Past few years, I already visit Fujikawago 3 times. I try many hotel and AirBNB. And now I found this Family hotel is my greatest choice among all. They have a good pick up bus. The staff is very well welcoming when enterance lobby. The room is nice and clean with a big lobby showing a spectacular view to the valley and lake. The Onsen is very comfort and amazing view and silent night. They have a great bar you must try. The Bartender is friendly. And one more they have Electric bike to free rent. You can use it all the day to visit many place around (even go to inside village). Oh, they have a lot of book to read.
My wife and I stayed at Mizno hotel from the 6th Nov 2022 - 8th Nov 2022 for 2 nights. How we wished it could have been longer. Every morning when we woke up we were greeted by the magnificent views of Mount Fuji which easily rivaled any other tourist spot in the Lake kawaguichiko area. From the moment we checked in we were greeted with warm hospitality by the staff. We were offered some tea while getting the check in sorted and throughout our stay we were greeted whenever we left for sightseeing or came back. I rented a car to drive around the lake area and we left our keys at the reception in case they needed to shift the cars. When we returned to park I saw there were 3 staff standing outside the parking area to guide us and get our keys. What a thoughtful gesture. The hotel has an in house onsen which we used twice. It has an outdoor onsen(my preferred choice) with views of fuji on a clear day. This was prob the best stay in my japan trip since borders reopened and I can't wait to be back sometime soon with the rest of my family.…
The Mizno Hotel is a great choice for your Mt. Fuji excursion. The Hotel is on a hill and the terrace views from our room of the lake and Mt. Fuji are incredible. The staff was friendly, attentive and extremely helpful. The Authors Bar is a great spot to have a drink with interesting art work and pictures of old Hollywood actors on the walls. There's also a library and reading nooks. The photo of Maria Callas stumped us, but the bartender was kind enough to find out who she was from the owner and he mixed a good martini to boot. The hotel provides E-bikes free of charge, which is a fantastic service. We used them to cycle around the entirety of Lake Kawaguchi which is an experience we will never forget. The only knock which cost Mizno the fifth star was the uncomfortable mattress, which is past its prime, but after a day of walking and cycling you fall asleep pretty quickly. Unfortunately, we weren't able to use the Onsen, so we can't comment on that. They also provide shuttle service to and from the train station.…
Just finished a delightful two night visit. Have enjoyed iconic views from my Mt. Fuji facing balcony, watching the mountain reflection in the lake in the early morning. Food is splendid including the breakfasts and the kaiseki feast I enjoyed last night. Staff spoke English to explain the many courses to me. Shuffle service is available from the train station but also to and from restaurants in the town where I dined after the concierge made a reservation for me on my first night. I enjoyed two visits to the 2nd floor Onsen. The mineral water is clear and odorless. The rooftop bath which you pay extra for does not have mineral water. Having clear weather has been the star of the show since the views of Mt. Fuji are the main attraction, but the Misno ticks so many boxes in terms of decor, staff, food quality, onsen experience and views that I would not hesitate to recommend it to friends visiting Lake Kawaguchi.…
From the moment we arrived, greeted outside by hotel staff, to the shuttle bus ride back to Kawaguchi-ko station, we felt welcomed and very much at home at the Mizno. Talking to the proprietors, I discovered that although the hotel has been established for around 60 years, it was renovated around 5-6 years ago. It is obvious that a lot of thought went into the renovation; the hotel has a wide variety of artistic and interesting 'spaces', from the book-lined twin reading nooks on the first floor through the comfortable and numerous sofas - complete with complementary welcome drink - in the lobby through to the dedicated outdoor Mt Fuji-viewing terrace and rooftop outdoor bar, also with front-row sets to the majestic mountain and a very chill, laid-back vibe (there are even very soft and comfy individual 'hammock' style lounge chairs in a separate, quiet corner where small groups can relax and chat over drinks in relative privacy). Art pieces - paintings, prints, antique furniture - can be found on every floor throughout the hotel, making even the walk to the lift/up and down stairs interesting. With three members in our party, we chose a Japanese-style room which proved both spacious and comfy, complete with a front-on view of Mt Fuji (when it wasn't hiding behind clouds), a ceramic vase in the tokonoma, high-tech toilet in the bathroom, heavenly-smelling Maison Margiela ammenities and Ferrero Rocher pillow chocolates every night. The room also had its own pod coffee machine as well as tea-making facilities and a cotton yukata with obi and towel - carried in a charming wicker basket - was provided for each guest to use to go to the hotel onsen. Our room tariff included breakfast, of which two types - Japanese and Western - are available. We tried a different type each morning (the Western breakfast offers two different egg dish options) and they were all delicious as well as generous in terms of volume. If the weather is good, ask to be seated on the outside terrace which has great views over the lake. The hotel has bicycles for guests to use (for free!) at any time of the day or night, which we took advantage of to explore the west lake region (highly recommended: Yagizaki park and the Itchiku Kubota Art Museum); there is also a free shuttle bus that runs every half-hour in the morning, which was very handy for connecting with tours to other parts of Fuji Five-lakes area. At the Mizno, there are separate men's and women's onsens, as well as a private rooftop onsen (extra charge) but as the free onsens had both indoor baths and a rotenburo (outdoor bath), we didn't feel the need to pay extra for the rooftop bath. Hotel staff - whether at the front desk, restaurant, bar or driving - were friendly and responsive to our questions and requests. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough; we are already planning our next visit, hopefully during the winter when Mt Fuji is most clearly - and regularly - visible.…
My biggest regret was not booking more than 1 night. We was lucky enjough to arrive when the clouds were clearing and we ere treated to a 2 hour uninterrupted and sunny view of Mount Fuji. The view from our balcony was delightful and the onsen was quiet, clean and very relaxing. The food was superb throughout, the traditional Japanese dinner was one of the best meals we enjoyed and the westernised breakfast was delightful (and great for those that find some of the Japanese breakfast options a little challenging so early in the morning). We loved the lounge area, the fun and colourful object d'art, paintings and photographs displayed with the vast array of art and design books on offer along with the complimentary coffee. This place definately warrants a 2 night stay, not just for the hotel, but to sample the many things this area has available in general. Only complaint was the roof top bar service was a little on the cool (chilly) side, however the rest of the staff were warm and welcoming and professional. Would love to come back here! Don't hesitate booking....there are good reasons for the excellent reviews - this place is an absolute joy to stay in!…
We stayed 2 nights, and were so fortunate to have a clear day, for the most sublime views of Mt Fuji over the lake, take your photos early morning just magical. Loved the hotel, it felt very cosy, it’s like an old English hotel, with an eclectic art collection, comfortable leather lounges, great public rooms with open fires and lounges so you can sit and look at the view. The onsen is great, with the outdoor baths overlooking the Lake and Fuji. Convenient shuttle from station, you can arrange transfer by seeing staff in tourist office who will contact hotel, it only take a five minute drive.
Felt looked after from the time we pulled up into the car park to when we checked out. Waking up to a clear view of Mt Fuji was one of my highlights. The view of Mt Fuji and lake Kawaguchiko was phenomenal. Also had the best time at the bar with Sammy the bar manager! He’s a really sweet and wholesome person :) He made us a matcha cocktail that was off the menu called the ‘Sweet Sam Matcha’ (would recommend) 12/10 experience
We spent one night hear to get away form the Tokyo hustle and bustle. The hotel is located uphill a few hundred meters from the main road. The place has a great atmosphere and staff goes out of their way. We had a balcony room, which offers a great view and has all you may need. Private onsen on the rooftop is an absolute plus. Would certainly go back here if we need to get away from busy Tokyo!
After spending a busy week in Tokyo and Kyoto, we spent a few restful days at the Mizno Hotel. We were greeted in the parking lot and brought into the beautiful lobby. Beautiful paintings in the comfortable lobby awaited us. There is a gathering area with books and morning coffee. I love an older grand hotel and this checked many boxes. Our room was as advertised with an amazing view of Kawaguchiko and Mt. Fuji. Although Mt Fuji was hidden until the morning of our departure. Be sure to make reservations for the traditional Japanese dinner, kaiseki ,in their dining room. A multi course event that was not only pleasing to the eye but also the pallet. The French course was also delicious. We will return to this area again someday and we will stay again at the Mizno.
