Hospitality, nice atmosphere, warm ambience, great food and service, nice wine list and wada spa on more than 1000 m2. I will be back. And yes, hotel is 10 meters from ski slope and chairlift. Back to wines, Amarone is on the list. Hope next year also some good Slovenian wine will be added.

As a family with 2 children in age 7,6 we did, or booking.com did bad room reservation for us. After we came in a hotel-they were very nice to us, gave us another room. What we really apprepriciate was a lovely dinner and nice waiters, very tasty-good european level, if you travel with children-really a good choice. They always asked, if they can serve immediately, or if you would like to wait. What we liked, it was a good saunas temperature for children, they can stood there longer with us and relaxed. Nice wellness. Better quality and better services, than we expected. Good skiing for children. Try!

Rooms: very nice, comfortable, real Austrian style (wood, ...). Food: very good food, nice variety of different food. Breakfast: from fruits, traditional things like eggs, speck, ... in short something for everybody. Dinner: few rounds, from cold and warm starter, 3 choices of main dish (meet, fish, vegeterian), salad, desert. Other: ski out and in (gr8 location). Wellnes: 1000 m2 of welness. If I remeber right 7 saunas, jacuzzi, rest room (part with water bads). Just perfect. You can ask for all kind of services like massage, manicura, ...

A really excellent hotel right in the middle of Zauchensee. On arrival, the staff were super helpful and showed me to room straight away. It was excellent. Large for a single room, very clean and modern with a small shared balcony. The food was excellent throughout my stay, as was the service and the well trained staff. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay within the ski resort of Zauchensee whether for couples, singles or families. All the lifts were within two minutes walk. Great location

Zauchensee is a little higher than the average Austrian resort at 1300m and the snow is thus more reliable and the season a little longer. It is also at the head of a valley - and the road goes no further. Traffic is thus minimal. The resort has enough intermediate skiing for three or four days without undue repetition - and, for beginners and children, the facilities are magnificent. I really liked the design of the main runs - all bar one of the lifts has two ways down, one easy, one more difficult. Ideal for mixed ability skiing parties. For the adventurous, there is the Weltcup (World Cup) run which has no easy way down - doable for intermediates on the outside of bends but the really steep edge will challenge the ambitious. If you want to go further and you have a car your Ski Amade skipass will give you access to numerous other resorts nearby. The Alpenrose is well-located, right adjacent to one of the lifts (the Unterbergbahn) and close to the ski school. From the top of this lift you can ski to all the other lift stations in the resort and then over to Flachauwinkl if the mood takes you. The stairs to the ski room are right by the ski lift. Family-run hotels like this are plentiful in the Austrian alps and I think they have a winning formula. The hotels are big enough to offer leisure facilites but small enough for you feel you are dining in a medium-sized restaurant. The food here is excellent - spectacular buffet breakfast with chef-prepared omelettes etc (no extra cost), after-ski snack comprising both a savoury dish and a sweet pastry (stick to soups at lunch or you won't have room for this) and a five/six course dinner each evening (healthy, well-prepared and sensible portions). The leisure facilties are extensive - fitness machines, sauna, indoor pool, beauty treatments and a lot more. The indoor pool is not enormous. The ice pool is mercifully small. Rooms have a traditional feel but are modern and well-appointed and family accommodation is available. A winner.
