We spent three very happy days based here while visiting the Somme. Sara made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. We enjoyed her fabulous breakfasts and ended up having all our evening meals here too enjoying the company of others also exploring the area. Pete has a wealth of knowledge and we were able to book a...

Fantastic place to stay right in the heart of the ANZAC WW1 battlefields. NZ monument can be seen out the back window! House is full of amazing military memorabilia and books. Sarah is a fabulous host with nothing too much trouble. Our group had a great time here and it can be thoroughly recommended to all. Kiwis and Aussies will...

My daughter and I stayed here for two nights in July. Top accommodation and we were looked after very well. Lovely and quiet but you are within walking distance or a quick car trip to many interesting places. A great base for day trips further a field. We had a windy weekend on the Somme. A bit of a gamble in October; albeit a little more favourable in 2013 than 1916. Very comfortable and homely B&B with large rooms and good facilities. Sara is a great cook and offers great care for her guests. Pete is extremely knowledgeable and enjoys a challenge. He even produced a chunk...

I went on this trip with my mate to see if we could find out where his Grandfather was captured. His mother had given him the wrong Regiment it turned out which didn't help ! However, Pete's knowledge proved invaluable and my mate now has a starting point to do some research. The accomodation was spot on, as a historian...

Our visit to the Somme was totally enhanced by our stay at Otago View. The fantastic service by Sarah and the trip advice she gave, as well as some time (not enough) to listen to some incredible information from Pete was fantastic. I think it would be very hard to do better than staying at 'Otago View'. Not only will...

A great 'home from home' B & B. really friendly, comfortable, clean and great base for your battlefield journey. Great breakfast and couldn't have been looked after better. The place was warm, beds really comfortable and we were made to feel very welcome. Sarah was a great cook and so hospitable and Pete's knowledge of the war and the area...

After a long day of visiting the different sights and battle grounds in the Somme area, which are all wonderful but slightly emotionally draining it was lovely to come back to such a grea place. Our host was fantastic, we are made to feel welcome straight away, had a few beers on the house and then sat down to eat....

I have just returned from Fler with my family and my partner and cannot speak highly enough of Hilary and the accommodation. We rented the self catering cottage which was kitted out with everything you'd need (including english tv so we could keep up with the Olympics!). The place was clean and tidy and Hilary was a total delight, and...

I have stayed here three times and booked for next year. For those of us who are fascinated by this part of the Somme especially, Fricourt, Mametz, Mametz Wood, High Wood and Longueval there is no better place to stay. You will get a great welcome from your hosts and eat excellent food in company with fellow enthusiasts and then...
