Positives: fantastic views, nice pool, rooms ok, fairly good value for money. Negatives: very slow food service, many things missing from food menu, bad food, very limited bar selection, warm beer, owner shouted at us in front of other guests because we had a dog (on leash) despite the staff (receptionist) having allowed the dog at the time of booking as well as in person, owner blasted television at loud volume during breakfast time (?!?)... Overall, place has a lot of potential and is good value for money if you don't expect much when it comes to service standard.
You would pay hundreds of dollars in other lodges for the views you get from rooms here - but the smaller prices don’t represent a huge compromise in quality. Rooms are well appointed, bright and comfortable with views out to the lake on one side and the pool on the other. There is a good menu of Italian influenced food. Food is very, very slow to arrive even by more relaxed Ugandan standards. Best to order well in advance and go about your day while you wait. When it does come, food is very good! I travelled with my 1 year old daughter and was welcomed and looked after - but it’s perhaps not somewhere I’d recommend for those with toddlers as there isn’t anywhere for them to run around that is free from steep drops down to the lake (or next to the pool). Not a criticism- just an observation for those considering bringing very young children! The lodge is fairly isolated so don’t come expecting an action packed time - it’s more a place to relax and unwind in superb surroundings. A small selection of activities are available including a nature walk around the lake. You’d have to go further afield for other excursions. Pool could probably do with being cleaned a little more regularly - its was perfectly useable but a fair amount of floating debris from the trees- perhaps just the result of a couple of particularly windy days. Overall a lovely little place and really excellent value for money.…
This lodge has everything I have ever looked for as a well traveled woman. Location and view are 10 out of 10. From my room (nr3) I see crater lake and mountains on either side. The lake is swimmable but only if you are really confident swimmer , it reaches to 500 m deep and has no sloping shores. Otherwise just stick to the very nice and heated pool. Pietro and staff will do everything in their power to make your stay fantastic and relaxing. If you are an active person go on hikes with guide Alex over the hills to discover more crater lakes and villages. Chimp tracking or hotsprings are an hour drive. By own means or thru a touroperator in Fort Portal. It helps if you have a solid car to reach this place . Although I took the Linkbus from Kampala. Get of at the village and the bodaboda will take you to the lodge for another 2000sh. Works fine! The cuisine is Italian, never did rucola taste so good. Ofcourse you can order local as well. Whatever the choice is make sure you order in time so they can prepare your meal and serve it at your convenient time. The story of the Duke of Abruzzi getting to the top of the Rwenzori mountains in 1906 is well on display in the restaurant so stop by for this interesting piece of history. Also there is beautiful African Art in each room. And...during my 6 day stay I had wifi, electricity and warm water around the clock. That is rare in Uganda. I will come back. …
The stunning panoramic view of the lake and the mountain was so incredible and so much we enjoyed staying here. i am sure we are looking forward to go back and stay at lodge bella vista. great thanks to the staff who did everything possible to make our trip amazing,we had nice food nice rooms with the view of the lake.

There is a great view from the lodge overlooking the crater lake. This is a good place to relax, do some bird watching and have nice strolls. You can swim in the lake. Staffs have always been very helpful. We were in a group of 35 and did not have any hiccups while staying there the whole weekend. The lodge is also close to other attractions (Rwenzori, hot water springs) etc. You can also walk up the the close by hill, though steep. Pool was cleaned every morning. Service was ok. Awesome and very comfortable beds. Our room had the view of the lake and we just enjoyed it. you can also hire mountain bikes from the lodge. A nice discovery.
This Lodge has the advantage of being close to the highest peaks of the Rwenzori Mountains. With a little luck (haze in dry season, sometimes clouds in rainy), you can enjoy sitting in the front porch of your room looking out over the swimming pool to the peaks (though the highest are further behind). Recommended for breakfast! The rooms are very comfortable and imaginatively designed. From your rear porch you sit right above the crater lake - maybe 100 metres belwo. Great for bird-watchers. A beautiful aerial dance of brown kites over the water this morning. The staff were all very helpful.
Location is outstanding Rooms are well done , good view But Service v v v poor Food v v bad, except the pizzas Time taken after ordering 2-3 hours On the day we arrived and checked in , it was 1 pm , there was not a drop of water in the taps, they told us it would come in 30 minutes but water did not come for 8 hours, till 9 pm there was no water We asked for a bucket of water and a mug They arranged for half a bucket of water but said there was no mug. Food which we ordered at 115 pm was brought at 3 pm There was no wifi for a whole day, we were told that it was not topped up, wifi was off from 6 am to 4 pm Overall v v disappointed with service
Normally every first week of October for the last 15 years todate, I and my wife have been choosing a quite good lodge mainly in a wild environment targeting fresh breath and sounds of nature for mind relaxation and resting. This year we choose Lodge Bellavasita as our destination. We were so much excited and amazed by the hospitality of the highest order by the lodge staff from the day 1 up to 5th day of our stay. We really enjoyed food there as it was pure organic. We enjoying spot fishing where we went with lodge staff physically did fishing and the very fish had it for our dinner, the pizza and the italian menu made this lodge very unique compared to other lodges we had visited before. We enjoyed local actvities around the lodge including sunrise and sun set tours, top of lake view, hiking all concluded by enjoying the swiming pool at the lodge. I liked the King delux room as it was spacious with big windows where you see all lake through the window and surrounding hills. I higly recomend who ever wantd to relax to go thrte however I would recomend that the lodge could put a shuttle st thr lodge to pick budget travellers from rwimi or kasese or fortportal as there is no direct public transport up to the lodge…
Stayed here on our stopover between Kibale and Queen Elizabeth NPs. The staff was super friendly and accommodating, especially Ivan who took us out on the lake in the evening and invited us on a walk to see the surrounding farms and villages in the morning. The hilltop location overlooking the crater lake provided outstanding views and a wonderful cooling breeze. We had two comfortable, clean bedrooms on separate floors, a nice roomy bathroom, and decks on all floors out the front and back. Breakfast was included and was good and filling, and dinner was very reasonably priced and delicious (I had an artichoke pizza and big salad, which could be enough food for two people).
