Detailed Reviews
we stayed in presidential villa, three couples. Good value for $1500 a night. Well located near Muri, close to supermarkets , liquor shops and restaurants. The beach is stunning ( sand and water clairty) until you hit the water . its unfortunately not really suitable for easy swimming from the shore due to the mostly coral and rock bottom once you hit the water. In saying that you can snorkel past that are easily enough at full tide and there are haps of kayaks. Villa is right on the beach withe morning sun beach side and afternoon sun pool side.
The villa itself is huge and well appointed . Outside pool area , bbq etc is very cool. The three rooms are very different . One upstairs is teh size of a small football field. one downstairs is pretty big as well . the third is very small. the two rooms downstairs dont have an ensuite but the bathroom there and upstairs is very very big.
Our single biggest issue with the villa is that it has huge stereo speakers, speakers outside but zero way to connect to them. No auxillary cords, no bluetooth dongle etc. Thought that was kind of weird in 2021.
That said we loved teh villa , was great value for money for three couples considering the location and size of the place. we would most definately go back - with a portable speaker!

Our family of 5 stayed for 8 nights in the Presidential Villa at Te Manava in July 2021. Our Villa was spacious and comfortable. The inner courtyard was beautifully planted & maintained and was such a pleasure to be in. Inside there are two very large and spacious bedrooms. The upstairs Master has a large en suite with both a rain shower and a tub with a view of the lagoon. Downstairs you have a large bedroom and one smaller bedroom that our teen used. These share a large bathroom. The bed in that smaller bedroom wasn't as comfortable as the other two large beds, but it was fine for a teen or child. Te Manava provides snorkel masks and kayaks for you to explore Muri lagoon, which we utilised daily. Our private pool was large, clean, and the temperature was perfect for us. The villa also has a nice covered outdoor dining BBQ area that we also took advantage of. The staff were friendly and on hand when needed. There is no free wifi and limited TV offerings, but we didn't come for wifi & TV. We came for the sun & sand, the fresh daily coconut water, the sound of the breeze through the palm trees. It was comfortable and clean. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

Our party of 6 stayed in villa 6 for about a week. The villa has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, full kitchen, dining room, private lounge pool and AMAZING beach view. The place was so quiet and peaceful. Jane and Teina are incredibly kind and personable hosts, ask them for any recommendations and they come through with the best tips! This place is seriously paradise on earth. Not one thing I would change about the place.

We are a family of four & have recently returned from our second week-long stay at Te Manava. We stayed in the 2bed Ultimate Beachfront Villas both times (Villa 1 & 2). We again had an excellent stay, despite the rather inclement weather Rarotonga was experiencing at the time. We love everything about this property. The villas are HUGE with more than enough space for everyone and are luxurious and very well appointed. Everything that you could possibly need for your stay is in the villa. I absolutely love the fact the villa has a dryer, which was extremely useful for kids damp towels etc. The staff were all excellent, especially Dan. My young kids also absolutely loved Korai (I hope this spelling is correct?) who everyday spent time on the beach chatting to them, cracking coconuts open for them, helping them find crabs etc. Thanks Korai & Dan! The beach out front is stunning with nice sand for the kids to play in & the snorkelling at high tide is excellent. The resort is well located with a dairy/liquor store, coffee cart & takeaways across the road plus lots of restaurants nearby. Overall, we all had a fabulous time again & feel it was excellent value for money. This has to be one of the best in Rarotonga. We will hopefully be back again next year!

My husband and I recently stayed at Te Manava and absolutely loved it. Infact, so much so, that we found it hard to leave. The Concierge, Gardeners, Cleaners and Spa staff were so kind and friendly and treated us as though we were one of their family. The facilities were clean, quiet, safe and well worth the 5-star review. Beach access and amenities were within 1 min walk from our unit and every day we stayed, we felt like we were in paradise. Te Manava provided access to a sister property for bar and restaurant meals, but if you didn’t feel like going out, Te Manava is handy to a local store, which also sells alcohol, and a fish n chip shop. The rooms are beautiful. The Heat/Cool pump works perfectly and keeps you lovely and cool on the warm days. We felt very safe - well off the street and you have two locked doors within the unit for additional safety. In saying that though, we never felt unsafe at all. It only takes 10 mins to go out and explore on a flat road. Everything is very handy to Te Manava's location on Muri Beach. We would gladly stay at Te Manava again and highly recommend it to other travellers!!

Our family of 5 adults stayed for a week in the Presidential Villa in Jan/Feb 22. The villa was spacious with excellent water pressure in the showers, great amenities in the kitchen and even had books to read in the dining room sideboard. The poolside are was great for sunbathing and the pool was a good temperature. Beautiful sea breezes on the beachside patio helped keep us cool along with the aircon through the villa. Great location with cafes and shops nearby. Would recommend.

We had the most wonderful stay at Te Manava where we spent a week in Villa 7, one of their two bedroom, two bath villas. There were four of us and the accommodations were beyond what we expected. They were impeccably clean and had all of the amenities that we could possibly need to enjoy our week on the beautiful island of Rarotonga. We loved having our own private pool and courtyard and all enjoyed lots of time in both. Having a full kitchen was also wonderful as we often had breakfast and/or lunch in our villa and then went out for dinner. In addition to the beautiful villa, we also enjoyed the wonderful amenities on property including the kayaks, bikes and snorkeling masks. They truly thought of everything.
We can't say enough good things about our hosts Teina & Jane. They were both so welcoming and never got weary of our many questions about things to do around the island. When you stay with them at Te Manava, they make you feel like family.
We are already planning our next trip back to Rarotonga and will definitely be going back to Te Manava. We can't say enough wonderful things about their beautiful villas or the beautiful island of Rarotonga. Thank you for hosting us!

Te Manava is a wonderful private villa stay with great options to enhance your experience in Rarotonga. Teina & Jane made our extended family stay uncomplicated & easy, they were on hand as we needed. The local amenities just across the road were fantastic from renting your car, getting few supplies for the fridge, stocking the pantry or dining out with burgers, pizza & beer! Our kids loved the beach access & spend most days exploring the area. Pacific Resort compliments Te Manava with kids club options and a great on the beach restaurant. We will be coming back, and soon!

We stayed at Te Manava with our two adult children and son-in-law so had Villa 9 which was a two storied 3 bedroom apartment. The upstairs bedroom had an ensuite which enabled the kids to have the two bedrooms and bathroom downstairs. The kitchen was fully equiped if we chose to cook our own meals. There was also a BBQ outside by the pool.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Nothing was ever too much trouble.
Definitely recommend booking a rental car to get around the island. There is a good bus service that goes clockwise and anti-clockwise around the island but good to have a car so you can move about the island at your leisure. Also recommend booking a rental car early. We needed a larger vehicle as we had 5 adults in our group. We managed to get one but I think that we were just lucky in being able to get one when we did.
The unit had a large fridge which was good if you are bringing food from NZ on the trip.

My wife and I, and our friends shared a 2 bedroom villa (#7) for 5 nights. It was everything we'd hoped it would be. The staff are exceptional - always pleasant and willing to help in any way they can. We used the 'shuttle' to and from the pacific resort several times and never had to wait for more than a few minutes. The private pool in the villa made the stay so relaxing and everything about the villa was very private.
A couple of suggestions (not criticisms) - my wife would have appreciated a full length mirror in the room (the only mirror was in the bathroom, and was high up for her). For me, the electric plugs were behind the bedside tables and it was difficult for us to plug things in.
Some notes about Rarotonga in general. It's beautiful, relaxed and operates on 'island time'. Nobody rushes anywhere. However, there were some inconveniences. Our American credit/debit cards were effectively unusable. When we tried them, the transmission timed out before the transaction could be completed. Fortunately we took enough cash with us. One shop even told us that they didn't accept American credit cards. There are a lot of stray dogs. The ones we came across were either friendly or disinterested in us. I was told that the Cook Island government is dealing with the problem.
Muri lagoon is amazing, but if you walk across to the island, try to avoid high tide if you can't swim. It's still possible, but a little unnerving if you are short.
We would recommend the Mai'i Kitchen across the road for an evening's food, drink and string band entertainment - we had a couple of great evenings there.

The area is superb for snorkelling either direct from the beaches or by the various boat trips which take you out closer to the surrounding reef. As a novice I went on of the boat trips organised by one of the resorts - I found it absolutely amazing just like a documentary unfolding around me.
