Hotel was conveniently located. Near to Kachi Kachi Ropeway and within walking distance to Lake Kawaguchiko and the surrounding attractions. Room was traditional and clean. Delicious Kaiseiki dinner was served in room, after which the staff will rearrange the room and set up the traditional beds for the night. Our room was overlooking Mount Fuji in close proximity and luckily... More

We chose Kasuitei Oya as the first stop on our whistle-stop honeymoon tour of Japan. We were a little bit worried about getting to Kawaguchiko and when we finally found the Highway Bus station in Shinjuku (it is in a brand new terminal so ignore the guide books) we discovered that they were fully booked until 3pm that afternoon so... Let me sum up the key things that made my trip really good there: 1. Location & logistics - you can actually arrange with the folks at the hotel for a pick-up and should they be unable to, no worries... you are likely gonna get the tourist bus ticket anyway and so just drop off at stop 10 which kind... It's so enjoyable staying in this hotel. I took my husband there for a mini honeymoon. It was my 4th time there. But my first time stay in this hotel - is old style but clean enough. Hot spring public bath is on roof top. Food is great, my husband really enjoyed it. I was ok with it. It is... More

Pros: Super friendly and helpful staff. Lovely spot on the lake with great views. Walking distance to the train/bus station. Clean facilities. Cons: Expensive!! Especially for such basic rooms. Slightly dated facilities. No options for western breakfast.

I find that this ryokan is my favourite for all the hotels during our 2 weeks trip. It is located at lake Kawaguchiko and in a walking distance from herb hall and gem museum (you can hop on red line bus there). There's a hotel shuttle van service to and from Kawaguchiko station. We booked standard double room which we... More

Wow! What a relaxing stay we had here! We chose a traditional Japanese style room that had it's own onsen bath on the balcony overlooking the lake. Soaking in the hot bath taking in the views was just gorgeous. Sleeping on the futons was our first real Japanese experience! Dining in the room was fabulous, a genuinely interesting and delicious... A nice traditional style hotel with full meal plan. The latter has been one of the highlights of the stay. You get your dinner in a separate room and it is very rich. We had the Shabu Shabu menu and it was very good and interesting. The breakfasts are nice as well, but in a large common room. They had... More

Plan to take a short hiking on mt. Fuji 5th station and a bike tour around the lake, but all failed due to the rain on the day we arrived and then snowing the next day. The hotel has great view of the lake, one day in the rain and the other with snow capped trees, great experience. Open hot... More

We arrived in the evening. The check in was fast. We'd booked the room from internet. We're shown our room and it was very lovely. We had view of the lake clearly. The room was spacious. Even though there were 2 adult plus 1 toddler plus big pram and a luggage, we could still move around easily. They had prepared... More
