In March 2019 with my wife and daughter spent a week at the Hotel Castor. Named after one of the 4000 meter peaks up the valley on the Swiss border, this hotel is located a few blocks from the Champoluc ski lifts. Our room was comfortable with a view out the front southerly

Americans and Europeans should remember the song We Are Family by Sister Sledge from 1979. That song title embodies the Hotel Castor in Champoluc Italy’s Aosta Valley. Our first communication and outreach to the hotel was establishing a reservation with multi lingual concierges

Ciao Bruce, Spencer, Caren, Chris & family, we are truly overwhelmed at your wonderful review of your stay with us at our Hotel Castor. We have passed on your kind words to all our staff, which were very much appreciated. You and your family clearly enjoy excellence, (as sharing with you a selection of our best wines each evening gave testimony!) and it was a pleasure to see you all completely relax as a family and enjoy our cosy hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed your company. Lovely to know that you feel adopted by us... a very warm welcome to our family! Indeed a sad "Arrivederci". We very much look forward to greeting you all again at our Hotel Castor in the not too distant future. Warm regards, Herman, Beatrice, family & staff PS "We Are Family"... great song.... couldn't put it better!...

We booked the Hotel Castor via Inghams after doing a lot of research in to where to ski at half term. We usually go to France and enjoy the chalet experience and were looking for something family friendly, not too expensive and not too stuffy in a hotel. This was our first

Ciao Flora. Thank you so much for your lovely review and very kind words. You describe your holiday experience exactly as we hope you and all our guests would enjoy their time here with us. So happy you participated and enjoyed our wine tasting evening... I always think it's starts the week off well and allow you to make "informed choices" about your wine with your evening meal... as you say, with over 160 labels there's a lot to choose from! The afternoon at the Monterosa spa also makes the holiday much more relaxing. The summer is beautiful, sunshine, greenery, flowers, mountain hikes, MTB if you're feeling athletic!... Jazz in the Garden the first week in August combined with an aperitif and local wines... what more could we offer?? I hope you and James are well and we look forward to welcoming you again to our Hotel Castor in the not too distant future. Warm regards. Herman

Nice hotell with friendly, service-minded staff and family feeling. Its a shame that the dinner ruin the whole experience. Starter and Main corse is really bad. Talked to the manager (Herman) and he might be good in many things but setting up a menue is not one of expert

Buonasera - thank you for your review which is most important to us. Thank you also for your kind words regarding our excellent staff (we have passed on your comments) and our friendly home from home family atmosphere of which you both were a welcome part last week. And thanks for talking to me about your experiences... as you said, you'd prefer to talk to the management rather that writing your individual opinion on the internet. I felt that you were satisfied with our mutual discussion at the time, however as you are, in fact, interested in publicizing your opinion, I am very happy to continue with you here. Our Hotel Castor is one the most historic hotels in Champoluc with 100% Italian roots. Whilst I will not deny my English heritage, I married into a 100% Italian family and have three Italian children (the 5th generation at our hotel) and an Italian dog. My professional background is Architecture (and music) and I do of course, strongly influence many aspects of our hotel, including the continuing renovation works, musical events and other activities and our extensive Italian wine list (being a professionally qualified Italian Sommelier). However despite over 20 years experience as an hotelier alongside my Italian wife, my expertise, as you quite rightly say, is not in the kitchen, for which I am delighted to say we have three highly recommended Italian chefs who prepare our 100% Italian/Valdostanan menu each day, with our full approval. Your comments to me related to just three dishes with which you were not satisfied. I defend your entitlement to your opinion however, having personally very much enjoyed all three dishes concerned and also received many many compliments from other guests for our menu, I raise some doubt as to the validity of your thoughts. Your implication that our menu is not 100% Italian, adds to these doubts. I'm sorry that you felt the need to eat out on your last night and I do hope you enjoyed your Italian meal. Apart from these three (delicious) dishes, our appetizing array of buffet starters, our interesting choice of 3 first and second courses including vegetarian options, our selection of over 160 Italian wine labels to choose from and to finish, one of our pastry chef's fine Italian desserts with a perfect glass of Moscato d'Asti offered by our staff, were evidently much appreciated by yourselves. I can’t recall whether you sampled our “a-la-carte” menu available to our guests for a small supplement? It would seem that, all things considered, our restaurant and all other aspects of our hotel, were clearly to your satisfaction. As such, I thank you for giving me this opportunity to reconfirm and clarify further our conversation and we look forward to welcoming you both once again to our historic Hotel Castor some time in the not too distant future. Warm regards Herman
