Although I registered and prepaid for a one-week stay at the Finca al-manzil, the owners took me to another of their properties where I was to be the only human being for miles around during my 18-hour "holiday." The property consists of two converted mill houses and an exterior building of showers and toilets shared by the occupants of the...

Looking for somewhere special in our beloved Spain, we recalled our unique break back in 2013 in Casa Alfarera- and discovered the review we thought we'd written hadn't been submitted. So here is a considerably belated account of one of our most memorable stays in Spain. This location took our breath away - we loved the peace, the privacy, the...

Casa Alcornque Azul - Pippa and Manfred are quite a formidable double act - she promised us the pool would be operational and when it wasn't, he made us feel ridiculous for wanting to swim in April - although the rest of the week was hot and it would have been lovely to have had a pool. We didn't meet...

This review is about Casa Alfarera which is a privately owned property (not owned by the Finca's owners, Pippa & Manfred, who oversee it for the English owner). The location of the Casa is superb. It is set in an olive grove with wonderful views. The setting is very private ....stunning sunsets! We had our two dogs with us and...

If you are happy with four large (barking guard) dogs loose on the premises, then this is ideal for you. If you paid and booked full board and found only an evening meal offered, then again a perfect choice. Should you take any concerns to the agent, in this case Responsible Travel, and can accept a torrent of denials and...

The couple who wrote this review were staying for a walking week 2 years ago so I don't know why they have chosen to submit the review now. Sadly they were severely physically challenged for a walking holiday in the sierra, their condition was very poor and they felt very uncomfortable because of this. But more seriously one of them...

Spent a week in this traditional Finca during the heat of August. The rooms, especially the upstairs bedroom do get quite warm, but then it is Spain in the summer, so what does one expect? The Finca has a (not-too) rustic character, with a roomy well-equipped kitchen and a quiet high-ceiling living space. Two of the bedrooms are downstairs and...

Myself and my wife stayed here for 10 nights in September with friends and totally loved it. We rented the Cortijo and found it to be incredibly comfortable, well-equipped, beautifully maintained and roomy. The house is much bigger than expected and easily accommodated six of us. We made full use of the front and side terraces and the outdoor table...

We absolutely adored our stay here. It is very hot in July and there are mosquitos, but that was to be expected. The terrace at the back has a barbeque and we spent lovely summer meals outside. Pippa and Manfred were very helpful.

We visited in mid May and were astonished at the incredible wild flowers everywhere (as well as being grateful that we'd checked the weather forecasts and had brought warm clothes for chilly evenings). The days that were sunny gave us a glimpse of how special a holiday in this cortijo could be. Swimming pool tucked beneath the mountains, fabulous birds...

We booked the Barn because of the beautiful surroundings and stunning birdlife. And that is absolutely what we found. But, the house itself was poorly cleaned and we got the impression that it is kind of neglected. Also, we didn't feel welcomed by the owners and communication was poorly and distant. We mentioned a leaking sink on our first day,...

Have only just noticed this review, This review is NOT about our barn at Finca al-manzil. This client stayed for some days at the barn but she wanted to stay longer, the barn was booked up for the extra days she wanted so we kindly accommodated her in another house which we manage, she was happy to move there to...
