Fantastic place!!!!! Old style farm hotel. Added on since 1920. Great food, adequate accommodation, plenty to do and exquisite surroundings. Not licensed so bring your own alcohol. Ideal for families, groups of friends or couples. Great walking .

We had some enjoyable stays at Wyndford Holiday farm many years ago and decided to try the facility again as a break and stopover on our way home. First impressions were good and staff friendly. However very little progress over the years was evident at first glance. This in itself was not a problem The room we had was pokey with no TV. But the big problem was that there was no hot water! This was reported with no action taken. Saturday it was reported again and after checking by the supervisor on duty it was determined that it could not be fixes at that time. Still no bathing or hot water. Could a room change possibly have been recommended? – Or ablution facilities elsewhere? A washbasin plug was dirty and my wife asked for it to be replaced or cleaned. No action was taken. On departure this was highlighted and the response was “ It was reported”. The instruction was obviously not followed up. Over the years my wife has developed mobility issues. This was highlighted at the time of booking. The end result is that this was not fully understood and movement was strenuous at times, particularly towards the dining area. Wyndford farm is definitely not mobility friendly. We cannot help feeling that we got the short end of the stick. Looking back it appears that securing the booking was more important for the facility than explaining the different options (TV and mobility for instance). Overall the experience was disappointing. Will we return or recommend the farm? Not sure for now. Maybe. The general feeling is that as we have now advanced to the pensioner status apathy and short changing is part of the experience at Wyndford Farm.

This is our 2nd visit and still absolutely great and value for money. All inclusive and my wife is vegetarian and they catered for her with also lovely meals. The room was very clean and cleaned daily, nice bath and shower. All the staff from the management to the cleaners were very friendly and the dogs - Rocky and Milly (turbo charged) and Humphrey the cat who also comes on all the walks even up the mountain to the absolute surprise of all first timers. The guides whotake the walks are very informative and very interesting local history stories. Then the best thing is coming back to tea/coffee and freshly baked cake or biscuits.

Room Tip: The double room with bath is fine as there is always a nice fire and tv in the main lounge near by.

I stayed solo for one night in March during my 11th annual South African road trip, so the review is relatively objective. Easily found with secure parking. The lightly wooded setting lent itself to the 'old school' style of the spaced out buildings, think lots of older, spaced out whitewashed buildings and well kept grounds. Friendly and efficient staff, who interact well with all guests. Please stay safe & well during these difficult times. I opted for a basic room, which was just that. Reasonable size, clean and comfortable. Morning tea/coffee was delivered to the room - but I would have preferred a kettle & makings for that vital wake up coffee. No TV for those addicted. The larger rooms looked to be more comprehensively fitted out. Wifi only in the main public areas. Lounges/TV room & library very comfortable with squashy sofas etc. Meals were basic fare - nothing fancy. Fixed menu with no choice. I'm not a fussy eater, so no problem. I'd have preferred a higher standard of catering, but the other guests (seniors like me) seemed more than satisfied. Excellent staff organised an activity in the evening for those so inclined. Plenty of walks with a good map supplied. Children will love the grounds, play areas, horse rides, small animal area - and adults are well catered for re tennis & lawn bowls etc. I would have stayed for a second night to enjoy more walks but needed to head back for an early departure from SA due to the impending pandemic. Average value. Would I stay again ? Probably yes just for the walks, but would prefer a higher standard of catering.
