dirty place, bad service, expensive hotel and with little seriousness. coconuts can kill you at any moment and the food is stinky and horrible. the hotel is very run down and in disrepair. We have paid more than €600/night for a 4-star hotel that doesn't even reach 1. THINK ABOUT IT BEFORE YOU GO, there are better places!!!!!

Ia Ora Na Sandra, Thank you for taking the time to review our resort. We have noted your comments but do not believe they are justified. They are not in-line with the reviews we receive from other guests. What do you mean by dirty place? Do you have any proof of this? Your pictures do not show any of this. Our guests constantly rave about our excellent food which has been rated among the best in French Polynesia. Our friendly Polynesian service is also a strong point of our hotel. We trim our coconut trees every 10 months and with over 700 trees to do, you can imagine that it takes a lot of time to do them all. We are sure that the bad weather during your stay has something to do with your disappointment. We have noticed that you also gave bad reviews to the other places you reviewed in French Polynesia. We regret that you did not enjoy your trip in our islands and hope that your next vacation will be more pleasant. Sincerely, Hotel Kia Ora Resort & Spa

Our overwater bungalow was very nice. It was not as private as the brochures and the internet pictures show. Sail boats moor right out front of your bungalow. The best bungalows for privacy in our opinion are 46, 47 and 48. The cleaning staff was excellent, friendly and treated us so nice. They provided extra towels for us each day since we were diving. The fish window in the bungalow provided an excellent view of the fish which were many. Outside on the deck, we saw many small nurse sharks, black tip reef sharks, eagle rays, unicorn fish, parrot fish and many other tropical fish. Watch out for the ladder since the bottom rungs are slippery. The restaurant was very very good. The staff was top notched! Very friendly, helpful and attentive. The crispy shrimp appetizer was our favorite as well as the scallops, beef tenderloin and the chocolate cake for desert. Get the breakfast and dinner meal plan. It was worth it. We brought our desert back to the bungalow to enjoy it there. They always provided a tray for us to use. The breakfast was a buffet with made to order eggs. Very good selection. The only negatives we could see were: 1. Smoke from the up wind neighbors permeated the bungalow almost every day 2. The wind caused the thatch roof to be noisy and a nuisance at night. 3. We came in early September which was supposed to be the dry season but it rained almost every day and was cool and cloudy and we did not pack for that. Overall the hotel was very nice, wonderful staff, great food, lots of sea life and well worth the money. Note: our diving was with the on-site Blue Velvet diving and we would recommend them. See that review for details.

This is a beautiful resort with all the facilities you’d expect from a five star property. My review is based on a one-night stay for which we paid about 700 euros. Having stayed at such hotels around the world the first thing that struck us is how much more one pays for bungalows with a private pool here than elsewhere. Last year we stayed in a comparable hotel in Mauritius where we paid half for a similar set-up, in Bali it would be a third at most. But of course Rangiroa is considerably more remote and moreover is it French which explains why you’ll pay a premium. That said, the location is stunning with azure blue waters, a lovely bar, and an average restaurant. A few things that could be improved, especially considering the room rate. The internet is spotty. We stayed im a much humbler bungalow elsewhere on Rangi and had no such issues there. The mattresses could use an upgrade. There’s really no other way to reach the resort than by taxi arranged by the hotel. This should be complementary.

Ia Ora Na, Mauruuru roa for this review; we are delighted that you enjoyed yoru one night stay at our beautiful property. Indeed our loaction being quite remoted compared to others tropcial destinations, our rates are impacted and the level of prices in French Polynesia is generally higher than others destinations. We are sorry to read you had difficulties with our Wifi connection which is usually very good and will investigate this matter with our IT team. Our mattresses are brand new, they were renewed a few months ago and we regret you did not find it comfortable. We arrange airport shuttle service for our guests for an extra fee , but it is not mandatory. Guests may arrive at the resort on their own way if they would prefer. We hope you will keep nice memories of your trip and we will be happy to welcome you again in our island. Sunny regards, Hotel Kia Ora Resort & Spa

We stayed here four nights after Bora Bora. While it’s hard to compare to BB, Rangiroa is very beautiful and relaxing too. We had an overwater bungalow which was great. It could use some updating and maybe a new mattress but that’s personal preference. The ocean water was perfect and we could get in off our deck and float or snorkel all day. We did an excursion to snorkel at the Aquarium, highly recommend! So many different fish. The food was very good! One day, we took the bikes and road from one end of the island to the other. We stopped for lunch at Pizzeria Moanatea and it was so good. They were doing lots of take out orders, so many people must like it. The people at Hotel Kia Ora were so friendly and always willing to help if we had a question. Even with us not speaking French, they were able to get someone to help. We will definitely come back on our next trip to French Polynesia.

We had a once in a lifetime trip in May 2022.Our travel concierge highly recommended the Hotel Kia Ora and that was an understatement. We spent 5 days here on our 18 day elopement in French Polynesia. We stayed in a Beach Deluxe Bungalow with Pool Room which was recently remodeled. The plug pool, outdoor bathtub, chaise lounge, privacy, cleanliness, and luxury soaps were highlights of the room. We also did laundry and garments were returned same day. If you love the water and all the oceans wonders this place is for you. This is a Marine life paradise. We did the blue lagoon tour with the locals which you must do! On-site diving was professional and we felt very safe. They even arranged scuba photos which were incredible. Thank you Jean- Louise & Bernard! We also snorkeled every day from the beach and enjoyed the bar! Food was excellent and so were the cocktails. Robust wine list and fresh fish everyday. I would also add that their traditional Polynesia night was the best we experienced across 4 islands. The music, dancing, and love was unmatched. The best part of this slice of heaven is the people. They made sure every need and comfort was taken care of. Good vibes all around. Last but not least we eloped on the beach with a Here Iti Ceremony. We feel extremely honored to have had traditional Polynesian ceremony with all ancestral rituals and traditions! Cecile and her team set everything up for us and it was magnificent! Mauruuru Cecile & Team

My husband & I are scuba divers and were told about Rangoria. There were a couple of places to stay but Hotel Kia Ora was hands down the nicest place to stay on the Atoll. We had an over the water bungalow which was a great choice for us. the room and balcony were great sizes! We scuba dove 6 days and it is very adventurous & adrenaline rushing place to dive. You need to be an experienced diver. This Resort was a perfect home away from home. Not a lot to do on the island so you do have a lot of down time to relax, read, play cards. The food was good and the staff were all very sweet! We had no complaints at all. We enjoyed every minute of our trip.

Kia Ora is a lovely resort with well manicured grounds, good snorkeling at hotel and helpful staff. Rangiroa has amazing marine life and is a treat to experience. The resort does a great job at booking excursions which are updated each day. The free shuttle to sunsets/dolphin watching at the pass was really nice. Do not leave Rangiroa without visiting the aquarium and reef garden - it’s only a 5 minute boat ride from the hotel (ask for Hugo!). As a family of 4, options for rooms in FP tend to be limited. We started in the duplex bungalow #18 but it was on the edge of the resort and the upstairs was warm. Arthur the manager was awesome and very accommodating and enabled us to transfer the next day to a pool villa (#27) which was huge and by far the most modern and nice accommodation we had during our entire trip. Next time without a doubt we’d book a pool villa. If you’re a family and require beachfront then request duplex #8 or #9 they are best located. We had an amazing time in the pool villa and had SO much privacy from other guests and thus didn’t need to ask the kids to be quiet. (note: remember ‘bungalow’ and ‘villa’ are by definition two very different types of accommodation!) Each bungalow or villa has its own comfortable lounge chairs, and there are some comfy chairs at the pool overlooking the lagoon but other options for shade/comfort in public spots are limited. Like much of French Polynesia the soft sandy portions of the beach are limited. In some areas of the resort there were flies but surprisingly very few mosquitos. The food was very good but not overly exciting. Service in the restaurant was very good. The included breakfast was a great value. For all resorts we stayed in FP, it’s simply natural to get bored with the food after 3 or 4 nights since all the menus were static. We’d return to Kia Ora because the villa was awesome and the marine life is incredible. Thanks to Arthur and his team.

We stayed here for ten days in May, 2022. Tough to get here from the east coast, USA.......but worth it...... The staff was accommodating through and through. Helpful and friendly. Had some great talks with the general manager, Jerry Garcia.....he would often stop off in the restaurant to check on the patrons....great guy! The accomodations were wonderful....had a garden suite, small pool, outdoor shower, and tub. I saw posts mentioning updating needed doing....but our bungalow was fine. No mosquitos either The food was good, probably the best place on the island. There are a few other places to eat, didnt rry them all. The wait staff was amazing....Corail, Edgard, etc, all were great- and this is no reflection on the waiters and waitresses whom I cant recall their names.

We’ve just concluded 4 days at the Kia Ora on Rangiroa. This hotel is probably your best option on this beautiful atoll. It’s the most upscale of the accommodations in a 3 to 3.5 star location. Don’t let the star power keep you away though, as the resort is charming and well situated. We opted for a deluxe beach bungalow with pool. Waking up to the catamarans and small boats on the lagoon was delightful and enjoying a glass of wine on the deck or in our private pool while looking at a zillion stars at night was a tonic to this Pandemic. We considered an overwater bungalow but are glad we made the choice we did. If you are traveling on to another spot like Bora Bora, do the overwater there…it is worth the extra money! If Rangiroa, Tikehau or Moorea are your destinations, then by all means splurge on the overwater here. The restaurant and bar are spot on with enough choices for a variety of palettes and good service as well. A particular nod to Edgar who is made a point of making my wife and I feel special while being attentive but not overly fawning or intrusive. His smile was everything that is right in the world! Quick checklist… Pros: Wonderful waitstaff in bar and restaurant Clean rooms albeit a bit worn, but the views make up for scuffed wood and missing pool tiles etc. Sublime water views Surprisingly decent selection of wines for a remote location and nice selection of rums as well Cute plunge pools available with your room to cool off or enjoy a cocktail 🍹 at the end of the day Hotel management seemed genuinely interested in their guests and friendly and engaging. Cons: The hotel tried to charge us for snorkel equipment returned to the front desk, (approximately $240 USD), a complimentary bottle of champagne from our travel advisor/agent and floral decoration in the room ($45USD). *I don’t know if the accounting errors are intentional or just sloppy, but it leaves a sour taste in the mouth so to speak. Once brought to their attention they were quickly removed the erroneous charges, but no one likes having to question a bill on vacation. As others have stated, the hotel is showing its wear and tear and would hugely benefit from refurbishment (I’m sure they know this😃) Polynesian buffet night sort of requires early attendance at dinner in order to get the true benefit. After a long day out we felt late entry might be distracting to other guests and rude to the performers. It’d be great if there were recommendations or options for a quick bite somewhere for those who missed or opted out of the show. Overall, a solid destination and vacation experience. If your expectations are realistic, you will have a wonderful time. We will happily return in the future.

Just finished 5 nights at Kia Ora, just beautiful. We had a beach bungalow which was excellent, we were diving or at least snorkelling every day so we loved the jacuzzi just steps from the beach to dunk ourselves and our fins, masks and cameras in fresh water! The little reef right in front of our bungalow was great. To all the haters who look past the absolute paradise in front of them to complain about a mosquito or something, I just have this to say.. you’re on a tropical island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean! There are insects and no the resort just can’t get rid of them! There are also birds, dolphins, sharks, rays and every type of tropical fish you could ever imagine. Food was great, staff were friendly, mauruuru kia ora, easily the best accommodation on the island
