We booked last minute and arrived after the museums were closed so technically reception was closed, but the hotel staff was totally accommodating and arranged for the security person to let us in. We were thrilled to find out way up the 4 elevators and down the medieval hallways, it was super cool and I highly recommend it. The room charge included a nice breakfast, 2 tickets to the exhibits (which is worth a lot). Very clean and large room, very functional, no thrills. Also extremely quiet and we slept with the windows open.

First - stay at least 2 nights so that you can experience everything Forte di Bard has to offer. As other reviews note, keep your luggage light as you have to take 4 funiculars or elevators to get to registration - don’t worry, it is well worth it! We booked through Deborah who couldn’t have been more helpful. The fort was busy that evening but she found us two rooms. Deborah was a great introduction to the staff of the hotel. We were met by Stephanie at reception who gave us a terrific explanation of the forte and a run down on the hotel, the forte and the village of Bard. She also made a dinner reservation at a great little restaurant in the village. These two ladies made all the difference for our stay as we were made to feel welcome from the time of our initial telephone call. The room was large and adequately furnished with a big comfortable bed. As I said earlier, you need more than a one-night stay to really appreciate all that the Forte and Bard have to offer. We would strongly recommend staying at Hotel Cavour et des Officiers and again want to express our appreciation for the helpful, friendly staff.

This hotel has only 11 rooms. They are all large, airy and recently done up. To get to the hotel part of the fort you take 3 funiculars and a lift from the car park, so don’t take too much luggage as you have to carry it. The fort itself is magnificent and it is tremendous fun to stay in it. After all the daily tourists have gone, you have the place to yourself and it is magical. The staff are outstandingly helpful and the rooms are comfy. Included are tickets to all the museums and exhibitions all of which were fantastic. We loved every minute.

As of July 2018 the parking and the museum entrance are still included in the price of the accommodation, the location of the hotel in the old fortress has steadily its charm and hotel staff still do more than expected. We were a bit afraid about our trip with lugagge to the hotel from the garage, but it was no problem, the lifts were empty and were running frequently. The lifts run all night, so it is possible to have dinner in Bard and then use funicular system to go back to the hotel. Both museums and temporary exhibitions are worth a visit, all in all an unique experience.
