Remote yet accessible, Soneva Kiri sits on Thailand's fourth largest but least populated island, Koh Kood, in the Gulf of Siam. Surrounded by lush, vibrant tropical vegetation and white beaches, fringed with palm trees, the resort has been tastefully and cleverly designed to complement the landscape and blends seamlessly into the outstanding natural beauty. Soneva Kiri epitomises the Soneva concept of 'intelligent luxury'. Only an hour's flight in the resort's private plane from Bangkok, it feels a million miles from the real world. The sense of tranquillity, seclusion and harmony with nature is second to none. Far away from the beaten track and well-trodden tourist attractions this is Thailand as it used to be thirty or even fifty years ago, genteel and untainted. And also just one hour by boat from the wonders of Cambodia. The 34 pool villa resort is perfect for groups or families, as it provides villas with up to 6 bedrooms. It also has a unique children's den in the form of a manta ray, and a newly launched Intrepid Explorer's Club for the children under 5 years old. It was recently awarded with The Smith Award "Best for Families" from Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

We stay here for the second time since 7 years ago. The best experience we got is the room type” Beach front one bedroom” that is 100% perfect for us because of the decoration and atmosphere. We à are also very appreciated for the sixes that sense spa. The photographer of the hotel also done a very good job. The north beach is very beautiful and the service of the butler is good. Only one point should be improved is the taste of Thai restaurant of the hotel, The tree pod dining is magnificent both view and service but the price may be too high for the value,

Unique experiences here I would say from fresh fruits/juices, attentive staffs, free & good water sport activities, spa & tree pod afternoon tea. If you wanna stay & enjoy nature in truly remote area, you should come here. There are many activities you can do from diving, water sports (free of charge), relaxation in private North beach, good quality of seafood buffets, spa, kayaking inside mangrove etc. The shower room needs to be renovated & connect to the main bedroom to avoid lot of insects while showering.

We love this place and you will too. I can not imagine anyone being so jaded that they are not blown away, by the location, the villas, the restaurants and the service. If those people exist then I never want to get so used to good things that I become like them. We enjoyed every minute here. Don't be too stingy to pay for the private flight from Bangkok. It is really where the experience starts. The moment you step into that plane you leave your normal existence behind. From now on everything is elysian. We flew through a sun-drenched Sunday afternoon, gliding in over the archipelago just as the tropical sun started to set. The little boat ride between palm studded islands increased the sense of being very far away. Our lovely barefooted butler, Fern, who had greeted us at the airstrip took us on a little tour of the resort. We love the chocolate room and the ice cream bar and really everything else. The resort itself does remind me of the film set of Survivor a little bit - but while that is maybe a tiny bit tacky, everything else is so wonderful that I couldn't care less. A bit of Tarzan vibe hasn't hurt anybody yet - and then it is done so well, you really wouldn't want it any other way. We were upgraded to a beach side villa, which is just amazing. What I loved best are the two deckchairs right at the ocean's edge and ability to sink into the cool fresh seawater right infront of you. I mean, blue skies, white sand, swaying palm trees and not a soul inside. We did a trip to the hotel beach, also called North Beach, which lies across the bay and is reachable by boat. Lovely peaceful place, with a great little restaurants and hammocks in the sea. Just super. Then we took a snorkeling trip to Ko Krang, which was nice, but if you are bit older and remember coral reefs in Thailand in the seventies you will cry a silent tear. It is beautiful but a pale reminder of the marine glories in existence in my youth. The staff on the boat though (I remember Pan's name only) are wonderful and attentive. My partner who is not a good swimmer was taken care off very well, so he too could enjoy the underwater world. We had dinner at The View and were blessed with a great sunset. We sat close the kitchen and left the romance of the dining terrace over the sea to younger guests. We instead engaged with the French chef, who rewarded our interest with lovely little amuse bouche and good conversation. My favorite staff member, next to the ever attentive and incredibly capable Fern, is Oh the sommelier. He took me to the wine cellar and was knowledgable and interested at the same time. Great wine conversation. When we come back we already have a wine journey layed out. What else to tell you. This is a great place. We are already thinking about coming back in April for a week.
