La Vieille Cheminée is located in Chamarel – a small village nested high in the mountains that dominate the south-western coast of Mauritius. 15 mins away from the beach, we produce tropical vegetables, fruits and compost from sustainable farming. We invite you to discover our tropical farm, enjoy walks or horse rides while staying in one of our cosy and well equipped lodges. We offer B&B and self-catering stays. You can pre-order meals or buy basic groceries from our reception.

Had a wonderful horse riding tour and practice. It was only me and the teacher who was very experienced and explained very precise. The areal is so nice. Definitely worth the money 2000 MRU for one our. We were just guest and didn’t stay in an accommodation.

La Vieille Cheminee is the place to simply be. Nature lovers, you will fall in love with the place. Do not expect a luxury or spotless place. It is a SIMPLE and raw place, with dedicated people, ready to assist you with a smile and open heart. If you need to catch up with yourself and get back on track, it is the place to be. If you want to be far away from "the fast and hectic life", do not even ask yourself, just book it; you will not regret this adventure. They have activities, to connect with nature (farm, cottage etc..). Or you can just sit back, relax and meditate... Please do not expect technology, wifi, tv etc.. It is not the place for you. But if you wish to make a cure, then GO FOR IT! If you however need wifi, they do provide the facilities on extra cost in the lodges, otherwise you may walk to the front desk kiosk where you have Wifi connection... so do not panic! I loved the morning climate, with the birds singings. The fresh air, and the employees walking around with the breakfast baskets. I had the chance to stay over at Le Perchoir. WOW! I stayed before in the 3 bedroom house not far from the Reception area, but Le Perchoir - has been for myself and my fiance a delightful stay. Chimney with wood, to warm you up at night, barbecue facilities, a small fully equipped kitchen...but we ordered food and it was just marvellous. The meals are prepared with dedication and love. A big thank you to all of you, from the wood cutter, to the gardener, to the Receptionist, the housekeeper and Christelle who really assisted us prior our arrival for our stay. Missing you already and I can't wait to get back! Dav and Julie

We stayed for 2 nights in “The Cabanne” and it was super nice! It’s like a house, fully equiped including barbeque and chimenee, really cozy. We cooked dinner both nights in the barbeque and it was delicious. The sorroundings are one of the most beautiful things we have seen in Mauritius in our 10 day stay. The views from the swimming pool during the sunset are crazy. Also, the owners and the service are really nice and friendly. Guillaume, one of the owners, recommended us a lot of things to do in our free time and, after having done them, I can confirm they were really good recommendations, especially the Ebony Forest which is 5 min drive from the house. I really recommend staying here if you are looking to disconnect and you enjoy being in contact with nature.

We had an amazing time at la vieille cheminée and it is exactly what we are looking for. For us this place is more precious than a 5star-hotel on the beach. The owners thought of everything and know a lot about hospitality. The little creole houses where you will stay are charming and well decorated, they are very comfortable and super cozy. Each of them have a little chimney and we enjoyed it every night. The property is on a very big land and you have different trails you can do, the longest one is 6.8km, they also do farming (fruits and veg) and they make compost... You can do horse riding and visit the farm. You are also close to one of the best beach of mauritius, le morne... Hope you will enjoy this place as much as we did :). It's an hidden gem :)
