Host Jason was superb and a great cook too. Facilities are certainly simple here but when you see the effort many people go to so that you can have a hot shower -you are both humbled and inspired. Jason and staff were really helpful at setting us up with other community benefitting activities and the one we chose was particularly fascinating - a tour of the salt producing lake at Katwi. Its a very hard life for the people there. So for a clean basic and community benefitting base for the Park, you aren't going to beat The Elephant Home.

So this place is lovely. It is basic and close to the street but definitely worth a visit. It is a community project and they did a good job. Firstly they were really really friendly. I think the friendliest people we meet in uganda. Secondly the food is tasty and the drinks cold. They go the extra mile for you and store the drinks somewhere else where they have a good fridge and fetch your drinks when you want some. It doesn't take longer and is a really nice touch.Furthermore they do everything to make you feel home. We were camping and they gave us a shower and toilet in one of the rooms because it was available. Afterwards they installed lovely little solar lights around our campsite in the evening and came down to ask us if they might bring us something in a very respectful and friendly way. We also liked that you could have little roofs where you could put your tent underneath. Of course this is not a 5 star lodge. It is a lovely authentic place running by a local community with a lot of heart and kindness.

We stayed two nights in August, 2021 and highly recommend The Elephant Home! First, Jason, the on-site manager, is amazing, and all the staff are very friendly, went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable, and provided a very professional level of service. Meals were all delicious and varied (Jason is the chef as well), and the dining area is lovely. While there, we had to get Covid tests for onward travel to Kenya, and were at a bit of a loss on how to do so. Jason came to our rescue and personally escorted us to three different places, first in Kasese and finally to the border with Congo (which is not as far away as it sounds), to finally be able to get the correct test and have results in time - we NEVER would have been able to do that without his help! They also arranged for our lion tracking safari in QENP, and the community boat ride in the Kazinga Channel (which I recommend over the Park-run boat trip, as it's much closer to Elephant Home). If we did it all over again though, I would actually have done a community tour instead of the boat trip. Our rooms were clean, with comfortable beds, and the noise from the road was minimal. Yes, the facilities are basic (heated water was provided for bathing), but we appreciate the tremendous effort the community is making to attract income from tourists, and also appreciated having just a small sense of daily life in the community.

Great welcome. Good food and very friendly and helpful staff.
This accommodation is supporting a local community project to improve relationships between communities living beside QE Park and the Park authorities. Amazing project and extremely nice staff! We also had a delicious dinner there.

The Elephant Home is a pleasant accommodation just outside Queen Elizabeth NP. The staff is very friendly and the food tasty. We stayed one night with our car with rooftop tent. From the restaurant you overlook a beautiful garden. They work on various projects for the community to make life a little nicer. Highly recommended!

Basic but very clean and friendly environment. Excellent food. Very friendly staff. Profits go to the local community. Unforgettable experience to visit the local school with our children. Good place to make our children aware of that (hot) water, electricity and wifi can’t be taken for granted everywhere.

We stayed for one night on our road trip. The facilities are quite basic. No solar/ running hot water (they need to boil water). No electricity. The food was ok, the staff are lovely and they are trying to use income to upgrade facilities. The room was good. We also did the village walk tour which was very interesting and would recommend.

Just North of the Equator monument, this campsite is a great alternative to expensive lodges. And profits go to the local community. Good for budget travellers looking for clean accomodation with tasty food. Campsites are roofed and rooms are very comfortable.

If you're looking for the Hilton, just keep driving, because you won't appreciate this place. This is a community-focused operation that supports the local people in every way. That alone is reason enough to book a few nights here.

The entrance is right off the busy highway, so we expected to hear traffic noise but, turns out, we were unaware of it. The rooms are not fancy, but the shower was amazing, so I give them very high marks for that. Because they are just beginning to recover from the lockdown, it happened that the four of us were the only guests during our two-night stay, which was too bad. This place should be full all the time.

It's the people, and their focus on community, that make the place so special. Special shout-out to Edwin, who was always ready to take care of anything we needed, and Jason, an excellent chef who turned out delicious high quality meals. We would put him up against fancy hotel chefs any time.

Be sure to check out the little gift shop. This is where you'll find gorgeous hand-made baskets and other genuinely local crafts. Support these people; they deserve it.

We only stayed for coffee and the community tour, but were shown around the place. Very friendly staff and nice campground with sheltered campsites. Opportunity to book the channel cruise on Kazinga Channel.

Hi again, You cant get a discount but the rates of the park are categorized in four sections. Foreign none residents paying the highest, foreign residents paying the second highest, students and children paying the third highest and local east African residents paying the lowest in Uganda shillings. if any of the group is in any category other than the first one, we can get them some discount. another way you automatically from the ark is, staying at our site outside the park so that you enter the ark only on the day of the game drive. the third saving option is taking the boat cruise on Kazinga channel from the community and you save 5$ each person but you also don't pay park entrance fee on the day of the boat cruise. in your message you said, you get the place for 29th of December. do you mean you want to reserve the elephant center campsite? if yes, is it right that you will be 14 people. Thanks

Hi, we are located just next to the park and about 6 minutes drive from the gate. We can arrange every activity in Queen Elizabeth national park including the boat tour and safari. In total, we have four twins; three self contained and one a none self contained Cabin. for this reason, we cant provide the seven twin rooms for your group. However, we have a number of options we use to accommodate larger groups; we add an additional bed in each of the three self contained rooms since they are large. then we also provide the four camping shades to take tents of two people each. this brings the total of people we can accommodate to 19 a night. Please let me know if this can work for you, as it has worked for many groups. Thanks, Felex
