From the outside it is quite ok, red rocks, quite local and it has its charm. But we arrived late at night and OMG it was so creepy there. I think the hotel was beautiful 20 years ago but now it would need a serious maintenance. The room was a large suite, quite nice but the cleanliness was so so... More

We were on the way to Bhadla Solar Park through Jodhpur. We had planned to have lunch at Phalodi but we're disappointed to see some highway hotels l, which were infested with flies. We then googled and Lal Niwas seemed like a good choice. It is a 250 year old haveli. The occupancy was not good since it was an... More

We stayed here on Day 13 of the Rickshaw Run. We were tired, hungry and generally broken. Lal Niwas is a 250 year old palace, and was quite possibly one of the most unexpected and unlooked for surprises on the journey. The rooms were spectacular! They were clean, warm and had hot water. The staff was friendly. The restaurant was... More

My wife and I spent one night at this hotel. This was the second stop on our 15-day independent tour through Rajasthan, and we found the overall experience a bit lacking. The building was stunningly beautiful and most of its common areas had been restored with great care. Walking through the interior courtyards and small enclosed terraces we felt being... More

arrived at night on 1st march in unseasonal, cold driving rain, to a really tasty dinner. Staff very helpful, arranged an autorickshaw to take us to see the cranes at Khichan at 7am the next morning, an experience of a lifetime, around 5,000 of them flying in from the fields, congregating, preening, sparring, feeding and then doing spectacular flypasts and... We arrived to Phalodi in late october with the intention of visiting Kheechan for the spectacle of its demoiselle cranes. We chose to stay inside Phalodi, about 20' by rickshaw from Kheechan, in this beautiful Heritage Hotel, Lal Niwas. It proved to be an excel.lent choice as the place has a lot of charm and history, and we were treated... More

This is a grand haveli with a wonderful street appearance, and you will enjoy exploring the complex web of courtyards and rooms. It felt a bit like visiting your rich Indian grandparents, with interesting bits and pieces to look at in a rather gloomy atmosphere. Our room was very large and comfortable with fascinating architecture, including two little screened balconies... More

Lal Niwas was a revelation of sorts. After squeezing our Innova through the tiny lanes of Phalodi town, we suddenly stepped into a very nicely done up haveli turned into a heritage hotel. Its run in partnership by the owners and the ITC Welcomgroup people, so the experience is definitely authentic. What I liked: The room we got was very... More
