Detailed Reviews
Visited from 2/15~2/16 with a buddy of mine. You are greeted with such high level of hospitality and professionalism upon check in one will definitely feel at home as soon as you step foot inside this ryokan. The room was fantastic and had. an open air bath on the balcony with an amazing view of the lake.
Dinner is served at your room and you have an attendant bringing out the dishes and explaining each dish. Breakfast is also buffet style on the 3rd F and everything tasted fresh and excellent.
Location is also very convenient and only a 10 min walk from the station and 2 minute walk from the ropeway. If anyone is considering of
staying around Fuji-Kawaguchiko. I definitely recommend staying at Konansou!

There are numerous accommodation options along the shores of Lake Kawaguchi. This was my second visit to the area and, after some deliberation, I opted to return to Konansou. The reasons to stay at Konansou remain the same as they were on my first visit 15 years ago. The location is excellent, providing breath taking views of the lake and Mt Fuji whilst also being close to all the transport options at Kawaguchiko station. For those staying half-board, dinners are delicious and at least on a par with higher-end ryokan.
The hotel accommodates both seekers of a traditional ryokan experience and those who are content with a more conventional hotel experience. As such, I found the contrast between dinner (served in our room in a very traditional manner) and breakfast (served in a noisy canteen environment) to be a little jarring. This duality is particularly apparent at breakfast time, but the lobby is also lacking in the style expected of a hotel of this type and price bracket.
On my first visit to Konansou, I enjoyed having a few beers in the public karaoke room. This now seems to have been replaced by private karaoke booths and those seeking an evening drink/entertainment will likely need to head out of the hotel.
Our room had a lake view. We stayed a couple of nights in the area and figured that we would have ample opportunities to view Mt Fuji (weather permitting) without paying a premium for a Fuji view room. This proved to be the case and a key highlight (on both my visits) was going for an early stroll around the lake to view Mt Fuji in the clear morning air. That said, the view from our room of the lake and surrounding mountains was also lovely.
Mt Fuji is a scene of surpassing beauty. I hope to return to the area one day and, if I do, I expect to stay again at Konansou. It’s not perfect, but the most important elements of our stay, being the room and food, were excellent.

I chose this hotel as we could book the private onsen. It’s difficult to see Mt Fuji and it depends on the luck. It’s not worth to stay at Mt Fuji view room with bad weather as you can’t see Mt Fuji. Thus, I booked the lake view room and it’s very nice.
I booked two rooms and one western style with two beds and one Japanese bed. The room is quite new.
Luckily, the weather is super good this time and I could see Mt Fuji.
I recommend this hotel if you don’t require to see the reflection of Mt Fuji. The food provided is delicious too. The buffet breakfast comes with variety of food.

Wanted to stay at Kawaguchiko to see Mt Fuji. A lot of reviews i read said people could not see Mt Fuji from Kawaguchiko, so wasn't sure what to expect. When we arrived it was grey and foggy, couldn't see a thing. When we woke up the next morning, the clouds parted and OMG, there she was was right in front of our window, didn't realise we would be that close! Konansou was great, be aware that being a Ryokan, you sleep on a thin mattress which is rolled out at night after dinner, the room does mot have any chairs or couches in the room to lounge around on. Two nights was enough for us as it can be a little uncomfortable. Having said that, totally recommend this place for the experience and Mt Fuji View( get a room with private Onsen, it's worth the extra money). The traditional style dinner was an amazing experience. you get to try so many different dishes. When you arrive you get a room host, who sets out dinner for you every night. Ours was Etsuko, she was delightful! She went to great lengths to explain each dish in detail, where ingredients came from, and she had a great sense of humour. The staff were so grateful we were there, given the Corona Virus situation, and couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. I could not think of a better place to stay for an amazing Mt Fuji and Ryokan experience.

Disappointing Room Service.
The server was sneezing and had her mask hanging below her nose and constantly touched her mask while serving food. She did not once sanitize her hand after touching the mask.
To avoid getting sick, we decided to open 2 doors to provide airflow.
The server attempted to close one of the glass doors so I asked her not to close it. She explained that the flames of the hot pot will blow out. I insisted that the doors remain open. We were more concerned for our health than the flames blowing out. There were at least 3-4 dishes that required flames and none of them had blown out while in use. Regardless of the guest's suggestions to keep the doors open, she decides to ignore our suggestion and closed the 2nd door of the 2nd room.
I would like the management to speak to their staff and remind them that they are not the ones staying in the room. The guest paid for the room and traveled really far to be there and staff should respect their space during their stay.
Also, our room was right next to a pantry where the kitchen was loud and constantly clinging to glass etcetera.
Staffs that are sick should stay home and not spread diseases in the hotel.

Our room is a traditional Japanese style room with a private onsen (an open air bath) and it comes with a spectacular Mount Fuji view! The roof top also has a foot onsen, and it has a better Fujisan view! Make sure you come up here at sunset!
The staff were very friendly and attentive. Although their English is not very good, they would do their best to help you with everything.
The in-room Kaiseki dinner was ok, and we wish they could explain more in English, or maybe provide a more detailed menu in English so we could know what we were having. The breakfast buffet was surprisingly good as they provide a variety of breakfast options.
We opted for a late check-out (an extra hour for ¥2500) as we felt like soaking in our private onsen and gazing out at Fujisan for a little longer.
The hotel also offers a free shuttle service between the hotel and Kawaguchiko station.

My partner and I could not recommend Konansou enough! Originally we were not planning on spending any time at an Onsen in Japan, however we stumbled across Konansou online and we just knew we had to go! We also decided to pay the bit extra for a private Onsen and a view of Mt Fuji. We were not disappointed!! The public baths were beautiful also (if you don’t mind bathing nude w/ strangers) and the rooftop foot spa w/ a spectacular view of my Fuji was certainly a highlight. A special mention goes to the wonderful room service from Hikari - her professionalism, hospitality and warm personality was world class and absolutely made our trip that but more special! Arigatōgozaimas!!

Ive stayed in kawaguchiko several times and this hotel has by far the best location. Great view from the room as well as great food. Footbath on the roof with a great view of Mt Fuji was a nice perk. Highly recommend

A truly magical experience. This Ryokan may be expensive but it was very very worth it.
We booked a room with a private Onsen and views of Mt Fuji….this did not disappoint!
The room was a traditional Ryokan with straw flooring, sliding doors and beds on the floor.
As mentioned we had our private Onsen, however, there was also communal Onsen separated male/female.
A member of staff made us green tea upon arrival and we were made to feel very welcome and attended. She also gave us Yukata (type of summer kimono to wear about the hotel).
No on site restaurant but the local area has many restaurants surrounding the hotel just a short walk away.
The roof top terrace has views both of the lake and of Mt Fuji, as well as a relaxing foot bath.
I have been trying to find Yukata back in the UK as they were very comfortable.

Dear Konansou team,
It’s never too late to write a positive review and thank Konansou team!
I’m writing this review 4 months after I stayed at your place ... just to thank you cause it’s still in my head! Arigatou gozaimasou 🙌🙌
Fuji san direct view from the rooftop spa, amazing in-room service! Very Japanese style in terms of room layout, bedding and service.
Kaiseki dinner was just above anything I ever experienced before! Endless tasteful dinner experience inside your room! Worth it so bad!
I would like to thank our amazing waiter Hikari! She deserves an award because she cared for us, showed special attention and demonstrated all her skills in adapting her culture to ours.
Breakfast is huge and included! Western and Japanese tastes to satisfy everyone
To finish with, again, thank you, you guys are rockstars!

There are taxi services in the area, but I recommend booking in advance - we tried to get a last-minute taxi to Chureito Pagoda and ended up waiting almost an hour for one to be free.
That’s quite far in advance. I would check around 6 months before your travel date. Or contact the hotel directly to find out when they open bookings.
