Having had Spain cancelled twice this year we booked this little farm for our family break and was pleasantly surprised with the beautiful cottage and exceptional facilities, everything was very well handled /cleaned during CV19 and we felt very comfortable In the surroundings. The heated pool having private slots was an awesome idea. The personal touches of a welcome package with the things you may forget, the daily eggs and mushrooms left outside for you to use and having Mick & Julie on hand but not in your face made our experience truly 5 star, Not forgetting the morning animal feeds which were a real farm experience, the photos on the internet don’t do it justice, we will defo be back And would recommend.

I haven't written a Tripadvisor review in years (you can check my profile), but the terrific week my extended family just had at Hill Farm Cottages has prompted me to speak up for a change. We had 9 people in 3 cottages, all of which were in excellent shape and perfectly clean. Kitchens were extremely well equipped, with more dishes and flatware than even a big group could use. Cottages came with washing-up liquid, sponges, tea towels, hand sanitizer, loo paper, and sheets, along with a welcome pack of milk, tea, instant coffee, sugar, salt & pepper, and some nice treats for adults and kids. One cottage had a dishwasher (Annery Kiln). Bath towels were a small extra charge. The location is very quiet, and I found the phone reception and wifi to be very good (although I'm not sure if Devon wifi is consistent enough to stream films -- we used a couple of their many DVDs instead of trying our Roku). My four grandchildren, ages 3 to 8, had a grand time. The owners, Mick and Julie, have turned animal feeding into an hour of fun first thing every morning, which our crew wanted to do again and again all week. There's a big play field with a summer house, a nice indoor game room, and most important of all -- the big, very clean and warm indoor pool. The weather our August week was cool, windy and partly rainy, so the pool was a holiday saver -- we happily used it every day. We found lots to do that we enjoyed -- beautiful sandy beaches and coastal walks (with easy parking), great biking on the Tarka Trail (paved and wide enough for children relatively new to 2 wheels), the Milky Way amusement park (pleasant rides, pleasant staff), the Big Sheep (not many rides open but fun animal shows), the Gnome Reserve (quirky!), a trampoline centre, and the cinema in Bideford one very rainy afternoon. We mostly used the excellent kitchen facilities to cook in, but had a notably good Italian takeout from Belluno in Bideford (15 minutes away). Julie and Mick are warm and kind hosts who obviously work hard to make sure guests have a good stay. And they gave each child a bag of treats and a certificate with a personalised comment at the end of the week. Everyone in my family is clamouring for a return visit!

We spent a week at Hill Farm Cottages this summer. The kids loved feeding the farm animals (which they could do most mornings). Mike & Julie made sure all of the kids were involved in the activity and made it fun for all. The cottage we stayed in was a great size for a family of four with a well-equipped kitchen. The cottage was clean and we felt completely safe with all the Covid-19 measures in place. Everyone staying could use the swimming pool for 1.5 hours a day which was a fair system. The location was great for exploring North Devon. I am sure we will be back in the future.

We stayed here 3 years ago and had such a nice time we decided to come back this year. Owners Mike and Julie were very welcoming - welcome pack of tea, biscuits, cake, eggs etc on arrival. Every morning the kids could go and feed the farm animals with them - they took their time and made sure all the kids were included and having fun. Cottage was perfect - plenty of space for the family. Covid measures were very well established - the cottage was spotless and wipes/alcohol gel supplied. The pool was open with a system whereby each family had to book a slot for 1.5 hours with a full clean inbetween slots. Playground is lovely and grounds beautifully kept. We're coming back and I'd highly recommend. Very easy to get to the beach, Bideford and Barnstable and lots of things to do nearby.
