We had moored our boat in the next village but not found a restaurant to our liking and so had phoned the Hostellerie da la Fontaine to see if they had a table free and to ask if they could arrange for a taxi. Their answer was yes to both. In fact our 'taxi' turned out to be the chef!... More

We had dinner in June. I can only repeat what some of the previous reviewers have said. The whole dining experience was wonderful. Perfect table settings in a charming setting. The food was delightful and yes the cheese board is not to be missed. I could go on and on but this is the sort of restaurant that you should... More

My Wife and I had lunch there today having been there several times over the past 5 years. The meal is made into an occasion by the owner and head of the family who is charming and welcoming. His knowledge of the cheeses and the wines provides the diner with a master class greatly adding to the excellent meal. The... More

The setting is an old wine cellar, well spaced tables yet cosy. The presentation of the meal was spectacular--simultaneous unveiling of all plates and each plate was perfectly oriented before the patron. Everything about the meal was excellent but the cheese trolley--a weakness of mine--exceeded all expectations. These weren't run-of-the-mill offerings but truly fine cheeses well explained by the host.... More

This is an absolutely charming restaurant (I did not stay in the hotel) in rural Burgundy. You must try the cheese plate. Yes, dinner will be delicious. Yes, the wine list is quite nice. However, nothing is so civilized as the cheese plate. Monsieur carefully wheels his cheese trolley (the chariot de fromages) and personally serves you. He'll explain where... More

Looks unimpressive from the street and sits in a pretty, old but otherwise barely-worth-stopping town on the canal and river Cure. It's on the train line (local train from Auxerre). Rooms functional, and a little dated, but fine. Most overlook a secluded garden where you can sit and enjoy a drink. Breakfast & breakfast room is bland - but you're... More
