We stayed at the moorings on Sat 9th July as we were attending a family wedding at Beamish Hall, We found the hotel to be brilliant really clean and our room no 6 very spacious, even though we were at the front of the hotel and looking over the bus stop there was hardly any noise. The staff and manager... More

One should not be deceived by the name as the Moorings is nowhere near a river or canal or a lake so no one could tell us how it got its name. It is a country pub with rooms attached on a fairly busy road about 5 miles out of Chester-Le-Street. The rooms are comfortable enough but would advise the... More

Stayed 2 nights at The Moorings for the test match in May 2016. A bit of a quaint hotel, room was well appointed. Comfortable bed, tea and coffee making facilities (oh for a biscuit), nice bathroom (watch out for very hot water). Nice and quiet location, with spacious car park and easy access to test match at Riverside. Staff very... More

The food used to be brilliant , service and bills always been very bad . But when I have read other reviews they don't seem to care. Every time and I do mean every time and that's about 10 times this year my bill was wrong. Service and detail are very poor , I think maybe 1 girl is pleasant... More

waited 50mins for meals to arrive and for basic pub bar meals found them to be overpriced compared to pubs offering a far superior menu as was a small lemonade at 2.50 Meals on arrival were of poor quality parts were cold and chips were just stuck together in a lump.Wouldnt visit again unless some great improvements made.

Booked for a family birthday meal, first impressions were good, nice layout and atmosphere, however all downhill from there. We were given 4 menus to choose from-why ? who needs 4 different menus especially as we were eventually told to ignore one as it is duplicated on another menu ! When we did order one of the meals was wrong... More

We had an overnighter with our elderly aunt. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant and asked for a morning alarm call for our aunt. When staff didn't get a response from her they followed it up with a knock on her door. Turns out she'd fallen and cut her leg quite badly. Luckily the staff member was a... More

Our first ever Christmas lunch out and the Moorings didn't disappoint !! Food fab and served with a smile . The restaurant was very busy but nothing was too much trouble and we were able to eat at our own pace, which was great given the youngest guest was 1 and the oldest 85. (And new toilets fab too!!)
