Chalets Chamarel is often described as an enchanting retreat, where the serene atmosphere and beautifully decorated rooms create a romantic and tranquil experience. Nestled in a secluded, picturesque setting with breathtaking ocean and mountain views, the chalets offer immaculately clean and spacious accommodations. Guests commend the friendly and attentive staff and appreciate the value of the half-board option. While there are some mentions of surcharges and a specific issue with towel cleanliness, the overall comfort, swimming, and dining amenities contribute to a memorable stay.

We stayed there four days, unfortunately too short for us, but unforgettable beautiful. Our Charlet house was very nice and very big the bed was very comfortable, air conditioning was available and the wifi was okay we had booked half board, the breakfast buffet was small but fine and the dinner was à la carte super delicious with super nice service the facility is very nicely planted with flowers and we had a dream view of the mountain le morne brabant and the sea. Small pool available with towels ,only no umbrellas available. The complex is high on the mountain you should best drive up with a jeep we had rented before , but it goes even with a normal car just please careful parking was available there. We recommend this hotel complex 100%.

At the end of my stay to Mayotte, Réunion and Mauritius, this became the last property to stay at and, by a thick margin, the best. Located just next to the 7 Colored Earth attraction (you can enter when they open to beat crowds), the chalets sit on a rim that gives views of mountain peaks, Le Morne and the ocean on both the East and West side so each room has a double view. Generously sized and impeccably clean, the chalets are really nicely designed and equipped. Your own porch on the West side, and a balcony on the East side. Housekeeping is stellar, also providing turndown service which is becoming so rare after the pandemic. Since it’s a hilly drive, I was glad to have the half-board plan included. A la carte dinner service was the nicest during this trip, so was breakfast and the buffet selection. If you’re lucky enough to have Ms. Dalida as your manager on duty/maitre’d, you’ll have an impeccable stay. Her devotion to guest satisfaction and passion for her job is exemplary. I was assigned chalet no. 2 and liked its secluded position. Feel I want to come back and stay again.

Do yourself a favor... Book for at least 2 or more nights!

The hotel is located on top of the mountain This no doubt is the most unique hotel with the best views possible in Mauritius. The road that goes up the mountain till Ebony Forest is well paved (though small) but easy to drive. The 1.5 km stretch from Ebony Forest till the chalet is small and paved in a way that you can drive on the paved section (see photo).
Once you are at the hotel, you have ample place to park your car. The staff are very polite, humble and welcoming. They gave us welcome drinks and cold towel on arrival. We came around 1:40 p.m. and the room WaS ready We were staying only for one night and were lucky to get upgraded to the suite.
All the chalets have breathtaking views. The pictures do not do any justice. Immediately we regretted that we should have booked for at least 2-3 nights. The experience to stay on top of the mountain was absolutely amazing. The chalet was very nice and clean and had complimentary tea, coffee, kettle and mini fridge.

The chalets are well spaced apart to give privacy. The path that leads to restaurant is hilly and we can understand for elderly that have knee problems or use assistance is not easy, but understand that you are on the top of a hilly mountain.
The dinner is a la carte, and you get to choose one starter, one main course and one sweet dish. Some dishes and extra surcharge. Breakfast was simple but enough for us including cooked to order eggs.
The main reason to stay in this wonderful place would be the views. It's just mesmerizing and relaxing. If you are looking for extravagant dining, or resort type facilities and are not interested in the experience then probably this is not a place for you.
We really regretted that we were put off by some negative reviews regarding insects etc. and did not book for more than one night. We did not have any issues with insects inside the room. But again being in
nature one would expect creatures of nature!

Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you for your thoughtful and detailed review! We’re so glad to hear you had such a positive experience and enjoyed the stunning views from your chalet. We completely agree—the natural beauty of our location truly has to be seen to be believed, and it’s great that you were able to soak in the breathtaking surroundings during your stay. We're also happy that you felt welcomed by our team and had a smooth and comfortable experience, from the welcome drinks to the chalet amenities. We understand that the hilly paths may not be ideal for everyone, but we're glad it didn’t affect your overall experience. Your kind words about the dining and the peaceful, nature-filled atmosphere mean a lot to us. We truly hope you’ll return for a longer stay next time—you’ll have even more time to relax and enjoy all that this special place has to offer! Thanks again for sharing your experience, and we’d love to welcome you back for a longer, more leisurely visit in the future! Warm regards, The Management

Came here as part of a honeymoon trip and stayed for 5 days. Ideally I think probably 4 days is as much as you want in order to explore the full area. Staff are so accommodating. The food is fantastic every evening and they even offer tea and coffee and cake between 4:00 and 5:00 in the afternoon which is included. Drinks also so incredibly reasonable, mini bar in room and water replaced daily and the staff cannot do to make you feel like you're on holiday and to relax. I would like to thank everybody from security, cleaning, reception and all staff behind the bar and restaurant area for such a fantastic stay. Moving on to the accommodation. It is in the most beautiful spots you could imagine. The chalet itself has everything that you could possibly need and the 360 views are absolutely idyllic. Please ignore any reviews regarding roads being dodgy they are not. What do you expect when trying to get to such a remote location? It's just a bit of the beaten track but we drove to and down it daily. This really is an absolute unique gem. And the flowers, special touches on our honeymoon will remain forever.

Tourism tips:
Coloured sands luckily we got in for free. Not worth paying or visiting.
Ebony forest do visit - lovely reprieve of a cafe with beautiful views half way round
The chalet Chameral has a vast menu but also offer lunch
Bring deet although you can eat inside but why would you want to?

The most beautiful surroundings and sea views. Exceptional courtesy from the staff from arrival to departure. The rooms were made ready early on our arrival so that we could relax rest and unwind when we needed it most. And absolutely everyone smiled at us: the ground staff, the housekeepers and the servers in the restaurant.

The location is fabulous with views of the lagoon and Morne BRABANT
Be careful, the road which provides access to the chalets is not a long, quiet river as it is bumpy once you take the fork just before ''The land of 7 colors''
The room is very beautiful and comfortable
Very pleasant staff
Half board is offered in a very beautiful location next to the infinity pool.
Very very special mention for Kertish who is a very pleasant and very professional person in addition to being dedicated to her clients.
It was thanks to him that we had a very pleasant stay.
A small downside for half-board
The menu is not changed regularly which does not give enough choice if you stay 6 nights like us! There are meals for half board and paid meals which means that if you stay more than three nights you have seen what is on offer and therefore you have no other alternative than to switch to the paid meals which is no longer half board included in the initial price….
In an exceptional situation, exceptional treatment, it would have been very appreciable if we were offered free of charge to be able to enjoy all the dishes on the menu but this was not offered….

Beautiful setting overlooking the bay and La Morne. Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and made our stay very memorable.
The hotel is at the top of a very steep single track road and is walkable to the nearby Geopark as long as you don’t mind a slight trek. The alternate is to hire a driver for 1/2 day or full day (~£60-80).
The menu at dinner was fairly limited unless willing to pay a surcharge although this was expected given how remote the location is.
Overall we had a lovely time and would recommend if looking for a quiet and beautiful location to explore Chamarel.

This was our second visit, we came here last year. There have been changes, some good and some not so good, there is also a different manager.
The dinner menu has been extended but nearly 50% have supplements which is annoying when it's half board. There is nothing to tempt you to stay in the restaurant for a cocktail or two after dinner, no ambient lighting, no soft music. The dishes served are inconsistent, we had the steak with veg and mash one night and it was fantastic, we had it again a few days later and there were two small pieces of veg and a spoonful of something that looked like white sauce which was the mashed potato, very disappointing.
We had a problem on the day after we arrived, no hot water. The boiler was broken. Dalida was amazing, she gave us the key to another chalet so we could shower. She moved us to another chalet as soon as it came empty the same afternoon with the option of staying it it for the rest of our holiday(we were staying for 10 days)or to move back to chalet 3 when and if the new boiler had been installed. We did move back to chalet 3 helped by Anisha and her team and Vanusha. When the new boiler was being installed the manager was stood watching, as were we, he never spoke to us, let alone apologise, even though he knew we were there.
The manager never spoke to anyone either at breakfast or at dinner, if he was there at all. If Dalida was on duty she had a conversation with every guest without fail. She should be promoted to manager with Vanusha as assistant. The manager last year, Mr Manav was excellent but the one this year is letting everyone down, including the staff.
After saying all that it is an amazing place, the sunsets and sunrises, the wildlife and the views are out of this world.
The staff are fabulous. Anisha and her housekeeping team are excellent, the gardens are immaculate and front of house are exceptional.

What a fabulous location, 11 chalets perched on a hill overlooking the Indian Ocean and the Le Morne peninsula. All can be considered as quite private as there is a fair distance between each one. The chalets are well equipped, A/C, toiletries, towels, hair dryer next to a mirror (for the ladies), a safe, minibar etc etc. Also, a restaurant on site with outdoor seating to enjoy the fabulous views. All members of staff were very welcoming, efficient, and helpful with advice on where to go and arranging transport if needed. The chalets are isolated and can be considered as retreats, being off the beaten track so, ideally, they would be mostly suitable for nature and away from the madding crowd lovers. However, the Ebony Forest National Park is just 1.5 km away and the Chamarel Waterfall is 3.1km away, passing the 7 Coloured Earth Geopark along the way. The Black River Gorge N.P. is about a 30 mins drive and is certainly worth a visit as there are walks available for all abilities. There are multiple traditional food eateries in the village of Chamarel which is 6km away. However, the beach at Le Morne is not too far away by car. A word a caution is that the footpath that leads down to Le Gaulette village (1.7km) is very steep and not for the faint hearted. As you can tell, I certainly enjoyed my week at the chalets and therefore would highly recommend.

What a wonderful stay. We had 2 nights over the last weekend in September after a long flight to Mauritius. The welcome was warm and friendly with beautiful cocktails in a glorious setting. Our room was perfect with a sunrise on one balcony and a sunset on the other. The bed was large and very comfortable so we slept very well. The shower is spot on high pressure and lots of hot water. The room was huge.
The food on half board was excellent all freshly cooked and just as requested. My husband is gluten intolerant and the chefs Ravi and Elvira went above and beyond to ensure he had beautiful food even making him special deserts that made me very jealous 😆.
The staff are excellent they really take care of your every need. Arresh on reception organised a taxi with our driver Irshad who had a great deal of knowledge and took us to taste rum, tea and visit the local waterfalls and beauty spots. Well worth doing. Vanusha on reception also ensured we had everything we needed as cases were ferried around by the team. We didn't need to carry anything.
A special thanks to the restaurant team Chanesh, Vedna and Prishty for excellent service. Nothing was too much trouble and always with a smile.
Mr Dajeec was on hand to ensure his team were perfect and they were.
I would highly recommend a stay here an extra day would have been perfect. Absolute paradise.

Hi Andy, There are paths leading up to Chalets Chamarel. It's located inside the compound of 7 Colored Earths; simply follow the signs until you reach the Chalets. Just keep in mind it's a forest road so it's not paved.
