and money is being spent on the villas they are building to sell to weekenders from Lisbon but what a shame to see what it obviously once was and how they’ve let it go. The staff is overworked and few have the zest they need to be working at a R&C hotel. Yes there was a letter in the room about the construction (of new villas for sale) and that they plan of doing something (sometime ? ) abound the grounds and landscaping but it was actually sad to see how they have let the place go. Can’t blame housekeeping for worn furniture cracked, soiled walls but I did leave two big X s on the shade of the light fixture over the dining table in our suite. The hotel needs a serious freshening up. The restaurant was our most expensive meal of our 3 week road trip (we have 10 more days to go). And the o my night we’ve ever gone to bed hungry since being in Portugal. It was More expensive than every other first night meal at all the other 5 star hotels we’ve stayed at in Lisbon, Porto, duoro valley or Manteigas.Breakfast buffet was fine with a single chef making excellent special orders all by herself. So, in summary, the suite layout is fine - roomy for sure. Never used the retractable Skylight that I thought was a cool idea when booking or the outdoor fire pit or tub. The indoor pool was very cool looking but seemed dirty. The lake and eco trail were surrounded by weeds and brush. The highlight was the young overworked waitperson who attended to the outdoor restaurant it seemed all on her own (with some help from the main dining room.) She must put miles in every day. Tending bar taking orders running to the kitchen - wish I caught her name. We were there for three nights - I can’t recommend L’AND to any discerning traveler.

We were really looking forward to our one night there but it was a disappointment. When we arrived in late afternoon we were told the only dinner reservation available was at 9:30, too late after a full day of driving. When we went to the bar at 8:30 the restaurant was almost empty. Thankfully, we quickly got a table and the dinner and service were outstanding. Our room was very large but tired. Shower and toilet doors were difficult to open as they got stuck on the floor. The small outdoor tub/pool couldn’t fill up more than an inch. The main outdoor pool is difficult to use because the bottom is very dark and the drop off from the shallow end to the deep end is invisible. Thankfully, another guest warned us. There is no outdoor pool service, only bar service for the indoor pool which makes no sense given no one was using the indoor pool and every chair outdoors was full.

The room is spacious, well decorated, we were greeted with a bottle of wine, fruit and cake in the room. The view of the pool and restaurants is very beautiful.
I found the dark room bathroom and had nowhere to hang the towel. The shower was in the bathtub, which would not be necessary considering the size of the room.
Water, coffee and courtesy tea in the room.
In the heated pool tbm had water and courtesy apple.
Quiet place, good to rest.

This Hotel should NOT be on the Relais et Chateaux list! It is a bad sign when you get to the lobby and all the chairs are dirty and stained. It should be a bad sign when they advertise that they have Valet when they don't (especially when it raining). But, that's nothing, wait till you go to your suite! My husband and I chose a 2 bedroom suite and the disappointment kept on going when we got to it: the stairs were cracked, the walkway was full of mildew and I slipped and almost fell. The outdoor furniture wood the wood is all stained and the fabric faded, and the fire pit all rusted. Again, wait till you get inside: the whole floor was completely wet and we had to ask to be dried off. The TV was disconnected, didn't work. The dinning area has only 2 chairs ( remember: this is a 2 bedroom suite). The living room had no light: either ceiling or table light! There are no side tables and the coffee table is so small that you need to get up to use it( set a drink, for example). The rug has seen better days ! The bathroom was a situation in itself: the sink is kid's height: it was a little above my husband's knee. The rain shower is so low that he had to bend his head to be able to use it. The counter above the sink was all stained and scratched. To hook for your towels, no toilet paper holder !!!!!!. The bed was ok but the rug next to it was very dirty. It had an outlet for a TV on the wall, but no TV! The restaurant was another problem: the chairs are NOT dining room chairs: they are soooo heavy to pull up against the table: try to do that a few times during a breakfast buffet! Dinner food was ok, but we've never seen a waitress kneel on the floor, put her face against the table to talk about the food or get your order ! The sommelier was probably def: he was so loud that when he was talking we had to stop our conversation. On top of that babies crying and kids yelling: they don't have a separate room or time for kid's meals. The whole stay was so uncomfortable that we left after the first night.

Not sure where to begin. Our experience has not been good. The property and rooms are good. However, this place is not worth staying at even if was at 10th of what you pay. The service is awful, zero choice for vegetarians and the spa…? It really is very bad; dated, no hot water for the showers and instead of feeling uplifting experience when you go to a spa this just makes you feel you want to leave immediately.

For our first meal, we were charged different price to what is on the menu - they made us a simple risotto and a pasta dish (as vegetarians), we had no alcohol and our bill was c.£100 - so be aware.

We stayed at L'AND in 2014 when it was only a couple of years old. We thought we'd go back for a few days again this year. Unfortunately I neglected to read the TA reviews before booking. We were very disappointed.
We had the same room type we had previously (a skyview suite) which is a really nice room. Private and spacious. However it looked as if absolutely nothing had been done to it since it was built. The microwave didn't work, bulbs were burned out, paint chipped, furniture worn, etc. etc.
At the same time there is a lot of active construction going on to build even more accommodation units. Maybe they should look at upgrading the existing before embarking on new ones.
From a staff perspective, the front desk/concierge staff were outstanding, as was the sommelier. The poor housekeepers were so overworked one even tried to provide turndown service at 9:45 pm when we were already in bed. We felt so sorry for her. The food and beverage operations were either badly understaffed (Viajante at the Pool) or disorganized and disinterested in the dining room. Food quality ranged from poor at breakfast to acceptable at dinner. This is compounded by the fact that prices are at a Michelin Star level or beyond. The room service charge alone is $22 CDN. Outrageous. We understand the global labour issues, but other five stars have figured it out. We won't return until the owners hire professional hotel operators.

We stayed 2 nights at L'And Vineyard this past June and while on paper this looked to be one of the highlight of our trip, this was far from great...

The positive, the property and accommodations are generally nice, well appointed and can give you a feeling of luxury. The main building in particular is gorgeous.

The reality however is that everything else is pretty much lacking. Service is terrible, everything is poorly maintained, several things are not well thought out like the private pool being disgustingly dirty in our villa.

The restaurant at this property was by far the single worst dining experience we had in our entire Portugal trip. It was comically bad, the food was absolutely terrible, the servers had no clue what do do and finally it was so overpriced we could only laugh about it. We initially had reservations for both nights and we cancelled the second night to just have cheese and charcuterie in our room...

The property overall seems to be in construction so there was also early construction work near our room. At night, there are no lights so if you are trying to find your way back to your villa from the main building, be prepared for some adventure...

So lots of potential here to be honest but it seems to be poorly managed with staff that don't care and management that doesn't get what luxury mean. We will not return.

The biggest problem of this hotel is lack of professional staff and very poor service, which is also what makes it anything but a luxury hotel that it tries to be.
The architecture and design of the buildings as well as the interior is absolutely stunning. The public spaces and the rooms are beautiful and comfortable. We had a room for four adults with two bedrooms and a large living room area with a big terrace and a fireplace.
The restaurant was great and there even the service was good. Breakfast was delicious yet service was quite inconsistent which again implies to staff that were surely trying their best but again, it lacked consistency.
However, any other service, cleanliness of the pool, towels, sun loungers and room service were absolutely horrible. It was clear that the staff were doing their parts, each their own specific tasks and nobody oversaw the big picture so it just felt sloppy. It took an hour and a half to get dinner from room service and two hours to get the fireplace lit, among a long list of other things.
A note to management - train your staff to meet international hospitality standards and make sure everything runs smoothly instead of relying on a pretty facade.
Here you basically pay for the nice architecture and design, don't expect this hotel to meet any international luxury hotel standards. Most mid-range hotels are more professional than this one, unfortunately.

We went to celebrate an important date and could not have chosen a better place! L’and brings together a luxurious space with all the amenities and details combined with a charming setting that makes us feel like living a magical experience!
In addition to the facilities thought to the detail, the employees are helpful, attentive and professional improving the entire experience! I retain the quality of the products as a whole! The personal care products available are amazing.
When it comes to food and beverages, L’ and presents its customers with an unparalleled variety and quality. I highlight the incredible breakfast at the disposal of all guests with fresh and regional products of the highest quality. I can't help but mention the Dining Dinner at the Restaurant Map that takes us on an incredible journey of flavors through the talent of Chef David Jesus led in the room by Luis Mira who accompanies the service with a delicious explanation about the flavors presented.
It is no doubt to go back...I recommend the sky view suite because seeing the stars in the Alentejo sky is magical!

A lot of positives, two negatives.

I will start with positives: very clean resort, nice vibe, nice big suites, a nice welcome with a wine and fresh squished orange juice, great breakfast, nice pool and small lake with paddles.

Two small negatives that we experienced: our suite was 30 minutes late then the check in time and as we had a long trip from Spain we really needed it in time. Also the pool towels were not available for an hour, we have asked , waited for a long time and then I needed to go and ask once again in a more „demanding” way that I do not like, however then it took 3 minutes to get the towels. It is always nicer if you can sort those things effectively.

Besides those two small issues, a hotel that I would really recommend.

Perhaps is a little late but as far as I know, only the SPA pool is heated, contact the hotel for more information. It depends a lot, in Portugal in late September is not that much hot (like summer’s 30ºC, is normally lower than that), the interior regions are always hotter but still, check the average whether is the best advice I can give.
