Nestled near the lush Shimla reserved forest, The Nilaya is a boutique hotel near Mashobra. Situated an hour away from the hustle-bustle of Shimla, the state capital of Himachal Pradesh, the area retains the pristine beauty of the Himalayas. I visited Mashobra in September with a group of friends and my dog. I really wanted to take my dog to the hills, and even though Nilaya isn't pet friendly 'yet', on our request they made an exception for us. (Thanks to the property owner who's a dog lover) The staff was extremely friendly, the restaurant very flexible (appreciate this!) The property is beautiful with even better views. We had three great evenings here, which obviously also added up to the experience. The first night after we freshened up, we met at the hotel bar and spent the night there. The atmosphere was very cosy and we had a very fun night. After dinner we even went for stargazing, which was magnificiant. The second day we woke up to the great views that Nilaya has to offer. Their deck area, where they also serve breakfast offers spectacular views of the mountains. We spent a lot of time during our stay here. A secluded picnic spot in the woods was suggested to us by the owner, and we were glad we took his recommendation. The staff set up a bonfire for us in the deck area once we got back later in the evening. The third day we did a small hike, which was also recommended by the staff. We truly enjoyed walking, the scenery was beautiful and it was a relief to walk in such a quiet and peaceful environment. Once we got back, we chilled in the attic area of the property. Some of us played pool, others were busy playing board games and one of us just decided to relax while reading a book. It didn't feel like we were in a hotel. The vibes and the atmosphere is so special that it really felt like home to me. The morning we were leaving, we had breakfast in their Gazebo... It blew our minds! The only regret I have with my stay at The Nilaya? - why did I not visit the Gazebo before!

We went to Shimla and stayed at Nilaya which is far away from the hustle bustle of Shimla. The road to Nilaya is scenic and you would have to cross Shimla city to reach Mashobra where Nilaya is. The approach road that is about the last 100 metres are a narrow single lane to reach Nilaya. It is in a steep decline so reaching its Parking (they have private parcking of about 6-7 cars) is a bit tricy to manouvree. Its a boutique style hotel where we took the executive room which was spacious with queen size bed , couch , coffee table and tv. We had booked a 2 meal package and the buffet breakfast and dinner both had indian continental offerings which was delicious. The room was in ground floor (noview). The restaurant was at level 2 and level 3 had activity area. With pool table, carrom , small library, board games in a cozy setting good fun for kids and adults alike. The view of the valley from Nilaya is great. They also arrange night/ star gazing walk if the weather permits. Unfortunately, it was cloudy therefore we couldnt get a start gazing night. Would love to visit Nilaya again. Highly recommended.

Hello! Thank you for taking out the time to review The Nilaya, we are happy to read that you would recommend the property! Stargazing is one of the highlights here for sure, and we are as disappointed as you that the weather couldn't permit us to go for the walk. Let me address the misses quickly: Approach road - The final stretch is indeed a little steep, but we have put breakers and widened the road recently to ensure it's not a hassle. In either case, our local staff and I and are glad to be valets and help you park and take out the car. Parking - We easily fit about 15 cars in that space, but that's the expertise of our guards and staff :D Room without a view - Our ground floor rooms do not have a striking view, but allow ample of light and sunlight to come through. Our premium rooms and some Super Deluxe rooms, however, do offer incredible views. That said, I am glad you enjoyed the buffets, activity area, view from the restaurant/attic, and the rooms. We look forward to welcoming you again :) Best Laksh Arora The Nilaya

Had a chance to visit this beautiful place along with my family. This is truly a boutique hotel. The interiors are magnificent and soothing. The view of hills from the well maintained rooms is mesmerizing. One can go for a nature walk in the evening along with the hotel staff who takes you to the nearby green forest. We could see lot of bird species which we had never seen in our crowded city. The rooms are neat, well maintained and the house keep staff is very attentive. The quality of food is also good. In the bar, in the attic, in the open space near restaurant, one can relax and enjoy to the fullest.

First up, the property deserves accolades for being the rare one to exude both 'finesse' and 'tranquility' from every nook and cranny that it occupies. To say that it has been curated with a lot of heart and soul would be stating the obvious, but since such distinctions come rarely, it must go on record. The staff, although warm, courteous and affable for most part, has a tendency to hold back just enough to make the experience fall just short of 'delightful'. Notwithstanding the minor service niggles, the Nilaya does end up casting a spell so profound, that one takes back abundant picturesque memories and a certain benchmark for future holidays.

I visited Mashobra for the first time and reached The Nilaya on 3rd August,19. We were anticipating a good three star property; but soon after entering the hotel we started loving it. Right from the reception area to lobby than to bar and the dining area, I was mesmerised. Everything was so beautifully and aesthetically done. Each piece that has been kept there was par excellence and was uplifting the place. Different themes that they have followed in artistically designing bar area, restaurant, open space with some covered glass, the three hanging monkeys, the selfie point - show the keen passion of the people creating these ideas. One has to see it to believe it. The love and past with which each part of this hotel is designed speaks volumes for it The best part of this boutique hotel is its location. It’s located at one of the prominent locations of Mashobra where nature has bestowed its best with tall trees, lush greenery and scenic beauty. While sitting in room or in the bar or open area you can see clouds coming towards you from the beautiful valley. I cannot resist my temptation of coming here again and again A must visit for all nature lovers who love to stay in good property with good food and warm hospitality Blessings and best wishes for the nilaya family Renu Bawa
